  1. Didn't say you could. That was my opinion of the "facts" presented, that welfare pays more than working.
  2. A couple of favorites of mine in that list. Love, love, love "The Longest Yard". Always like Nick Adams. Gone way too soon, too.
  3. I'd stick it out with the COBRA until the first of the year if that's still an option. You can get coverage after October 1 by going to healthcare.gov https://www.healthcare.gov/ It won't go into effect until January 1, but you can NOW get an estimate of what it will cost.
  4. Doubtful they were. Who gave the description for the sketches anyway?
  5. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/19/ayvani-hope-perez_0_n_3953437.html?ncid=webmail1 Authorities in Georgia have revealed a new link between a kidnapped teen's mother and one suspect in her daughter's abduction. Police records show that Maria Corral and suspect Juan Alberto Contreras-Rodriguez were arrested in a 2012 marijuana trafficking bust in which authorities seized 500 pounds of pot, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. On Wednesday, Corral's daughter, 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez, was found alive one day after being taken at gunpoint from her suburban Atlanta home
  6. Yeah, as long as he doesn't start talking, he's really purdy to look at.
  7. We got up at 5:30 and the moon was absolutely gorgeous! We could almost see to get dressed without turning on a light. It was shining over the head of our bed and really lit up the room. Worth getting up for. Only wish I'd been able to go down to the bay to get pictures of it setting.
  8. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr matey! I'd give my booty to this pirate!
  9. Severe side effects from the flu shot occur in about 1-2 people per million doses.
  10. I asked my husband specifically if the shot hurt and he said "well, I have so much other pain, I probably didn't notice". He did say his arm was a little sore. BUT about the time he got the shot we were in the middle of trying to pack and move and close on a house so you could have hit both of us with a 2x4 and we wouldn't have blinked.Vince Lombardi would have proud of us because we played through the pain.
  11. You don't want the TWO shots you have to get if you have an injury, though. My mom stuck a pitchfork in her foot and had not had a tetanus shot in forever. She had to have TWO shots.
  12. My neurologist seemed to think the headaches were "weekend" headaches. Just a variety of migraine. He said it was due to the stress I was under during the week with my job. And yes, he knew my employer. Part of why he said it was stress from my job causing the headaches. I did notice in later years, after I left that job, that being around a lot of cigarette smoke would trigger the headaches. One of the worst ones I EVER had was the day after Christmas after having five smokers in my house. After that, I started insisting that they go outside to smoke.
  13. Considering I've known people who ended up in ICU from having the flu and who died from pneumonia, a little bit of discomfort is worth it to me to have piece of mind. Pneumonia shot was painful? Wow! I know some injections are very painful--penicillin in particular--but didn't realize the pneumonia shot could be. I think my husband had a sore arm but he didn't mention it being painful. Then again, he lives with daily, constant pain from spinal stenosis so he might not have noticed. Seriously.
  14. Oh gosh yes!!! I even wanted the bathroom to be dark when I was in there vomiting from the headache. I'm not sure the worst hangover I ever had was as bad as ANY migraine I ever had. And every Saturday, regular as clockwork, I had a migraine.
  15. One time I felt like I'd been run over by a Mack truck. The other times I felt like I'd been run over by a convoy of Mack trucks that then proceeded to back up and run over me again. Or in my infamous words to my former boss when he called and I was sick: I sound worse than I feel. I then went back to sleep and when I woke up I felt worse than I sounded and was praying for death.
  16. I hear people say they had the flu and then when they describe it, I realize that they had a bad cold. There IS a difference. My husband and I both had it back about 1989 or 1990. We owned our own business and managed to go into work about 2 hours each morning before going home and going to bed for the rest of the day. Our then 9 or 10 year old daughter was cooking for us and taking care of us. I had it again in the mid 1990s. Miserable doesn't begin to describe it. It was over Thanksgiving, too. And like you, I had it in 2005. The day I got sick, my mom was in the ho
  17. Allergies change, too. What could be mild or even non-existent this week could cause major problems next week. My hubby never had problems with allergies until about 2 years ago. He developed a cough and just couldn't shake it. He would sneeze a lot, too. Mostly in the evening when he was sitting in the living room watching TV, but at other times, too. I was to the point of insisting he go to the doctor because the cough got worse and he just could not shake it. We had a soft spot in our foyer floor about the same time. He decided to take up the laminate and see what was going on wi
  18. Regardless of whether or not the flu strains change during the year it won't have any impact on the flu shot you get. Flu shots are actually formulated about a year in advance, so in all reality you're getting a flu shot for the strain from last year. I wouldn't wait too long to get the flu shot. I usually get mine by mid October because as someone else said, it takes a couple of weeks to be effective. And J's Mom is 100% correct. The flu shot is manufactured with dead (attenuated) virus and cannot give you the flu. One can have a reaction to the ingredients but not get the flu.
  19. Do you have a mold allergy?
  20. I get a flu shot every year. OK, I take that back. One year about four or five years ago I did not get one because they ran out and then I forgot about it. No, they don't make me sick. Might give me a bit of a headache for a day or two. And my arm will be sore from the injection but that happens with virtually ANY injection anywhere. I have not yet had the pneumonia shot but will get one and will get a shingles shot when I turn 60. Hubby had the pneumonia shot and other than a little bit of soreness in his arm, it didn't have an effect on him. He will get his shingles shot in
  21. At least you don't have to worry about where you'll sleep.
  22. That's a shame. They only sell a limited amount here, but at least they do have some. What about Wild West Traders on Austell Road or Stoddard's in Douglasville?
  23. Whoever was looking for reloading supplies, have you checked Academy? Don't know about the one in Hiram as I never went there, but the one down here has some reloading supplies. And a great selection of firearms.
