I've interviewed quite a few times for jobs I found on Craigslist. I ALWAYS go by the business prior to the interview to see what it looks like and see if I feel comfortable with it. I have taken in my pepper spray. I try to make sure that I am near the door and that nothing or nobody is blocking the door. I had my husband accompany me to one interview because I was not totally comfortable with it. I've interviewed in warehouses, homes, auto repair shops, retail stores and fancy-smancy office parks. I try to use my head and not put myself in a position where I might be harmed. To be hon

When we were looking at houses, I would either use the directions in the listing for the house or do a Mapquest or GoogleMaps search and get directions. One house was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the country and we had no problem finding it thanks to the excellent directions the listing agent had given in the listing. TWICE we met real estate agents out there, including the listing agents co-agent, and both times they followed their GPS and GOT LOST!! The GPS actually has you go about a mile past the house and then takes you down a pot-hole filled dirt road that is almost impassable after

Ours isn't sold yet but hopefully it will this time. Yours is newer and in a more desirable area, so it should be fine. You will LOVE Florida, except when you go to get tags and drivers licenses. Be prepared for high prices on those. But to be fair, I don't know what it costs to get a drivers license in Georgia so the almost $60 for the 8 year license here might not be that bad. And now with Georgia having the new tag tax, I don't know how that would compare. Be sure to shop around for car insurance. We went to an independent agent and got twice the coverage for the same price we wer

We listed ours on a Friday afternoon and had an offer, $5900 less than asking price, on Monday morning. Two days before closing, the buyer backed out citing a problem with the home inspection (all made up, I might add). So it went back on the market. Naturally, it has rained every weekend it has been on the market. But late, late Friday night we got another offer, just $900 under asking price. Hope to close in about six weeks. Our daughter listed her house this past Saturday. They want to follow us to Florida. Keeping my fingers crossed that the house I have picked out for them is

To be fair, they couldn't have gone down much more.

You can dream, I guess.

Don't say that!! I had them, too. But like Momof 3 said, it was a playing card. My baseball cards were too valuable to me to put on my bike. I sure which I had them now.

Helping family member applying for Medicaid - Attorney/Help Needed
Mama Carol replied to cptlo306's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I agree. You shouldn't be completely destitute to get help but in a lot of cases, depending upon the caseworker at least, you have to be. Both times my daughter went on pregnancy Medicaid, she was well into the second trimester before she got approved and she applied before she was three weeks along! The second time, her husband had just lost his job, they were living a house that hubby and I owned and I was paying all their utility bills and for their food because they had ZERO income. It still took a long time for her to get approved. Glad to hear your SIL is fine now. -
She has plenty of family. Husband comes by every day. Mother and father come several times a week. I don't know for a fact but I would think two of her three brothers come pretty often.
-
She did say that she asked them to get a bariatric stretcher for her to make the trip to the doctors office. I know the previous two attempts at going to an office for a visit did not happen because they didn't get a large gurney. She's been in touch with the "owner" of the facility. She said owner but I think it's probably the administrator her dad chewed out. Things seemed to be going better for a few days after that. I'll tell her about the ombudsman. Thanks for that info!!! The doctor she is going to contact on Tuesday definitely can. I think that was part of the rea

Helping family member applying for Medicaid - Attorney/Help Needed
Mama Carol replied to cptlo306's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We both must be members of the same cynics club. I feel that way as well. And to the OP, if the person has assets, it is my understanding that they will be used before any "help" can be given in most cases. I know you can have some assets and qualify for Medicaid but the reason for the application often determines which assets you can have and still get assistance. To "protect" the assets may in some cases be fraud. -
My hubby was riding from Powder Springs to Rockmart three times a week. He has ridden on every bit of the trail, from Smyrna to where it ends in Alabama (not all at one time). We have a trail down here but it's only about 7 miles. People he has talked to say they have never ridden the entire trail at one time because it's too far to ride. He's like

Bar L, Hometown Pizza or Frankies? All are close to the trail.

I'll do that. I'm in touch with one of her older brothers and may get him to rattle some cages, too.

She's not gone to Kennestone for rehab. She has not gone there at all yet. The doctor she is to contact next week for an appointment and the one she was supposed to have seen three weeks ago are at Kennestone. She went from Douglas General to the nursing home over a month ago. She has seen a doctor ONCE in all that time. It's times like this I wish I was up there. I'd be there at least every other day, talking to the staff. As it is, I'm 350 miles away.

I'll ask if she has a social worker available. Her husband is useless in this. It shouldn't be up to her 82 year old father to see that she gets the care she needs. She said her husband was the type of person who liked for people to tell him what to do. I said "in that case, tell him to get off his a** and get her the care she requires". The one she is in has not received good reviews from the state. They received deficient ratings in many areas through the years. She's in the shadows of Cobb Hospital but all the doctors she has been told to contact and all the tests she has

Really? Things have changed apparently. Not for the better either.

First of all, let me say I agree with you 100%. Those outfits look dorky. That said, I will pass along that, according to my husband who used to ride the SCT, that all of those items are for comfort and/or safety. The bike shorts make sitting on those microscopic seats a bit more tolerable. I don't know about you, but my behind won't fit one of those seats and I doubt many people have a behind that would. The shirts generally have some wick/cooling effect as well. The shoes with the clips are for safety, as is the helmet. But I'm with you. Oh, and the first time my husband put

I have a friend who is in a nursing home. She says SHE is the one who has to contact doctors to make appointments, make arrangements for transportation to their offices, etc. Is this correct that the PATIENT has to do that? Something just sounds wrong about what she is telling me. She is bedridden and morbidly obese and apparently SHE has to contact a transportation provider to arrange for that after she has contacted the doctors office to make an appointment.

Helping family member applying for Medicaid - Attorney/Help Needed
Mama Carol replied to cptlo306's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Using an attorney to apply for Medicaid? I've never heard of such a thing. I know once you're been turned down you can appeal. One would think if a person had the means to pay an attorney, they would not need Medicaid. That said, check with one of the attorneys who help people get Social Security Disability. There are also organizations that can assist you in filing for Medicaid. She can also check with the particular department of the state government that administers Medicaid. I believe that is the Department of Community Health. Why pay an attorney who may or may not be abl -
I am heartbroken about this. I met him a few times and really enjoyed visiting with him.

Georgia State Park Cabins, And Bibles In The Drawer's
Mama Carol replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Here's a thought: If you don't want to read it, don't pick it up. Don't open the drawer. Nobody is putting a gun to your head telling you that you HAVE to read it or believe it. Tolerance works both ways. If one person who has a particular belief wants others to be tolerant, they must be tolerant as well. -
I miss my bewbie hugs from her. Hey, LPPT, drop me a PM when you get the chance. I'd love to catch up with you. Miss you girl!

I wanna know, too. Starr would love those for her birthday! Her Nana would love them, too.
