  18. Clayton sat up in the bed at 5:42 AM. He was sick of being captive to Angelo and his band mindless. zombie goons. Of course, he was proud to be among them just a few short weeks ago. "How did I get myself into this crap", he thought to himself multiple times during the last ten days, but he thought it again this morning. They had moved him to a room on the lower floor of Angelo's house. Clayton didn't know why they moved him and really didn't care. He just wanted away from Angelo and his mob. "What is Walter doing"? he screamed inside his head! What, is he too worried about the Beer Hou

  20. Life in New York in 1927 was an exciting time. People migrated to the United States from every corner of the globe with the majority hailing from Europe. The opportunity for freedom and the prospect of potential wealth was the dream that drew so many immigrants to New York Harbor. Frans Brownstone and his step brother, Carlos Batista were among the thousands who decided to uproot their families from Europe and travel to this new world of opportunity. But obtaining passage to America was not always an easy task. Crowded ships of immigrants presented all manner of dangers. The ship's mast
  21. Brownstone didn't break stride as he exited the restaurant. He buzzed past the head waiter, but he caught up to Browstone and opened the door for him on the way out. "Leaving so soon Mr. Brownstone?...Have a fine evening". Brownstone didn't glance at the waiter. No tip this time. He handed the valet his key while forming the next steps in his mind. I need to call Ray immediately, he thought. Time is running short. The valet appeared with his car. It didn't seem to be damaged, so he gave this guy a tip. Can't blame this guy for doing a days work. He's too low on the totem poll to know he w
  22. You know, if I attempted to do this for a living, I'd get laughed out of a publisher's office. I think maybe I've just read too many Reacher novels. I'll have to get on the stick early tomorrow. The rest of my day is filled with meetings. I have to admit...this is pretty fun. I appreciate photogirl allowing me to intrude on her thread.
  23. Angelo and Brownstone sat quiet for a moment, then Angelo began, "You know something, Walter? Our families used to be friends...only 30 years ago our grandfathers were in business together". Brownstone replied, "Legitimate business don't you mean"? That has nothing to do with us and it has nothing to do with now"! "What you have belonged to my grandfather and now it belongs to me", Angelo said. "Just a minute ago you said our families were in business together, so at least half of it's mine, right"? Brownstone corrected with a grin. 'Don't get smart with me"! Angelo raised
