Happy New Year's to all of you! -
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation launched the state's new online Animal Abuse Registry on January 1. The public database is the first of its kind in the country. Animal shelters like McKamey Animal Center are looking forward to using the new registry, saying it's another step to ensure a rescued pet won't be adopted back into an abusive home. "I think people have always taken (animal abuse) seriously. I just think the people that could make a difference are taking it more seriously," said Jamie McAloon, McKamey's Executive Director. I've felt/heard a few of these booms. Maybe it had something to do with the recent weather changes? I mean it has been unusually cooler in recent weeks. I'll try to ask my geologist cousin about it.

DEA raids clinics, pharmacies in 'pill mill' crackdown
Brian replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It must be easy to get pills here in Georgia? I was wondering if that is why one of my paternal aunts makes her monthly trips to Ringgold from eastern Tennessee. She sells them. My oldest cousin's wife, a doctor (more like an assistant doctor) worked at a pain clinic part-time that was recently raided. From what I was told that, she was questioned and let go. -
I've seen several different name of places on really old maps of Paulding County. Name of places I have seen like Nebo, Brownsville, Huntsville, Divide, Ash, Huntsville, Brock, Iron Stab, etc, etc. Paulding and Polk counties at one time were one county known as, Van Wert (or van Wert) County.

I am a bit behind with interesting news... Now I am a little p'd -- I had decided to give in and paid $100 a year for Amazon Prime to get the darn items delivered to me quickly. I am about 3 days late to cancel my 30-day Prime trial! Now Walmart is planning to compete against Amazon. They would only charge you $50/year for 3-day shipping. They have a much attractive domain than of Amazon's. It is Jet.com. You can read the story: Wal-Mart to Challenge Amazon Prime With $50 Shipping Service
