  1. I drove from new hope to the crossroads last night around 6:15. It was passable but very frightening. Lots of cars abandoned. However there was a salt truck pouring in the opposite direction of what I was driving. I didn't have AWD but I was in suburban with traction control. I don't think that my accord could have made it up and down the hills
  2. I'm wondering if any of the businesses around the crossroads are open. It's within walking distance for us, but it'd be a decent walk. I'd hate to go if no one was open but would be up for the adventure if they are
  3. I saw a story about a father who walked 6 miles to be with his 6 year old daughter at the school. I'd do that before I'd asked her to be put on a school bus with these road conditions. They are safe, warm, and fed at the schools. No, I'm sure it's not the most comfortable of situations, but they have electricity and running water. Kudos to the school administration and staff for doing what they have. I agree that school should have been cancelled but it wasn't. When I saw that elementary schools were not being released until 12:45 and I looked outside at 11 and saw the roads, I went and chec
  4. Earlier (6:00)it was impassable due to a truck jack knifed on 92 between 120 and East Paulding dr.
  5. I understand there was a semi jack knifed on 92 between 120 and East Paulding Dr. Could be traffic backed up from there??? Not sure though.
  6. II'm glad they're okay. How devastating to lose everything, though. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
  7. Does anyone know what happened with a fire around 92 and Old Burnt Hickory? I heard sirens and smelt smoke on the way home around 9:30 pm today. Once I got home I could see some flames in the distance through some trees. Anyone know what was on fire and if everyone is ok? Wondering if it was a lightning strike.
  8. Based on the road closings I've seen, I think I'll be able to make it in to work tomorrow. Old Burnt Hickory to County Line Rd to Due West Rd to Mars Hill/Lost Mountain to Macland to East West Connector. Anyone working in Austell know if I'll be ok? I know some of these roads have closings, but I think I'll be ok in the areas I'll be driving. Anyone with firsthand knowledge?
  9. Husband coming from Cartersville. Does anyone know if he can take 41 to 92 to cheatham rd? I know crossroads is blocked and mars hill/stilesboro/burnt hickory is closed. We live off of old burnt hickory. Any suggestions?
  10. Oh shoot. I'm stupid when it comes to stuff like this. I just put in a load of laundry AND ran the dishwasher. Guess I won't do anymore today.
