Many have asked what can they do? If you would like to donate food to the family, please pm me and I will help you coordinate that. I am also in charge of the "after funeral get together" and if you would like to donate food, beverages ect.. again pm me. Anything else I could suggest--maybe a monitary donation that we could use to help the family in these 2 ideas and anything else that come up.

Thanks for everyone great support to this family. This all helps in there grieving proccess and I know they greatly appreciate all the kind words.

Thank you for the help, its very important to me. I understand the whole stranger thing and would rather have his family contact me directly so no info will be passed that they are uncomfortable with.

I never met Jason, but I can assure you I will never forget him. Marines share a special bond, and I feel like I have lost a brother.

    Here is my email:

I haven't had the opportunity to tell her yet. Everytime we talk, we get cut off by another phone call. Its on my list of things to tell her tonight. I have updated the funeral arrangements though on here.

    Thanks,

  2. My prayers go out to his family. I am an instructor at an MOS school in 29 Palms CA. One of my Marines went to boot camp with Jason and shared a bunk with him. I was trying to find information so he could send his condolances. Although I never met Jason, I am deeply saddened by his loss. As a father, I cant even imagine how his parents must feel, you are in my prayers and those of my entire church as well. As a Marine, I have been strongly affected by this situation. After reading the posts here I sat at my desk and cried. Such a young man, and I am sure a great Marine as well. I am truly sorry for what has happened. I hope that you some how find a way to deal with this.

If anyone has any information for where we can send flowers or something else please let me know. If the family needs anything at all please let me know. LCpl Donnellan (Jason's bunk mate at boot camp) would like to contact the family. If you have a phone # or e-mail address, it would be greatly appreciated if you could e-mail it to me or send me a private mesage on here.

    May God lift you up.

I will tell the family to look on here. I'm not comfortable in giving a stranger personal info for them. You can also follow a lot of stuff on FaceBook also.

    Thanks,

  3. If anyone has funeral details please post them. I would like to take my 2 boys that are still home. I just explained to them it is a sign of respect for those fighting and protecting. My oldest daughter is the same age. It really hits home when you think about it.

Currently it looks like sometime Sat. he will arrive at Dobbins in Marietta. If this happens, I'm not sure how we arrange a standing ovation of people lining the street. The funeral is looking like it will be Tuesday at 11 at a funeral home near Canton (has something to do with the proximity to the burial) which is going to be a military cementary somewhere near Red Top. As soon as I find out all things for sure, I'll post again.

  4. Somewhere down the road in the last 20 years or so, some bright group/person thought year round school would be best for kids. This is whqt you get. They aren't going any longer to be smarter--they are just physically stretching the calendar so it looks like they go longer--of course with the numerous breaks. I'm good either way. There are pros and cons to both sides. Just quit calling it year round school--they aren't really getting anymore of an education then they always have. I do personally like the new Sept. break, but only from the standpoint of --if I could afford a vacation---the beaches would be less crowded and cheaper. I don't think they need a whole week of in Nov. and then barely 3 weeks later, having 2 weeks off. Those could be shortened slightly.

As with everything else in this world--you can't please everyone all the time!

  5. I have a friend who back at Christmas his mother got his 2 girls kittens. They didn't need them. They can't even afford food for themselves most of the time. I know he won't have the money to get them fixed, but I know there are programs out here that will help those that really need the help. He is a single dad, raising those 2 girls, trying his best to give them a "normal" life. I try and help them out when I can. Our children are good friends. Anyway if any of you know where I can go to get more information on freebies and discounts for the cat spay, I would greatly appreciate it.

  6. Having small children, this isn't a problem yet. However I have friends who over the years have had to deal with this stupid, insane idea.

Highschool's junior/senior is special. Why in the world would you put pressure like this on 8th graders. They have enough to deal with. Peer pressure--growing up--hormones. The list is long. Have a nice dance at the school. Save your money for far more important things. When my children reach that age---I won't go down without a fight!!!!!!!

  7. I still like Blockbuster. I've joined some club for $10.00 a year and get coupons for free movies monthly plus I think if you rent 3 or 4 you get another free. It works for my life style currently. My kids are still relatively young, and I don't have a lot of time to watch a ton of movies.

As for all, its sad for the people. But it makes since in some cases where they over built.

    • Flanigans, then it later became Mardi Gras
    • Charley MacGruders
    • Sneakers
    • Confetti
    • Limelight, then Rupert's
    • Baby Doe's
    • Studebakers
    • Miss Kitty's
    • Buckboard
    • Spellbound

wow--haven't thought of those places in a loooong time. We must be about the same age to remember such fun places.

There was another one--it was on the square in Marietta---can't think of the name. But it was fun too.

  8. I have to iron and sew many Girl Scout patches and boy scout patches. I'm always wishing there was an easier way.

Have any of you seen the commercial for this product? Has anyone tried it? I usually don't believe the stupid commercials out there, but I would so love to find an easy answer to getting those little patches to stick---perminently!!!!!
