  1. I think he is still close by....I can hear dogs barking.
  2. I hope so too. If I see him, I will try to keep him around.
  3. Thank you everyone. I havnt heard him/her for a little while, but will go out and call for him. I'm a little wary about strange dogs, so I didnt bring it in. I will check back in a minute. I just went and shook some cat treats and called for him, and he didnt come. He wasnt very small, though. He was about the size of a lab, but skinnier. If you pull onto Woodwind Drive (main road into Sunset Mountain), and go almost all the way to where the new part (White Creek) starts. We live near the corner of Woodwind and Southern Trace Crossing. If I see him again, I will let you all kn
  4. Well thanks, they are saying sleet and snow, possible accumulations 1 to 3 inches. Sounds just like Friday all over again.
  5. It was probably better than Red Lobster..and in the comfort of your own home! It sounds very good.
  6. Theres a medium sized dog outside my house. Black and white, medium size. I'm not really sure the breed, but it likes to bark. Sometimes sounds like a hound.
  7. I see that!! Weather.com is pretty different. I guess we will know when it gets here. I would just as soon have another "snuggle" day staying at home. I will still be working (on call phones) as I have all weekend, but I can do that in my PJ's.
  8. When I look at the hour-by-hour on accuweather, it doesnt really show much. Shows sunny by 7am. Strange. Maybe I'm seeing something wrong.
  9. Well, we (actually I) had decided not to do anything. I didnt realize that he already had something on order. Anyway, last night he gave me a homemade (from the neighbor) wooden jewelry box that has interlocking pieces that you have to take off in order, or it wont open. It also has my initials and todays date wood burned into it. It is SO cool! Now what am I going to do?? I guess I'mm heading to Wal Mart! The kids got chocolates, and my Mom is visiting, so she got flowers. Nobody could pay me enough to go to a restaurant today!!! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYBODY!!!
  10. Thanks Friendly Geek! I have Vista, and it always askes me "A program is trying to install, do you want to do this" type of question. I like that feature, because I can verify that it is Microsoft or whoever. So, with me having AVG, I can still get something if I actually click on the link. Some people think the antivirus will prevent it no matter what you do. My son had AVG, and he still got viruses.
  11. Oh, I guess it wouldnt work. I remember you saying that now. Maybe even a heart to heart phone converstaion.
  12. I dont agree either. You will always find someone that is clueless, no matter where you live, hence the cars off the road during the first storm of the year. There are "tricks" that you learn once, and always know. Is it nerve racking during the first storm? Yes. Have I forgotten? No. As far as driving on glare ice, its nearly impossible no matter who you are or where you live. I had many ice storms that I had to drive home in, but usually we had snow on the sides of the road. I would drive with 2 tires in the snow on the side of the road just to get traction. If an ice storm was appro
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong please. First, I have AVG with no problems. A guy I know told me that no matter what protection you have, malware can still get in. If you actually click on a link, it can let it in because you "told" it to, by clicking on it, and the anti-virus wont kick in because you actually "invited" it. I think many people (including myself) are misguided as far as what the anti virus programs acutally do for you.
  14. I think it all depends on the family. Maybe you could suggest a "family day" to look through things, and talk, laugh, and cry. It may end up being a good way to bring up that you would like to have it. Good luck, I've never been in that situation, and I'm sure its tough.
  15. See, I was trying to turn over a new leaf, and not comment until I had thought about it. I didnt even go in and read any of this thread yesterday. So, I'm not STILL bitching...I actually just started!! Sometimes if people dont talk about a mistake when it happens, things arent done differently next time. The problem is, it may not happen for another 10 years, and many of the people in charge and parents may have changed.
  16. Yes, we are. I agree with most of the previous posts. The thing of it is, people here dont do it enough to educate themselves about it. When I was driving home yesterday, I'm seeing my temperature gauge reading 28 degrees. Yes, the roads looked wet, but it was a very good possibility that it was icy. There were so many people driving faster than normal speeds, because as long as they dont SEE snow on the road, it must be okay, right!?! I had an hour long debate yesterday with a guy I work with about it. He said it would not freeze, nothing would happen. Well, his 6 hour drive to Mobile
  17. Not really trying to get this started again, BUT...a law enforcement officer did lose his life on the roads. I bet he had FAR more driving experience than many people, and it still happened. It was obvious this storm was coming. We had been hearing about it for days. With the last ice storm we had, it wasnt hitting the ground when it first appeared on the radar either.. Paulding County was right on the line, but I noticed the weather updates getting worse by the hour as I was checking it all morning. At 11am, it said we would see 1 inch before 3pm. I'm pretty sure that was before th
  18. Did you back up your files yet? I would. Do you have a "restore" disk that came with your computer, and the manual? If so it is very easy. It will put your computer back to exactly the way it was when you got it.
  19. Be careful. Those "warnings" may actually BE the virus. My sons did that a while back, and I used the restore disk. It wiped the computer clean, but if he had any pictures or documents, they would have been gone. It may be a good idea to try and copy any files/pictures onto a disk now. AVG has a free download, too. But, do NOT click on the messages that are popping up.
  20. I do understand your concern. It is my opinion that more distractions are "mental" not so much what your hands are doing. You brought up a hands-free device. I think Blu Tooth is just as hazardous as the phone. Your mind can still wander. You also brought up her position in the seat. I had to drive almost laying back today because my back is so painful. I was still aware of what was going on and driving safely. All I'm saying, is that it is possible that it was done fairly safe. Her eyes may never have left the road to get the camera, turn it on, and put it in place. Its also possible t
  21. I dont think lives should be risked, and it makes it more hazardous to have them stopping all the time and other traffic has to go around. I wouldnt want to do it. Even the time-sensitive companies that you PAY more to have it there on time, makes exceptions for the weather.
  22. Tell, tell!! See, they teach you to be aware of your surroundings and look around. I am always "scanning" the situation, and it is impossible to look straight ahead, and be completely safe.
  23. Yep, I agree. I dont need a news channel, or law enforcement, to tell me to use my common sense. I feel for the ones that had to be out there, though.
