Should schools be more involved with teaching the dangers of guns?
Mariposa replied to cricket1176's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't have a problem with gun safety issues being addressed at school. We have talked about it in Health, character ed, and once the resource officer spoke about it in class. The only issue I have is that if it is added to the curriculum, or another responsibility is added, something else needs to be taken off. We are more than maxed out on responsibilities and time. Every time we have picture day, assemblies, special events, guest speakers, meetings for sports, character ed., sex ed., etc that is more instructional time lost on the standards, and there is no letting up on expectati -
I normally stay clear of the religious discussion forums because you end up with the heated and circular arguments...sort of like this thread. Just have to say that I am surprised at the open hostility toward Christianity. Sign of the times.

Maybe they misunderstood. The PPO option was dropped so now the HMO and High Deductible something or another are the only options. As in my case, my PPO will end so I will go to an HMO. Maybe they heard the teacher talking about this.

Thanks for the correction.

Believe what you want, but I know that I can easily turn the sound of any yoga dvd and just do the exercises. I'm a conservative Christian and it will be exercise to me. I can also use my christian yoga (stretching) whatever you want to call it and I don't see how it would be contrary to my faith. I would not attend a class where the spiritual side is being taught that is against my personal beliefs. I also would not go to a pole dancing class for exercise, but that's also my personal beliefs. My choice. I personally don't see a problem with a christian leader warning christians that y

I believe that many religions exist, but the only truth is found in Christianity. I respectfully disagree with the beliefs of others, that does not mean I am bashing them. The views of Dr. Mohler and others who are talking out about yoga may be a little more extreme than my beliefs, but I think that its valid to warn those who are Christians that some things that are taught in yoga are contrary to Christian beliefs. If you are Christian, be wary about practicing yoga. I don't understand why its not ok to say that teachings of yoga are contrary to Christian beliefs, but it is ok to ou

Maybe the new ones are better, but I used to clean houses while I was in school and the flat surfaces were a pain to clean sometimes. I came across several that had marks that would not come off and you can only use a special cleaner on them. I don't like cooking on them, but that's just my personal opinion.

Its not the exercise involved that's the problem. I do have a Christian yoga dvd. There are eastern religious/mysticism beliefs that can be tied to the yoga that's the problem.

The funny part is that my friend and I were all freaked out over a bag of fireworks, sort of. I am so glad I didn't call the police.
-
AND THE WINNER IS... That's it! Oh good, it wasn't drugs. I'm glad I didn't call the police. I've never seen those before.

Nope.

It was a vacation house in Florida. We found it not long before we left so we just told the owner about it being there. The reason we didn't call the police was that it looked like actual, natural, small rocks. It doesn't look like any of the drug pics on the internet. I just couldn't figure out why anyone would make marble sized packets of tiny rocks??? If I had to do it over again, I would call the police to look at it, and risk the embarrassment of reporting small gravel.
-
I ONLY touched the paper, washed it down the disposal, and promptly washed my hands. But... my friend and I discussed whether it was better to toss it, leave it, or call the police. We just told the owner about it when we left and let them figure it out.

A previous topic made me think of this. When I was staying in a rental house recently, we found a plastic bag with small, marble size packets in it. They looked like twisted up wax paper. I opened one and there were little rocks inside. The rocks looked like actual tiny rocks, not clear crystals, but greyish colored, similar to gravel but the size of Nerds Candy. I didn't smell it, touch it, taste it, or smoke it, so not sure what it was. Anyone have any idea?...from what you've heard.. not personal experience, of course.

Oh! I was wondering where I left that! -
I saw my first one here in 1993. I have no idea why my brain remembers these things. Maybe they are more active in the cooler weather? I've seen a lot more roadkill of all kinds lately.

I don't even care anymore when it comes to this race. Either way, we have GOOBERnatorial candidates

Even if she jumped and was not pushed, why would he (they) just leave her there?

I know--off topic-- oh well How did they get to the Hydra station and why? What the heck is the Hydra station? ( I gave up after a couple of years and returned to the show at the end, caught a few episodes in the middle)

I agree. Lost answered NO questions. I would have just been happy if they explained the polar bear from the first season.

I was going to post this, too. You beat me to it. I didn't even like the show that much, but it HAS to be the best ending ever.

I'm so sorry. I completely understand how hard it is to let go of a family member, whether human or not. She's is truly LUCKY to have such a caring home.

I choose not to observe it either day. Its an evening for shopping. The stores are deserted.

I don't know but that area gets a lot of crime from the apartments nearby

Cloudland Canyon area is nice and lots to do in the NW GA, NE AL, SW TN area. I think I'm hitting the beach, instead of camping, unless a darn hurricane messes up my plans.
