I concur. I never had had a heat pump system myself but know many that have. When temps drop this far the system just can not handle the desired interior temps. Never been a believer in heat pump systems, but again never had one. Guess it would work well out in Arizona now

Depends on your insurance policy. Most policies state that YOU need to take proactive measures to protect the property from futher damage (such as water intrusion) when a storm, fire, or such has caused damage. My suggestions would be to: Call your insurance agent to brief him on the problems before calling the insurance carrier (remember, your agent works for you and is there to assist you with questions and concerns). Get a roofer out to temporarily repair the area leaking or cover up the roof with a big blue tarp (proactive approach not to cause futher damage) Start contacting roofing

Black mold is nothing to mess around with. Contact your insurance co asap to have them come out and inspect. Hard to know if moisture is still there, but it is the perfect place for mold to grow. And if the water leaked down to your first floor ceiling is a concern. With drywall there is not much bleach or kilz will do to encapsulate the mold. My bet would be the insurance co would recommend to cut out the affected areas and replace with new drywall
