Has that changed? When I did collections, granted years ago, as long as the patient paid SOMETHING on a regular basis we HAD to accept it. Even if it was only $5. But that was private practice and we tried to collect before turning it over to collection agencies. I HATED doing collections. Hated it with a passion. I finally told one of the doctors I worked for that I wasn't doing it any longer because it wasn't part of my job. He agreed. That wasn't part of my job but the office manager wanted everyone in the office to take turns doing it.

Perhaps not in the ER but certainly in the doctor's office they can refuse to see the patient. Verifying Medicaid is different than verifying a photo ID. As someone commented, those are updated monthly and there are cards that the patient receives. But again, in the ER nobody is turned away, at least in a county hospital. Private hospitals can and DO turn people away.

I wasn't sure when that registration process began. The last time I went to the ER with anyone before last Wednesday was five years ago when my daughter almost miscarried. She was already there and in the treatment room when we got there, so I didn't know what process she had been through already. My husband kept telling me in the ER the other day, they haven't asked for my insurance information yet. Funny thing, my husband had not been at Cobb for ANYTHING since 1999 and they still had all the information about him. Asked if he was still employed at ***** (which he isn't) and even ask

I don't think that was the same thing. The helicopter I saw was DEFINITELY closer to Kroger as it was just through the woods from the office. I could see it before I pulled in the parking lot and could hear it. Think I still hear it but I'm not sure. Also, lots of cops around. who says Dallas is a dull little town? Lots of excitement today!

alrighty then. They could have at least robbed the Wells Fargo instead. Don't like them.

I can hear the helicopter while sitting at my desk, with the heat on no less. Saw several police cars already. Near Merchants Drive and Hardee Street. There is/was a prison work detail in Logan Creek/Hays Park subdivisions. Someone escape maybe? Bad day to be in a chopper hovering over the woods between Merchants and the railroad track.

They will inch up starting mid-week next week and then fall back a bit around the 5th of January. It's the busy holiday travel season.

How does that work? My daughter is on Medicaid and since I accompany her to doctor's appointments I know what is and isn't done. She has to show her photo ID in order to be seen Same thing in the ER. The Medicaid was verified before she could be seen. Trust me on that one. I drove her to Smyrna because she had a doctor's appointment only to find out after she got there that the Medicaid wasn't for that month (in spite of what the letter she received from DHS said). My husband had an ER visit last Wednesday at Cobb and outpatient surgery last Thursday at Kennestone. He had to show

Yep, and fax machines won't work on DSL. Neither will fax software on your computer, best I can tell.

I never said the preventive care and care from PCPs wasn't less costly than ER or immediate care. I saw that through the billing in the doctor's offices. Even a new patient visit was a lot less than an ER visit. Just that all the preventive care in the world won't make a difference in a non-compliant patient. Like Chester said, you can't force people to go or participate.

I'm one of the happiest, most positive people I know. You should know me. You'd see that. I look on the bright side of everything. Those on here who KNOW me know that. BTW, I have a husband I love very, very much and who loves me, three beautiful daughters and seven wonderful grandchildren, other than arthritis in my knee I'm healthy as a horse and I'm doing what I love. WHY would I be unhappy? Life is awesome!

Recent studies have shown that as there is more outpatient spending there is an associated increase in INPATIENT spending as well. Additionally, a recent report stated that an annual health care exam, such as a physical, does nothing to improve longevity. MANY preventive measures are things that cannot be done by doctors, such as not smoking, watching your weight, exercising and getting enough rest. All the doctor visits in the world won't make one bit of difference in a patient who is non-compliant, eats junk/fast food, is overweight, smokes like a chimney, never exercises unless it's t

But if the "uninsured" (and you can count on those) still receive care that others pay for, how is this going to be different or better?

I have a pre-existing condition. I have health insurance. It's not through an employer.

I just tell people right off that if they call my cell and get my voice mail to PLEASE leave a message because I likely didn't know I had a call. It happens so rarely that I actually have it ring. Surprised the crap out of me one morning on my way to breakfast! Husband said "is that your cell phone ringing???" I looked at him and said "yeah, that never happens. I always just get a missed call notification".
-
Of course they don't if it reflects badly on them. I hate bill collectors. They just don't get that I'm not the person they are asking for. EVER.
-
I LOVE that description--whimsical at best. I can't tell you how many times I have picked up my cell phone to see that I have a missed call, a voicemail and a text message and never once heard it ring or chime. And can't tell you how many times I have had to start over after about the twentieth attempt at sending a text because there was no service.

Never needed one but I figured if I did it would take an act of Congress to get the recording.
-
Not likely I'll marry your ex. Was not aware that it's not against the law in Georgia to record a conversation. I thought all parties had to be notified. Why do insurance companies, hospitals and utility companies say "this call may be monitored or recorded" if they aren't required to do so? We all know none of those do anything they aren't forced to do.

Someone who said "And there we go, a little harassment via phone and your name on a public board and suddenly you are who you said you were not and even called the insurance company to verify I have a claim." is calling me dumb. Sweetie, I didn't portray you in any way in any post except to say you might be doing yourself more harm than good in your efforts. Posting a person's name and address on a public forum is not good form and won't win you any allies. I hope you were given an accident report at the time it was written up. I also hope that report included insurance informati

Enough said, don't you think?

Your original post stating this person's name and address might be considered invasion of privacy. Also could be viewed as defamatory. I never said you did any of those things just that those are charges that COULD be made should any of those events have taken place. As to a definition, according to a 2002 report by the National Center for Victims of Crime, "Virtually any unwanted contact between two people [that intends] to directly or indirectly communicates a threat or places the victim in fear can be considered stalking". I totally understand the idea of wanting to represent

Did you notify her you were taping the conversation? If I'm not mistaken, it is against the law to tape a phone conversation without the other parties consent. Why didn't the cop ticket her? You asking them not to just doesn't seem logical. If she broke a law, even something as simple as following to close (which is likely since she rear-ended you), unless it was on private property, she should have gotten a ticket. My agent had everything taken care of the next day (the accident happened around 7 p.m.). That's why I pay them, to handle insurance claims.
-
Absolutely!! When I was hit, I called my insurance agent and he got the ball rolling with the insurance company of the person at fault. To this day I have NO idea what the person's name was who caused the accident because taking care of things like that is why I have excellent insurance. It would be my job to get things done, using the services of an attorney, should my agent not be able to get the information they need to process the claim. It's not my job to do THEIR job. Someone is likely to be more agreeable to helping get things taken care of if they don't feel like they have b

Harassment. Stalking. Using profanity. Invasion of privacy. Take your pick.
