  1. These wonderful folks lived a few houses down the street from us when we were kids. Sandy's presence and kindness after the death of my mother last year meant so much to us. I am sorry to learn of Danny's passing. My thoughts are with the family during this sad time.
  2. Unless they moved to another location the taxi in Dallas is no longer there ... maybe someone else knows if they are still operating.
  3. "...Kerry and Hillary Clinton.... administrations"? When did those happen? I read about this last week. My guess would be either the corporate owned media has its own reasons for not making this front page news OR everybody already knows what the response would be from both sides and doesn't see any point in re-hashing an argument that won't lead to a solution of any kind. Sadly, this is how apathy takes root and is likely the desired outcome, ultimately.
  4. I noticed at the Wal Mart in Rockmart the SA kettle & tripod were folded up in the corner inside the entrance (there was nobody outside actively accepting money at the time at either door). First time I've ever seen that.
  5. Thoughts and prayers are with Calvin's family during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed. Love to you all
  6. My cat sure did love the real ones. He would nap under it the whole time it was there. Fortunately that is all the interest he took in them.
  7. Imaginary tree for my imaginary children. Seriously though, I have a small fake one I usually put up but not this year...my (ex) husband always insisted on real trees.
  8. At least many people who are drinking TRY to drive well enough to not be pulled over. Those who text just don't give a rat's @$$. The gadget that person is using to distract you also enables them to call you if necessary, so basically there is no text so urgent it can't be ignored.
  9. I personally do not agree with the way this all came about, and I feel there should be some repercussions to discourage this kind of secrecy in matters affecting the county. That is my position on the airport and my feelings about the way our commissioners operate. Had they debated, negotiated and transacted this deal openly, we would be in a very different place today, so it is unfortunate their actions have resulted in this fiasco. I am tired of the county and the state using taxpayer money for giveaways to private corporations under the guise of 'job creation'. They think those two
  10. Ok I am confused - I got a similar e-mail from the chamber that began the same but went on to say just the opposite after the first paragraph. We are a member (for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the airport) but have not voiced any position on the matter to anyone at all nor do we intend to, for that matter. I sincerely hope that whatever list was included with this obviously altered e-mail (if that is what is being said here) wherever it was seen did only include members who have stated a position on the matter and not just a random list of businesses who are chamb
  11. Lived here all my life and had no idea. Thanks for the information.
  12. While I don't have a problem with the law allowing you to defend yourself from bodily harm with a properly licensed, legally owned firearm, I do have a problem with someone firing a gun in a public place at a person who attempted to break into a car, especially when that person was fleeing. At that point the firing of the gun seems to me to pose the bigger risk to those in the general area. That kind of thing might have been ok for Lucas McCain but there are more people (with less common sense) these days.
  13. Well, once again ours hardly changed at all...no complaints here, considering what we paid in years past when others were paying relatively low premiums by comparison.
  14. So if there was no damage why the big deal to begin with?
  15. Yeah it's really too bad he dropped out. I was interested in hearing what he had to say. **Didn't mean to include a quote here, not sure how that happened. It was empty when it posted...
  16. That is one truth of many. Another is that pointing fingers and assigning blame does not solve problems.
  17. Who on earth among the current bunch of candidates could capably handle such a situation? It is a scary proposition to think of any of them in charge of this country, much less under those circumstances. And I do not scare easily...
  18. Well if he can't be held liable for his own reckless actions, it seems unlikely to me the state could either. Unless maybe a suit was based on his having been allowed to remain on the job after multiple reprimands for similar behavior... 10-15 years ago I doubt he could have won an election, but now it seems politicians can pretty much do as they please before or after they are elected. Nobody seems to think anything of it anymore, and some of the quotes I have read from legislators in the newspaper in recent years leads me to believe they don't even feel the need to hide their unethical
  19. Thanks. Having worked with her every day for 28 years, it's almost like losing her twice - but the reality of it hasn't completely set in yet, I think.
  20. I assume he is mid to late 20s as my niece, who is 26, went to school with him at East Paulding.
  21. He might be immune as an officer but I don't know how that could be the case if he were sued individually for his recklessness. He wasn't on an emergency call, so I would hope he could be held responsible outside the scope of his job. Honestly, I am just hopeful he doesn't get off with a slap on the wrist, myself.
  22. It is tough and no, you just can't. Thank you.
