  1. I didn't say they were. But she's not a lazy-a** freeloader, so they're all not lazy-ass freeloaders. And all visitors to Six-Flags are delinquents, all Obama supporters aren't African-American's on welfare, all Bush supporters weren't racist, white supremacists, and all Paulding County citizens aren't trashy redhecks.
  2. Oh great lord, I was joking. I have no idea if she has or hasn't dropped a darn water bottle.
  3. Hm. Incredibly awesome cousin of mine has been participating in OWS. Straight-A student in high school, graduated top of her class, worked herself through college plus grad school (zero financial aid...not even student loans) and is now some big-shot architect in NYC. Upper-Middle-Class income if not upper class, super nice modern condo in the city, works her tush off in her career as well as running a side business. I'll tell her to get off her lazy, freeloadin' a** and pick up her waterbottle. p.s. Stereotypes suck.
  4. I hike all the time at 5pm with a 7 month old baby. BUT, never in an area we don't know, and if it's an area we've been but don't know as well, never without the handheld GPS. I also carry the baby in a wrap on my back, and he pretty much just conks out after half an hour of staring at trees in awe.
  5. Was there a drag queen involved? >curious<
  6. Being a doctor doesn't make someone a good person. It simply means they had the money, determination and/or brains to make it through many, many years of education. I can think of a couple dozen very, very smart serial killers. Unfortunately, people of her social status are rarely suspected of insanity such as this, as evidenced by the 'Do you find it odd' blah blah blah regarding her social status and education at the end of one of the articles posted. Geniuses can be evil. Rich people can be evil. Poor and stupid people can be evil. Poor kid.
  7. Finn is almost 7 months, and just about to reach the weight limit on his car seat. The OH wants to get the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite/Triton, but we're not sure it'll fit in my car/his Wrangler, and we're not looking to upgrade to the Odyssey that will fit our carseat growing crew until early Spring-ish. Any other recommendations? Anyone with an older car that has one of these? I have a 90's model Nissan (that I'm sad to give up, because it doesn't have a payment ). Anyone with one of these or something similar in an older car that can't use the LATCH system? That part bugs me...most c
  8. I so <3 you. I actually <3 the CFL's. I replaced my entire apartment with them over 2.5 years ago, and those bulbs moved with me to this apartment...and they're still going strong. If I could find white light that didn't give me a headache in another bulb, I'd go for it, but these work for me. I've actually been considering swapping out the chandelier here because it's gold, and even the CFL's with white light reflect and turn the dining room yellow. I started off using them in my studio - for some reason they're truer to the actual color than incandescent. Magically, I stop
  9. OH's first idea was a water element of some sort, but we can't figure out what. lol. We'll find something, I'm sure. Poor kid doesn't have room for an easel. :/ We're going to try to get a small desk (like a school desk) that can double as a homework and an art space. Once we get a house (in Feb), we'll probably set her up an easel in my own studio area - she likes to destress the same way I do, and she generally tries to do it in my area anyway. However, my 'area' is a corner of the living room and we don't both fit. We're also saving the wall mural for when we move into a house as we
  10. Oh, I believe it. Other Half gets all because every time I study I turn on classical. I know, right? It's one thing after another with this kiddo, and everything seems to be linked. Aww, thanks! I'm just trying to do my best. With the 6 month old here, it's hard to give her as much one-on-one as I did previously but she doesn't seem to mind the two-on-one as much as I thought she would. He definitely doesn't help her ADHD any, though.
  11. ...you shoulda seen the other half's face when I said 'hammock'. Yep! She definitely gets outdoor time, and actually is mildly addicted to hiking. We pretty much hiked and swam all summer.
  12. This is exactly what I think we're going for. Her favorite cd is actually Jewel's lullaby cd - super calm, I just need a CD player to go in her room. Right now she has VERY bright, obnoxious princess bedding. We may wind up in a war if I try to get rid of those, so they'll probably be the last to go. We're simplyfiying everything 'round here. I've been getting rid of bags and bags of stuff. Tics are rapid, repetitive movements or vocal utterances. They may be motor (like excessive eye blinking) or vocal (such as a habitual cough or chronic repetitive throat clearing noises), chro
  13. THIS would be awesome...but I live in an apartment. lol. She has all of these. And the only 'noise making' toys she has are her Leapster Learning Center toys, which have helped SO much with the dyslexia and learning issues. We're hitting her room (again) this weekend and getting rid of a bunch. Going back to basics, really. Oh, she was defiant alright...had nothing to do with any kind of disorder, though. lol. It had to do with mama not disciplining often enough (this mama, not mine). We're considering her ADHD meds, but the tics actually started two years ago, and sh
  14. I hate food scents, but I have some of those meltable things and one pack I have smells like freshly baked brownies. That thing is heaven! ....now that I think about it, my other two favorite candles are gingerbread and pumpkin spice, but also only during the Fall/Winter. Any other time of the year and it's fresh linens and the like in this house.
  15. I've been talking about Mini-Me on here since I was pregnant with her and most have watched or read my interesting experiences with her over the years. As of this summer, she has been diagnosed with: ADHD- Hyperactivity Impulsive Type Adjustment Disorder with Disturbance of Conduct Mixed Expressive Language Disorder Oppositional Defiance Disorder <-- I highly disagree with this one. Sensory Processing Disorder Dyslexia *possibly* Tourettes <-- this is our newest issue and a melatonin deficiency. Those who have met her, would probably never guess any of this except the first
  16. Did the email address start with an M? If so, I emailed her two days ago and haven't heard anything either. I've been promising Mini-Me for TWO YEARS that she could join in 1st grade. She came home with that letter just bouncing off the walls excited.
  17. Whoa. but Oregon has the ocean? And it's rarely hot? Just an idea. lol.
  18. Move to Oregon? They have a $55 car registration/tag no matter what kind you drive.
  19. Been awhile and someone asked for one of these. Lets see what I can come up with! 1) Pregnancy sucks. Royally. Even more than I remembered. 2) Labor and delivery really are different with every baby. 3) Babies never 'sleep like a baby'. Ever. 4) You can do just about anything you put your mind to - even if it's returning to college 2 days after birth. (Wtf, was I thinking?!?!) 5) People are rarely what they seem. Other times, they're exactly what they seem, and that's quite unfortunate. 6) Cloth diapers aren't nearly the hassle and nastiness everyone claimed they would be (DGITW
  20. Primus, I have a severely ADHD 6 year old - our school year started off just like yours last year (when she started Kindergarten). When we had her evaluated, her attention span was in the 7th percentile. 100 is perfect. Insanity. She's medicated now, but on a really low dose that just gets her through school, and the only reason I agreed to put her on it is she fell very, VERY far behind in school due to lack of focus. I don't know that I would have even medicated her with just that, but it started to severely effect her self-esteem. By the time she gets home she's bouncing off the
  21. I moved there after my ex and I split as well, also in a 2 bedroom with a bonus room. lol. LOVED those apartments. They are gigantic, and I love all of the windows and lighting (I was on the fourth floor without another building in view). Affording it was the problem, so I left instead of signing a third lease and came back to my old apartment complex (Magnolia Creste). Not near as big or nice, but much more affordable. While it's not as nice, I've yet to have any typical, apartment-type problems, and I lived here for 4 years before I moved to Harris Bridge. Occasional loud music that the
  22. If one hasn't been delivered yet, I have two - you ladies can definitely use one. ETA: FB me, though, cause I can't guarantee when I'll be on here again.
