  1. I always did when I had steady income....lay off's change every facet of life. Imagine KNOWING you're gonna get hit with a $35 penalty when it's the only way you can keep your lights on. My pay checks are not steady...they rely on the customers' ability to pay me and most of all WHEN they can pay me. This was new territory for me about 6 years ago...however, it hasn't changed. In fact, it's gotten worse. Sometimes priorities cost money when you know something is on the way, only not in a "Holy Nick Of Time"....per-se. My business is VERY localized, and it's all too apparent that people in
  2. No ONE can tell you too....you are so right!!
  3. I've got 3 friends that get them all the time. They say it's inherited, or you're born with the gene, whatever. They also say it's worse than giving birth to a baby...more like giving birth to razor blades. OUCH!!! Thank GOD, I've never had one!!
  4. O.......Kay!!! Now that was just NAAAISTY!!!!
  5. Thanks to the PM'er who has offered some help. Maybe this will pass soon. Meanwhile, I've been in the garage making my OWN lights for my trailer. Seems the ones you can get really cheap are just that....REALLY cheap!! I'm custom building my own using automotive hardware! Lucky for me....they use my truck's battery for POWER!!! So far, it's taken almost 2 hours, but I'm almost done (had to stop in for a breather). Time, I've got....money I don't. Besides, these puppies should last a LONG time!!
  6. I remember when this all started with our commercial site developments before it made its way into our own homes...."Radio-Read Meters". That is so tempting!!! I do it the same way I have done other bills. Only this particular entity seems to be inept.
  7. I taught my kids that tobacco was more addictive than heroin. It worked on ONE of them. Go figure....I was young and stupid once, and I am still addicted to smoking. So far, no ill effects, only by the grace of God, I would suspect (or heredity...my father still smoke like a freight train and no problems). Nonetheless, since I can't quit (like someone said, you have to want to) I can't run my mouth enough to these young'ns out there telling them to quit while it's easy....because every year that goes by, it's harder and harder.
  8. I guess I'm not that savvy and don't know the difference between the power company and the bank, since it comes from the same place. In any event, I am still highly disturbed by all of this...and the burden of proof is on Greystone to work it out. I used to just mail checks until I fell on hard time, then I would go to the branch office. Then I found I could save gas by doing it online. Live and learn.
  9. As a footnote to your other post about smoking, I can only say this, and my DR. TOO...I still smoke, but I lost about 75-80 lb's. and he said I was healthier than I was 8 years ago when I first started seeing him, by a long shot. Smoking is NOT good for you, I am aware of that. But, apparently, obesity is the more urgent killer in the short run- risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, triglycerides, etc. Not to mention, I also feel about 20 years younger too. For every smoker I have known and still know, I can count 5 times as many that perished to being overweight. It seems to me, that in
  10. I went to make an online payment, and two things were unsettling. The latter, more than the first. First, I noticed my bill was HIGHER than when it was hot outside and I had the AC on. Not to mention, I was also working away from home and was using almost no electricity. SECOND- I went to make an online payment, and clicked, printed, like always. I filed the invoice and something caught my eye...it was NOT my banking account no. nor my bank!!! I just emailed Greystone and am going to the office tomorrow. Just a head's up folks....this is a serious flaw! How did someone else's bank
  11. I have been told by deveral in teh banking iundustry that if someone steals under 2K, the bank won't puruse the thief. Correct me if I'm wrong (any more bankers out there) but they said that thieves, knwowing this would only steal under the cap, then move to the next account. No wonder it's so rampant!
  12. Since that's a national average, I bet if they focused on the Southern states, the percentage would be much higher. You said it.
  13. Just call 678-315-8794 to schedule repair. Glenn
  14. I am getting short split second (and twice locked up) "black screen" boxes that block half the site's image. This has occurred using 3 different computers, and it's not happening on any other sites I go to. Just wondering if something nefarious was afoot.....Pubby??? LPPT??? Anyone? I also had problems downloading images a few times.
  15. Last time I had that problem, I just backed up all my word doc's and pst files and reloaded the Office program. Of course, this was after several attempts to clear the problem (it was with my Outlook). Sometimes it's just faster to back up the files and reload.
  16. Sounds cool! Actually, the main computer I work on was a speed demon in its day. I have to remind myself that it is now about 7 years old....poor thing! It's a 2.9GHz dual core, so it's still okay. But man...they have some that are so much faster now. The biggest problem with my main computer is when my $600 graphics card went out. I didn't realize how much faster my computer was with that bad boy in there. I need to get another fast GC, but money just won't allow it for now.
  17. Don't they though! I never had a problem with it when it was mine...of course, I maintained it well, and didn't play games on it and click anything that said CLICK ME!!!! However, I have been having some major problems on the pcom site.......anyone else??? I thought it was my computer, but all other sites I go to are fine. Anything going here that anyone knows of??? This is on at least 2 other computers, too.
  18. For what it's worth, I've seen and heard about too many problems with Toshiba Satellite laptops. I bought one about 3 years ago. It was fine for a while, then my X-wife took it. It's a paperweight now, but that could be her fault and not the comp's! Nah, but I have read, seen, and heard about problem with these LT's. Just sayin'. Personally, I HATE laptops anyway. To me, there's nothing like a smokin' fast Desktop with a big, fat monitor, sitting atop my big desk with my comfortable leather chair to sit in. But, I understand that laptops are handy for people on the go. So, they do ser
  19. I agree completely!! I don't advocate the use if illicit drugs, but making them illegal has been big money for thugs, gang wars, crooked cops, DEA, and plenty of shootings. It's also been a great way to fund war over seas. having said that, I'm not fond of reading what some people are saying about Paulding Deputies....not one bit. I happen to be friends with many of them. Some I know through the mower business, some through music, and some are relatives to close friends of mine. Moreover, in the 3 or 4 check points I have driven through (PC) every officer I ever dealt with was very profess
  20. Shoot me your address. I'd be happy to pick them up!
  21. I have never believed in minimum wage. I simply believe that you should get what you are worth. Could be less, or could be more....that is up to the person who got hired. The last young buck I hired was a 25 yr old "go getter". He worked very hard. I made a deal with him up front that he would receive 25% of what he repaired. When he went the extra mile, I paid him up to 40%, even half (50%), would take him out and buy him lunch, and things like that. I think you should pay someone what they are worth and I abhor the government dictating to me that I should pay the same amount to a worthless s
  22. Absolutely...I know those Honda's like the back of my hand. It may require me taking the carb off and tanking it at the house then bringing it back and putting it on though. But that's a lot better than paying for a NEW carb that will cost you more than the rebuild and labor combined. PM me your address. I guess you know I'm mobile again and brought all my stuff back home, right? If it's just a carb problem, then you're looking at about $80 total. That's labor, rebuilding, making two trips so I can take it home to tank it. etc. A NEW carb for most Honda's costs more than the whole deal I'm sh
  23. I would suggest calling Frank's place, down Ridge Road from where I live...678-266-0041. Tell him Glenn referred you to him. He's got a nice sized bone yard, and has helped me get used parts at the last minute for customers in a hurry, or not wanting to spend a fortune on something new.
  24. Since I have received a few calls from people who are wanting to get rid of their riding mowers, in favor of buying a new next year, I thought it might be a good idea to post a thread for you folks. I can help you get yours sold. I am in a postition now where lots of people are looking for used riders, so I can offer you an advantage on helping you sell yours. Just give me a call, let me know what you've got, the condition it is in, and we can go from there. The truck and trailer is ready for pick up. Basically, I assess the mower, and give you an estimate of what it would bring, then pick it
  25. Thank you all. Your support....well, I just don't have the words....awesome is what comes to mind. Love you guys!!
