  1. There are a LOT of factors that go into determining that. Who agrees to pay for what, if it's an expense paid outside of closing or at closing, what is needed as far as inspections, etc and whether it's cash or financed. I've actually been given an estimate on two different houses and the lower priced house had higher closing costs.
  2. My brother lived and worked in the Middle East for years. I wasn't naive enough to think other countries looked up to us, thanks to the experiences my brother shared with me.
  3. Hubby was in Augusta on business. I was still adjusting to the fact that my daughter who had only been married five months was three months pregnant. I was really worried about her since she lived on the other side of town and her husband had been talking about joining the National Guard. I was driving in to work and was somewhere around where Best Buy and JC Penney are now when I heard the report on the radio that a plane had hit the tower. Before I got to the office, they reported the second one had hit. I get to work and my co-worker was almost in tears (may have been in tear
  4. I had a co-worker one time who agreed to help me do a few things around the office on Saturday. We were going to swap a couple of desks around and move a couple of plants. Nothing real big. We had furniture mover things to put the desks on so it was a matter of sliding them around and into place. She showed up in 3 inch spike heels and a tiny, skin tight dress. I was in jeans, t-shirt and tennis shoes and ready to work. Got the desks moved and the plants back in place. More or less by myself.
  5. Probably why the director is a family member.
  6. If he had prescription glasses in the past, he should be able to get the PD from the optician who filled the prescription for the eyeglasses. Ridiculous that the eye doctor wouldn't do one!! They have to if you get glasses from them! BTW, the PD rarely changes in adults but can change as children age. I got previous glasses from Lenscrafters, gave them a call, they gave me the PD and I ordered from Zenni. Ask Zenni to send you a PD measuring tool. They have them. They sent me three or four last time I ordered but I gave most of them away.
  7. ALL the glasses I currently wear--two regular pairs, sunglasses and sunshades--came from Zenni. I love them!! I have had soooo man compliments on the glasses, too. Needing another eye exam so I can order some new glasses.
  8. Just to be on the safe side, PM Pubby and ask him what to do. Personally, I'd take it to small claims court because if you ever get a judgment, even if they file bankruptcy it would have to be included. Once the IRS or the DOL starts knocking on their door, they may re-think the "don't mess with a yankee" idea. I'm glad to see you got a mug shot. I didn't think to research that!! True. But it doesn't matter whether they operate as a corporation or not, taxes won't be avoided and once either the DOL or the IRS has a complaint about a check, they WILL be looking to se
  9. You don't have the same information I provided the OP regarding management and corporate status.
  10. If they are incorporated, they can't dissolve the corporation until all bills are paid. If they get audited by the DOL or IRS, they will find money. The point is, it doesn't matter if they are incorporated or not, the OWNER of the daycare is required to pay withholding taxes. If it was a corporation that was sold, they are generally sold with the understanding that the new owner assumes all debts. Likely, nothing was sold. Especially since this particular daycare has a director who is the CFO of another Georgia corporation. A Georgia corporation which is still active.
  11. Actually, there really is a good deal you can do. Call them again and give them 24 hours to produce your check in YOUR hands. Tell them if you don't have the check within 24 hours you will contact the IRS and say these words "since you are not giving me my paycheck one can only believe that you're not paying the payroll taxes either and I WILL report you to the IRS in 24 hours and 5 minutes if I don't have a check in my hand. This is NOT a threat. It is a promise". Then if you don't have your check in 24 hours, call the IRS at (404) 338-7962 and tell them you are wanting to report an
  12. I would imagine some are like my daughter's neighbor and have at least TWO identities, one they receive benefits with and another they use for work. :angry2:
  13. Actually, if you're born at home you can still get a birth certificate. I have a copy of my dad's. As to proving identity, if you're getting government assistance of any kind, you get mail. Even people living in personal care homes can prove their identity and prove where they live. AGAIN, if you qualify, the voter ID card is free. There is transportation available for elderly people, and that would include trips to the DDS office and to vote. Believe me, if some group is going to provide transportation TO vote, they will provide transportation to obtain whatever ID is necessary
  14. No way!! LPPT was running her mouth, er, talking to people!! She's so shy I just can't imagine her TALKING to people.
  15. Not if I didn't have my reading glasses on. Or if I had my glasses on since I can't see to read with them on. I did realize a few years ago that 50 was the new 30.
  16. You know, this doesn't do anything to dispel the rumor that Paulding has a shallow gene pool. So many Pcommers look alike!! I just can't believe how many of you look like me. Except I'm not 70.
  17. It's provided. Usually by a group that HOPES they vote for their party candidate.
  18. I enjoyed meeting you this summer. FINALLY meeting you, that is.
  19. But when a person qualifies for the card, it's free so how would one be unable to afford it? I understand not being able to get to the DDS office to get one but to claim they can't afford to get something that is free. I'm so glad that when we go to our regular place to buy beer, they don't ask to see my ID. Or ask what I want.
  20. After almost two years of working in a health food store, I could have told them this.
  21. I watched a video on WSBtv.com and it said that he initially claimed he shot her in self defense but apparently witnesses did not back up that story.
  22. The sheriff's office website lists his booking as being completed about two hours ago. Maybe that explains why the stations haven't updated their site. They may be waiting for complete information. Or maybe they are looking to boost ratings.
  23. Anyone interested in buying a home in southwest Cobb, let me know. I have one for sale.
