  1. There are mental health facilities around as well. Not sure where the one is in Paulding but it used to be kind of behind the Krystal on Merchants Drive. Cobb has a program. I am not sure if you have to reside in Cobb or Douglas to qualify for that. Paulding's may be through Bartow or Polk Counties. Here's what I came up with when I searched for mental health treatment in Paulding: Paulding County Government - Mental Health 311 West I Parkway Dallas, GA 30132 Phone: (770) 443-7823 And that is behind the Krystal, like I thought. They have not moved in the 15 years
  2. You can still find VO5. Not sure about the other. I think it's extinct.
  3. Never said that. Said I wish they would turn their headlights off when they park. They leave them on to cut off automatically. It is also rare that they turn on the flood light. Hardly a security light. As a general rule, they turn it on, do what they are going to do and then turn it off. Once in a blue moon they will turn it on and leave it all night. I'm not going to adjust my life to accommodate the once in a blue moon time they leave it on all night. Just wish they wouldn't. It's not needed all night.
  4. Being hobbled doesn't sound good. You OK?
  5. Can't stand curtains. I am not even fond of blinds.
  6. Don't EVEN get me started on their flood light! It's worse than the headlights because at least the headlights DO go off eventually. If they forget and leave on the flood light, it's on until morning as all of their bedrooms are on the other side of the house from the light. MY bedroom is right there!
  7. People who are suicidal can appear to be fine one minute and a threat to themselves and others the next. My sister in law always appeared "normal" prior to her attempts. While the whole situation might not make sense to some, it does to others. The article did state the shooter was "known" to the police. Mostly traffic violations and the domestic abuse but there is no way to know what set him off. Apparently his family was concerned about him since they are the ones who called police.
  8. We have lived here for 34 years (come December 23) and most of our neighbors are long term residents as well. We ALL look out for each other and watch out for each other's property. We know who belongs with each house and if something looks amiss we DO call the police, as do our neighbors. So, yes, I'm a peeper. In fact, during the night when I get up to go to the bathroom I look out the window. Don't want to get any unpleasant surprises during the night. We do wish our next door neighbors would cut off their headlights a little quicker when they come in at midnight. The brigh
  9. After I got it to connect, I realized that had I used the correct password IN THE BEGINNING it would have connected. Duh!
  10. I think putting the Vicks closer to your nose or mouth would work quicker and better.
  11. Our first foray into the world wide web was using Prodigy.
  12. When TRS-80 Color Computer from Radio Shack and Commodore 64 were high tech, advanced computers. I still remember the guy I talked to at Radio Shack about buying a bookkeeping program for the TRS-80. He looked at me like I had just stepped off a spaceship or something. Said they didn't have anything like that. It wasn't possible. So, now we have QuickBooks 2013 available.
  13. former member agreed with me on something a week or two ago. What's up with her?? Is she sick or something, agreeing with these people?
  14. My mom had never used a computer or been online. It never ceased to amaze me how she was always happy to tell me to be careful when I got on the Internet because porn was out there EVERYWHERE and would just pop up on your screen. I always had to go looking for it. Guess she knew better about it than I did.
  15. My middle daughter and her husband owned a computer company that provided computer systems, software and support to the medical industry, primarily doctor's offices. My daughter did a lot of the support. She said she would often have to start out with baby steps like "make sure the power cord is plugged into an active outlet". Me, I know enough about computers to be dangerous.
  16. Whether is is rhetoric or prose or a poem, it's still true.
  17. Ok, then I just used EVERYONE'S suggestions and got it to work. Better?
  18. Yeah, but we're both "old school". Was it something in the water in Smyrna???
  19. SUCCESS!! I am actually writing this from the laptop I couldn't get to connect. I went to the laptop I could connect with and got the settings for the wireless network, including password. Changed the other laptop to those settings, typed in the password and it connected!! Thank you to all who offered advice. I actually found what I needed to do from reading bh67 said to do. Believe it or not, I didn't know I could see the password for the network if I looked in the right place!!
  20. Oh Holy Night by Josh Groban and Little Drummer Boy by the Harry Simeone Chorale.
  21. The one I can't connect to is running XP. One of the ones I can connect is running 7; the other Vista. I'll try to do what bh67 says to do.
  22. Yes, it sees it. It attempts to connect but won't. It also sees other connections in the area. There doesn't seem to be a problem with it recognizing that there is one, just a problem connecting to it. Explain "are the settings the same like WPA or WPA-TSK". Where would I find these? I know what they are, I just don't know where to look. I'm still trying to figure out the computer. Oh, it's running Windows XP but so was my desktop that used to be connected to the network. LOL. That has gotten me locked out of some of my online accounts more than once. But yes, I r
