Restored Payroll Tax Pinches Those Who Earn the Least
Mama Carol replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I keep thinking maybe if I just say it the second time to start with, he will listen to me. Says he has great hearing, and he does, so I know it's just that he doesn't LISTEN. I'm just as guilty, though. But I'm half deaf. Really. Hard of hearing in one ear and darn near totally deaf in the other. -

Yeah, he waits until the cat is away. That said, he would be in some deeeeeeeeeep doo-doo if he passed a tax law while Congress was not in session. He might get away with some stuff but not that. Did I not say it slowly enough for ya'? -

Certainly. It's called politics. But the president, whether he be Obama, Bush or LIncoln does not pass laws. Again, let me say this slowly so you'll understand. The president does not pass laws. He can suggest them, he can support them but he cannot pass them. He was not given that power under the Constitution (though we don't use it that much anymore). To blame the president, regardless of who that is, for a LAW is pointless. Look at those 535 members of Congress and you'll see who to blame. They could have said no. But in this case, they did what they should have done. For a -

Wonderful explanation of it! And that last part is the best part. -
go to the IRS website and click on "where's my refund?" That can tell you. The schedule you're given when you file is "anticipated". The IRS website can give you a more exact date. Usually the state is a few days ahead of the federal.

He does not pass laws. PERIOD. He can suggest laws, he can support laws and he signs them into law when they are passed but he DOES NOT PASS LAWS. Only Congress has that authority. -

I couldn't agree with you more! Obama does not pass tax measures. Congress does. Please put the blame for that where it belongs--on Congress. -

Then the tax really isn't the problem. It's the fact that you make less than half of what you did. So do I, BTW. -

Did you have to do that before the tax was reduced about two years ago? Social Security and Medicare are not "entitlement" programs in the sense that people think of Medicaid, welfare and Food Stamps as "entitlement" programs. You're ENTITLED to draw Social Security and be covered by Medicare because you have paid into that system through your payroll tax deduction. Medicaid, welfare and Food Stamps are available to those whether or not you have ever paid a dime into ANY system. -

The thing is this is not an increase. It's just a reinstatement of something that had been done for decades. And it's certainly "affordable". I hate to tell the people in the article. That 2% should not have made much difference to them. If they made $50,000 a year, it was only $1000 which is less than $100 a month. -
No, the noise has nothing to do with stimulating your brain. It's the sound of the machine. As the MRI takes "pictures" at different depths, yes the sound will be different. It is different in different phases of a CT scan as well. I think you may be confusing the sounds of the MRI, which is something that cannot be avoided, with the stimulation you receive from an EEG. In that, YES, they want your brain stimulated. That's what they measure in an EEG, electrical impulses. In the MRI, they aren't measuring electrical impulses. It would be essentially the same if they were doing an

If I'm not mistaken, when I downloaded an extension such as one of the two mentioned in the article, all of my e-mails were FLOODED with spam. I rarely got spam until that and then I'd get 30-40 a day. That was really strange to me because I have one that is my "real" e-mail address and is only used for business and for communicating with those people I KNOW personally, only those who have been given that e-mail. One is the addy I set up JUST for FB and the other is an old aol.com account. ALL were bombarded with spam after downloading the "fix" for non-existent privacy issues. BTW, -
What if you're having an MRI of your knee?

I closed my eyes and just listened to the music. You're right about the hardest part being still. I hated that! I was still having considerable abdominal pain so it was not easy to just be still.

You're not the only one happy about the move. While I don't lug around 15 or 16 pounds in my bag, it can get heavy. Ok, maybe it does if you include my purse.

I was shocked to hear you had to have more done. The last I heard you were fine though they were wondering why the high calcium but no symptoms. I am really happy that Wellstar has cardiac services now. When my husband had his cath done, oh, I guess it was 1999, if he had had to have stents or anything else, he would have been transferred to Piedmont. It's wonderful that Cobb (and Paulding) has these services closer now. Soooooo happy to hear you're doing well. See you next week!

Yes, and anything metal such as surgical hardware or markers. Yep, I do. Surprised a BUNCH of folks. I also have a heart. Have proof of that one, too. And a spine.
-
Gee, I took it to be heart.

Nope, you and I are sisters. It's why some people have met me and don't know they have. Present company included.
