  1. I used to really laugh at the book "Oh Lord, Now I sound just like Mama". Now I don't laugh at it so much. I understand the stopping and crossing your legs.
  2. Well, that was a fun lunch, wasn't it? Different to say the least. Ya' still mad at me? Oh honey!!! Talk about golf courses! Yes indeedy, they have plenty of them around there. Hidden Creek is about 20 miles to the south. Tanglewood is just a couple of miles away. The Moors is right down the road. Then out near Gulf Breeze there are several others. Plus if you're ex-military, NAS Pensacola has a great course (so I hear). Whiting Field has a course as does Hurlburt.
  3. Both the CT scan and MRI I had were abdominal scans. The CT scan took waaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than the MRI plus there was the prep for the CT scan. They explained the noises of the MRI to me, let me choose the music I wanted to listen to and it wasn't bad at all. It was actually over before I had time to be anxious about it. I had just had a friend who couldn't do a thoracic MRI (upper chest) and my hubby had a little problem with a lumbar (lower back) MRI so I was really concerned that since I am very claustrophobic I wouldn't be able to handle it. I HATED the CT scan. Hated it, hated
  4. Contract on one. Hmmmm. Two bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house. Maybe invite one at a time! Barbed Wire gets to be invited third. Sorry, Barbed Wire but my former employer and a former co-worker get to be first and second. They have been through this longer with me, both going back to 2002. Nope, but I'll be needing one once I get there. Rethinking that RTRP exam now. And just a note to my clients who might be reading this, I haven't left yet and it may be the end of the year before I leave. I won't desert you. I'll also leave you in good hands.
  5. Those who have been following my trials and tribulations will know what this means. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
  6. Maybe I can get Donna to take a picture of me hugging him next time up there. Yep, maybe not out of town but took time off to be with the kids since they are out of school this week.
  7. When other shoppers have to apologize for rude comments they make to Food Stamp recipients I'll be in favor of firing a store employee for doing the same. I've seen the rolling eyes, the nose held high in the air, the look of disgust and heard the comments. From other shoppers. Only once in the time I have been with my daughter at the store while she used either EBT/food stamps or WIC vouchers have I even seen anything resembling rudeness from an employee. That was at Walmart. She should have taken the store credit and then moved her business to another store if she felt so strongly
  8. So, I guess as long as the checks are cashed, there is NO reason to ever check to see why the person has not used their Medicare in THIRTY YEARS? Or was that being used too? I'd think after a person turned 90 that Social Security might WANT to do a "hey, are you still among us" inquiry. What's amazing is that Social Security can be really efficient in taking back payments when they want to be efficient. My hubby's ex was approved for disability the month she died. She had already received her payment for that month. As soon as she was reported deceased, the money was gone from her a
  9. c'mon former member. There is NO reasonable explanation for something like this happening. Don't blame it on "computer systems". This was human failure. It wasn't a bureaucratic entanglement. It was greed, fraud and the fact that nobody seemed to give a damn about this woman. NO excuse for it.
  10. You will just have to be like the rest of us up here and wait until next week for our chiropractor to return to the office. I've been to Valdosta. No explanation of the men necessary.
  11. Shhhh!! Don't think about the e-mail says. You might see through it.
  12. actually, it was her husband who was Dr V's patient. And my back and neck really do hurt right now.
  13. Trust us. He's GOOD looking! I had an elderly friend (in her late 80s when she passed away) and she commented to me one time that he was hot! She must have been 84 when she said it!
  14. If we did that, Just Thinkin' Hard and I would have a difficult time getting appointments.
  15. Thanks for the tip!! I found the knee brace I had was a lot more comfortable if I wore an elastic knee brace under it.
  16. I know what you mean!! I can't remember yesterday but can remember with crystal clarity things that happened 40 years ago. Occasionally, down to the time of day it happened! But can't remember yesterday. What were we talking about again???
  17. Don't have a GPS. I've always had plenty of people willing to tell me where to go. Hubby wouldn't know how to answer a text and wouldn't know the PIN if his life depended on it. Nor does he have a cell phone. Never a good idea to give out private information in a text REGARDLESS of who sent the text to you. Why in the world would you need your home address in your GPS anyway??? I mean, don't you know how to get home?
  18. No, I did not report them but they were reported. More than you would imagine. I no longer have access to exact numbers but the number would surprise you.
  19. My hubby and I are the same way. Now, if the backs and the knees would cooperate!!
  20. I took a job that I knew would be for four days to cover while someone was out of town. They had me fill out a W4, withheld taxes and I received a W2 at year end. I tried to tell them I would rather be paid as contract labor but they said that wasn't the way they did business. Had to love 'em for that!! They paid me enough that even with taxes withheld I made as much as I would have if I'd been contract. BTW, employers who don't want to do it the way the employer above did are NOT doing it legally. EVERYONE should be on payroll unless they have a signed contract stating that they are
  21. FMLA only REALLY protects your job while you're out. There is nothing to say that when you return they can't fire you. You aren't protected beyond the fact that you can't be fired during your leave. My hubby was out on medical leave under the FMLA in 2000. The DAY he returned to work his supervisor asked to see him at a neutral location and terminated his employment. He had been replaced permanently by the temporary replacement. A couple of months later the entire department was closed.
  22. I have the opposite problem. My knee stays so swollen that any brace binds me behind the knee. VERY uncomfortable. I found the brace online without a prescription. Very well may go ahead and order online because I doubt my orthopaedist would have it in his office.
  23. I've had both a CT scan and MRI and quite honestly the MRI bothered me less than the CT scan did. I am VERY claustrophobic and wasn't sure I could handle the MRI. I listened to music the entire time and actually just laid there chilling out. The CT scan was awful!! Maybe my fear level (of the results, not the procedure) had something to do with that.
  24. If you worked two days, you should get paid for two days. Give them a few days and then call and ask for your paycheck. If you search, you will see an earlier thread about someone who was having problems getting a final paycheck. Find that thread and apply it to your situation. The DOL is NOT there to help you get paid.
