  1. Lucky guess. I've watched them for years. They don't seem to get the idea that things have changed and that they don't speak for all blacks.
  2. Not saying they ARE embraced by all blacks just that they THINK they are. And think that they are feared by whites.
  3. No, I'm pretty sure they think they are well embraced by all blacks.
  4. former member isn't here anymore??? When did this happen? Geez, you would think I would notice something like that. Maybe she got a life.
  5. I don't give a rat's furry behind what color you are on the outside. I don't give a rat's furry behind where you came from. It's what is in your heart that counts.
  6. My favorite son in law is the black one.

  8. Why would any person, and I refuse to use the term "mother" to describe this woman, allow their child to go ANYWHERE with someone they just met? And you can bet your bottom dollar if some stranger decided to walk away from me with my child I'd be screaming blood murder. Trust me, they wouldn't get far. I hate to be such a cynic but I think there is far more to this story than meets the eye.
  9. Probably not talking because it's an ongoing, active investigation. I hope they catch him or her soon. My nephew lives on that street and I have two friends who live just a short distance up Fairburn Road from there.
  10. The post above your last one. I remember that. Not far from where the latest murder happened.
  11. You can be friends, at least short term, and not respect the person. They were friends, short term. Once my daughter found out how the neighbor played the system, she lost what little respect she had for the neighbor. She was as sad for the commentary on life that her friend lived as she was the loss of the friendship. She has made new friends since.
  12. You won't see me defending mechanics or the government. I put them in the same category.
  13. Again, it really does not sound like an instrument panel/gauge cluster is what the OP needs. If she has checked in to this enough to know that one from a salvage yard is $3500 and everyone is telling her she can get one for $65 at a salvage yard, common sense would dictate that SOMEONE is wrong. Either the OP is mistaken about it being a "cluster gauge" (or gauge cluster or instrument panel) or someone is trying to screw her over royally by saying it costs $3500 from a salvage vehicle. Then again, everyone may be wrong and someone is trying to screw her over.
  14. Why not be friends with them? Just because they are different than you is no reason not to be friends. They were actually interesting people once you got past the way they lived. The mom and the daughter absolutely adored my granddaughters and were generous with their time and spent a good deal of time with them. Like I said, they were far from hood rats. The mom and my daughter are very close in age and they just kind of hit it off. I think they were both looking for a friend and found one in each other. It really opened my daughter's eyes to the world when she got to know her nei
  15. My daughter's neighbors were far from "hood rats" and where they live is far from the 'hood. The mother was actually quite articulate and pretty well educated. She just saw a way to make better money living off the government than being honest and working. She tried to tell my son in law that because HE had a job and got money, he was supposed to give her some of it. Why? Because he's white and she's not and he owed it to her. Swear to God, that is what my daughter said the neighbor said to her husband when he asked why he was supposed to give her some of his earnings. They both were st
  16. Thank you for making my point clearer.
  17. I was thinking that exact same thing last night, too. How those who work harder or smarter are more successful than those who think everything is theirs just for the taking or who think they "deserve" what others have without putting forth the effort. One of our neighbors up there is an excellent example of that. Grew up in Mississippi to a single mom. Has worked his ass off, working full time and then several part-time jobs as well as a couple of businesses of his own and pulled himself up from poverty. Bought one of the nicest houses on the street. He has never allowed the fact that he
  18. You took the words out of my mouth. I really was thinking the same thing last night.
  19. It actually depends on the weight but overall, yes F250s are exempt.
  20. It's a line of greeting cards, I think from Hallmark. They are aimed at the black consumer. Some of their products show (or have drawings of) darker skinned people.
  21. Something tells me that isn't what she needs. Even new those aren't $3500. Besides a cluster gauge doesn't have anything to do with emissions.
  22. Unfortunately, I believe that is true. We owned a rental house and the first couple we rented it to were a very nice black couple in their late 40s. He TOLD us he didn't like or trust white people. We had to earn his trust, even though he was our tenant. I don't know that we ever did but I hope so. We treated him fairly, told him up front we would treat him like anyone else and that we expected him to treat us fairly. Except for the huge burnt place in the kitchen floor that he covered up with a rug when he moved out, I think he did treat us fair.
  23. Yeah, we loved that about our 250. That and the comfort on long rides.
  24. I've seen some of those cards that were much more what I was looking for. Got them, too. I am reading a book right now that made an excellent point. It said that white people should just get used to it and blacks should just stop dwelling on it and all of us get on with our lives. I couldn't agree more. I'm pretty sure that when I was in school to become a medical assistant that all our classes taught us that we're all the same. We all have hearts, brains, lungs, livers, kidneys, hair, skin. What the hell difference does it make if our skin is a different color? We're all the
  25. Yep: Under the Clean Air Act (1990), states are required to implement vehicle emissions inspection programs, known as I/M programs (for Inspection and Maintenance), in metropolitan areas whose air quality does not meet federal standards. In some states, only certain counties have to have them. For example, in New Mexico, only one county is required to have them. Here in Florida, NONE are required.
