  1. Thank you!! I have seen that light on only a few times, but never knew what it meant. I thought there was something wrong with it. My power has never been over $340, and if it is this month...everyone in my house will be wearing coats...in the dark!!!
  2. I got a call from Ragsdale. I'm a little skeptical because MANY of the organizations are saying cash is needed, and dont send items. Cash can be spent for bulk items. I would think they are dealing directly with someone with first-hand knowledge of the situation, but the call never said who it was. We will probably just be sticking to the cash. ETA: They also said it takes a lot of manpower to sort through all the boxes, which could otherwise be spent somewhere else. I would think it would be much more efficient from a logistical point of view, to receive pallets of towels, pallets of b
  3. Oh, you must be sooo mean!! LOL!! I think mine said that to me once. I said "Okay, which one do you want? Do you want the one that doesnt acknowledge you are even there, the one that beats you senseless, or the one that will abandon you??" I hate when they think they have it so rough. I try to point out that they actually have it much better than some!!
  4. I think with all of the outsourcing to other countries, we need to be ditching the "old" ways, and be creative. Not just the state, but the nation, needs to do this. They keep voting down a proposal for a casino in Maine. Meanwhile, their unemployment rate is high. No jobs. The paper industry is going down the tubes, and most of the wool mills, shoe shops, etc are already closed. They are afraid it will bring on crime. HELLO!! It is already there. The largest amount of money that is made in Maine, is probably on drugs and bail money. While they are busy voting this down, retired folks
  5. I dont make a habit of clicking on links. I will actually type the address in, just in case they are "naming" the link what appears to be right, but it actually brings you to something totally different. For instance, when someone posts a link here they may just name it "LINK", but it takes you to You Tube. People can name links whatever they want. Sorry this is happening to you!
  6. You are right, it does seem like an awful lot lately. I actually thought that life expectancy had risen, but it doesnt seem that way. I would think that stress, and job loss may be a contributing factor. There are so many people out of work that probably couldnt afford to continue their health insurance. Unemployment is usually too much to be able to receive medicaid. I know a man that lost his job, and he was raising his son on his own. His $330 a week was more than the allowed income for insurance. $1300 a month is not enough to pay mortgage, car, car insurance, food, utilities, and i
  7. Sounds like he will look good already!! How old is he? Too young for large shoes? Or maybe some slippers or funny shoes, if you have any. Good luck!!
  8. I would put it in the window. I know it doesnt solve the thief problem, but at least they cant take it down. When we were looking at houses, we made sure to look at the windows as well. Sometimes, the foreclosures, and ones owned by property management companies dont have the FOR SALE signs out, but do have owner info in the window. I would hope most people in the market would look for that. Sorry you are having trouble..
  9. Congrats! I was able to be a SAHM for about a year when I was pregnant with my second. I was out of work due to medical issues, and I was used to working and being on the move. The transition was a little difficult. I would absolutley love to be able to again. One thing I would do, is grow a garden with my children. I want to anyway, but being at home would allow more time to "teach" them, rather than just get the job done. Anyway, just keep in mind, there is NOTHING more rewarding than caring for your children, in the long run!! Have fun!!
  10. Okay...I want everyone to get REAL excited, buy out the stores, go get sleds, and snow shovels. Do WHATEVER you have to do to prepare....THAT WAY WE WONT GET ANY!!! My Mom is flying in from Maine on Friday..and I dont want anything to mess it up. I'm hoping for blue skies along the East Coast. She arrives around 12:30pm, so hopefully IF anything happens, it wont happen until she is here.
  11. This is so sad. My prayers are with them, I cant imagine.
  12. I was going to call them, but I contacted them through the link. Thanks! ETA: I dont like McDonalds much either, but anything I can do to help a local person with their business, consider me in.
  13. Thats right! You absolutely need to be a savvy shopper. Pcom also helps, because people have "been there and done that". Its nice to be able to forewarn people, and get a heads up before making a decision.
  14. Thanks. I pretty much knew that, but I dont like it!! Once again, the little po' folks pay the price. I dont mind paying for my services, but if it costs $600 90% of the time, the people paying the $1400 10% of the time are really getting screwed. Maybe all this BS with the Democrats wouldnt have been so bad if it wasnt for insurance companies dictating everything.
  15. I know a couple of elderly folks that always get the "free" diabetes testers. Just to stock up, I guess???
  16. No its not right, but in the doctor case, it seems we are the ones getting ripped off, or the doctors. I would think the majority, has insurance. If it costs $1400 for a procedure, and the doctors only get $600, they would be out of business by now. Also, the car repair...why would a mechanic WANT to get $200 from an insurance company, when they can get $300 from an individual. I dont understand how that is ripping off the insurance company, when there isnt even one involved in the offer.
  17. True. It either costs a certain amount for a procedure, or it doesnt. I have no problem paying for what I get, but it shouldnt cost insurance companies less than it costs me.
  18. Well, here is something that is firing me up today. I have gotten shots in my back for my herniated disc. When I had insurance, the cost was around $1400, but the doctors settle for $594 as a payment for that procedure. Now that I dont have insurance, the doctors office told me the price is $1200, but they will GLADLY do it for half down ($600), and payments for the other half. I know its not the same as "false advertising" but it is still something that we have to deal with.
  19. I would change the vacuum cleaner bag frequently if you have one.
  20. I would call your doctor and try to get a prescription shampoo. Oftentimes the OTC things dont work very well. My children came home that way once, and I washed everything and sprayed the carpets repeatedly.
  21. Congrats!!! A cute little baby girl!! I'm so happy everything looks good!!
  22. This is exactly what I thought at first. Then I thought, that not every American that is fighting for our country is a Christian. I think if it is a rule, it should remain that way. It should not get pushed onto the troops, but they should be able to have their religious items, like crosses, as their personal items if they wish.
  23. We get Darlenes wings a lot. We get the 50, then mix and match with different flavors. Their lemon pepper is great!! I've never had Birdies wings.
  24. The majority I do, but he does some. It works pretty good, because it keeps us both involved and up to speed on whats going on.
