  1. My kiddo started out with a 3-1 crib and full, adult sized dressers/furniture. She's six, and can still fit in the 'toddler' bed, but we're moving her up to a bigger bed. She's worn the toddler bed out so much that it'll never survive as a full. I don't know many people who convert theirs past a toddler bed, but they are good for that transition stage. Her adult furniture will probably stick around unless we just decide to buy new furniture for her later - it was mine when I was a kid/teen, too.
  2. Went to D'ville and went shopping with Dxh and Mini-Me, then left her there for the weekend. I hate every other weekend. LOVE that she gets so much time with her daddy....hate her being gone. Cried the whole way home, stopped by a friends for pizza, got home and started contracting...so now I'm resting and getting ready for bed. Yayyy for my wild and crazy Friday nights!
  3. Ice cream. I have yet to find an ice cream that's chocolate-y enough for me, without adding brownies and crap to it. I want SUPER dark chocolate ice cream. /sigh/ Lately, I've been craving milk constantly, and honey roasted peanut butter. I fix this by having peanut butter graham crackers or a sammich and a glass of milk before I go to bed.
  4. The Colony, and it definitely ended weird. They finally got the boat to work, made it down the bayou to the house they were going to inhabit, and it had been taken over....and they didn't air another episode after that. So ticked me off.
  5. As an art student, I'm calling BS on this one. All the way back before to the time of Christ, painters have used a halo, often around the head instead of above it, to signify someone holy - not just Christ, but also Mary and, in catholic paintings, sometimes the Saints as well. Joseph occasionally has a halo, depending on the artist. Even other religions such as Buddhism, and ancient Greek art have halos of different colors to signify the same thing. No way this wasn't intentional.
  6. I'm a total 'this too shall pass' and 'If it won't matter in 80 years, why worry about it now?' type of person...when I'm not pregnant. I did, however, take St. John's Wort to help with fatigue and to calm anxiety during test-time. Not being able to take it while pregnant has definitely shown. I can't take Ginkgo Biloba, either. That...that's how I've made it thought the past 34 weeks.
  7. 5th picture down - the one with the statues and rocks - that's mah dream pool. I'd even just like to stay someplace that had a pool like that.
  8. I didn't know that! I was a Bare Minerals fan until I found Everyday Minerals online. You get giant tubs in comparison for less than half the price, it covers just as well if not better, and it doesn't contain bismuth (which is what most women have an itchy reaction to with Bare Minerals). I got an entire line of concealer, foundation, bronzer, eye shadows, blushes, brushes, etc. for $56 after shipping.
  9. Ivory soap is great at cleaning oil build-up. Most cloth-diapering mamas use it to remove the oils from their prefold diapers when they're brand new, so they absorb more. Proactiv really does rock - if you can find it cheaply. I've used a combination of Proactiv and tea tree oil for years and my acne didn't reappear until I got pregnant with this little one. Once pregnant, my face went nuts and I tried atleast a dozen different products. I finally got the Mary Kay cleaner line - expensive, but SO worth it. I got it in September, still have a ton left, and have had clear skin ever s
  10. Yer kid hugged me and mine yesterday. I'll survive. Mini-me's been coughing and sniffling today, but I'm blaming the stupid weather.
  11. OMG - Nev thinks the exact same thing. Not only is it the pirate school, but it's the school mommy went to, so I'm a top secret pirate and I just don't want her to know. 'But daddy doesn't hide that he's a pirate, mommy, he even wears the skull bandana!' I actually can't think of any delusions I had when I was a kiddo. I often daydreamed that I would be adopted by a librarian and live in a library - Hey, there's one! I thought librarians lived IN the library!
  12. My sister got over $600 in laser hair removal (four treatments total) for $130. I was shocked!
  13. Kiddo picked dinner: Garlic roasted pork loin, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls (her favorite thing ever)
  14. They don't spam you. I get one email a day telling me what the 'Groupon' for the day is - and they're really awesome deals! Some of it is little stuff, some of it is stuff I would love to try but never had the money or have never though of trying but would love to experience. One was for a $50 painting class - you go into the class, they provide the supplies, and everybody paints their own version of the same thing...SO much fun, and only $15. They had High Memberships super cheap just before Christmas - all sorts of stuff. I haven't started getting 'spam' from anybody else, either -
  15. Back when I did go to church, I went to a 'come as you want' kind of church. While I never wore super revealing clothing, I did dress 'differently' than most and often came in my favorite boots (see below). My attire included skirts and dresses from Hot Topic (appropriate length, but definitely on the gothy side), I had multiple facial piercings, and several of my tattoos showed. Did I care? Not particularly. I wanted to learn about God...find God...and who cares what someone is wearing when they're trying to find God? I just wore what was in my closet at the time.
  16. That was funny. Actually, at East Paulding, I had several teachers over my three years there that had a 'lecture' style of teaching. They were mostly history professors, but my Psychology, Sociology, and Econ teacher often gave lectures as well.
  17. We seem to have the same theory/belief about education. Now, if only our girls got along. I think my issue is really that the educational system is screwed up - lots of things need changing, lots of things should be happening/not happening, etc. But, the simple fact is, they're not. So, I can either say 'It should be done this way' and leave it at that, or I can step up and do what I need to do to make sure my kiddo is learning everything she needs to learn. With everything the teachers have to deal with nowadays, I expect very little from them except communication - let me know what
  18. The bolded? That's me. My mom had me doing workbooks and 'busy work' at home from Pre-k to about 5th grade, even on weekends, school breaks, and when I was sick. To me, learning was fun and I loved doing workbooks...but I thoroughly believe it was because she made it fun. Middle school and high school? She had a job, then I had a job, then I had a boyfriend...I had straight A's until 10th grade and even then only dropped to few B's...never did ANY homework unless it was a project, essay, or major grade. Wound up not only graduationg with a lower GPA than the 4.0 I could have had...but I also
  19. On a completely different board I'm on, someone is complaining because their kiddo is assigned homework on the weekends. The parent told the teacher this was unacceptable, the teacher stated that it was how she ran her classroom, and the offered to call the parent that evening to discuss their concerns. Parent refuses to talk to the teacher because 'it's ridiculous' and is upset that they have homework to deal with on the weekends when they have plans. I get wanting to spend family time together. I really do. But, my kiddo is in Kindergarten, and not a day goes by that she doesn't do
  20. I do believe this is my most favorite p.com quote, ever. ...closely followed by this one.
  21. I want to take my pillow and my quilt, but I'm so scared of it getting...umm...dirty? Not in the delivery room, but even in the recovery room.
  22. I didn't get a pic of me and my nurse last time. Should have - I grew up with her daughter and didn't even know she was a nurse until she walked into my room! I'm going to have a doula there for the labor, delivery, and an hour or two afterwards, and one of the things she does is journal everything. After that, it's up to me to remember. I guess I should unpack my box of journals and toss one in the bag! I stayed from Wednesday until Sunday with Mini-Me - no complications, just scared to death to go home. Every day my mid-husband would come in and say 'Ready yet?'. I'd give
  23. I don't have a laptop. But I didn't even think about the button-down shirt and sports bras. Thanks! That's genius! With Mini-Me, I checked in on Wednesday, she was born on Thursday afternoon, and I didn't leave until Sunday. I'm using the same doctors, same hospital, and a similar birth plan...so I'm not packing light. Plus, there's no longer anyone to 'run home' and get stuff except my mom and sister, and they haven't a clue where to find anything at my place.
