  1. Reading the article, regardless of which TV station reported on it, there is absolutely NOTHING to suggest that the man claimed self defense. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. It merely says that he called 911 and reported that he shot her and that he is in jail charged with murder and aggravated assault.
  2. I forgot all about this today!!! I'll ask him the next time I see him.
  3. Only PARTS of Cobb have public transit. I live near Powder Springs and my daughter lives in downtown Austell. NEITHER place has public transit. The closest for either of us would be at Cobb Hospital. When CCT went to Austell, my daughter and son in law used to go to Target, K-Mart, Walmart, Aldi, the tag office, downtown Marietta, his work, anywhere they needed to go. We are all sooooooooo hoping that the county puts that route back. Hubby and I were even going to take CCT, with a transfer, to go to a trade show at Georgia World Congress Center. I can't tell you how many
  4. Here's a hint from my long, tiring housing search. When you're searching the Internet for a house to buy DO NOT use Zillow, Trulia, AOL Houses, Yahoo real estate or any of those "third party" searches. Use realtor.com or the search feature of a big agency like Keller Williams, Coldwell Banker, Exit, etc. I went to Trulia and did a search for the area where we're looking. I found SIX houses listed, some with price reductions, that already sold. Both Trulia and Zillow had a house listed as being for sale that is under contract. These search engines are a joke. Don't use them.
  5. One house we made an offer on had been for sale for three YEARS. No offers. We make an offer and another comes in within a day.
  6. Not to be rude or demeaning or anything, really I'm not because I know a number of agents in this area, but it seems as though the listings in the Atlanta area have more mistakes, fewer pictures and poorer descriptions than any others I have seen. When we had our rental house listed in 2004, the agent had a terrible description of it. I had him correct it, it was so inaccurate. He even had the name of the street wrong!! Granted, the county changed the name of the street between the time we purchased it in 2001 and when we put it up for sale in 2004 but all the street signs had the new name
  7. You might be surprised about all the houses being bought by rental companies. We thought the same thing. And we also thought real estate agents were buying them. Apparently neither is the case where we're looking. It's a long, hard, bumpy, emotional road. I'm ready to pull over to a rest stop.
  8. His parents lived in Mableton for many years. I knew them quite well. My brother knew Joe and Billy Joe Royal, as they all went to school together.
  9. He will be missed. He was famous as a songwriter and a singer. http://youtu.be/PojXf-spKKM
  10. It's not just Paulding because I'm not looking in Paulding or even Georgia. To date we have made offers on six houses. The first one, we actually were the highest bidder at auction. Ten or eleven days after the auction we were notified that the sale had been canceled. The seller, Fannie Mae, did not have a clear title. That was in June 2010. That house is STILL empty. The second one, we were outbid by a bid submitted the same day. That happens. The third one, we tried THREE times to buy that house. On the third try, at auction, we were outbid at the last second. We could not bid
  11. If you see a small pick up truck tooling around town with a tag that says "Pcom" that would be the Pubster. Hey, where are the t-shirts? I want one.
  12. LPPT, the *story* seems to be legit but the person who started the page on FB is an apparently UNRELATED person. It appears that she (Angel somebody) picked up the story from a FB group dedicated to not vaccinating children. I have to wonder if it was the person who started the page on FB who is soliciting the funds.
  13. HUH??? Insurance companies ALREADY are some of the richest and most powerful corporations on the planet. Have been for a couple of decades. And who do you think lobbied for health care reform? Yep, the insurance companies. More insured customers, more profit because the law of supply and demand (and profit) dictates that if you are forced to cover high risk people, you have to charge more. In this case, charge more to everyone. The insurance companies HAVE to make a profit. They have shareholders to answer to. Do you really think they are going to go back on their shareholders?
  14. On the news the other night they showed delegates arriving for the convention. Or Walmart shoppers. I really couldn't tell which. That's not to say the Republican delegates looked more like Neimanns shoppers than Walmart shoppers, just that the ones they showed looked like they were going to Wally World instead of a national convention.
  15. In doing research on this last night I did find these facts: These babies did both pass away and their mother was the person noted in the other thread's original posting. There is a Facebook "event" set up for accepting donations. It was started by someone in another state. Apparently the person who set it up is part of the "proud parents of unvaccinated children" group on FB. It is this other person who wants "justice" for the babies. Both babies were apparently buried following a funeral. At least that is what their obituaries in the local newspaper in Youngstown, OH state
  16. Funny you say this. Hubby and I were discussing this very thing last night and I used the very same words you did.
  17. I don't believe most people didn't believe the story. Some people seemed to think it belonged in the Community Chest as it appeared to be asking for help for the funeral for these babies. I just don't think the OP of the thread researched the story very well and just posted sensationalism.
  18. Thank goodness Georgia's rate isn't the same as Nevada's. Or California's. 45 GEORGIA 9.3 46 NORTH CAROLINA 9.6 46 SOUTH CAROLINA 9.6 48 NEW JERSEY 9.8 49 CALIFORNIA 10.7 50 RHODE ISLAND 10.8 51 NEVADA 12.0 These were preliminary figures.
  19. Really? Business start ups BOOM during a recession and massive job losses. As for existing businesses (and new ones for that matter), if the government would get out of the way instead of hindering progress, things could be a lot better. In fact, here's an article in Time about starting businesses during a recession. http://www.inc.com/www.inc.com/articles/201111/were-in-a-recession-time-to-start-a-company.html Statistically, an entrepreneur’s odds of success are the same whether he or she starts a company during a boom or during a bust. There are distinct advantages to starting a c

  21. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/fact-check-4-5-million-jobs-created-under-175621036--election.html However, CNN fact-checked that claim and found it to be "not the whole picture." Instead, CNN found that there has been a net increase of just 300,000 nonfarm payroll jobs since Obama took office. And if you count government jobs, there are actually 400,000 fewer people working today than in January 2009. When Democrats use the 4.5 million jobs number, they're referring to jobs created after the economy bottomed out in January 2010, one year after Obama took office. That time frame exc
  22. My husband wanted a bike rack for the car. I found it at Walmart.com for considerably less than it was in the store. Like you, we got free store pick up!
