  1. Recap:

I heard sirens around 10:45pm Wed. night (I live in Faraday Woods subdivision off of Sweetwater Church Rd; 3 minutes from Heritage) so I jumped on the internet to listen to Paulding police scanner... Heard policeman on scanner say (as previously stated):

"Confirmed 10-61 (stabbing)... Whole house covered in blood..."

I then listened to scanner to get address... The initial cop was stating it incorrectly saying Ashton Dr (could tell he was nervous/shaking; must have just seen all the blood). Later on got the accurate address (in previous post). Heard on scanner helicopter was going to land over at Sweetwater Baptist Church so went over there to check things out (11:20pm)... Saw helicopter land then went over to subdivision... Talked to some teenagers at front of subdivision to see if they knew anything but they were just curious why the cops were flying by so told them what I knew... Went home and listened to scanner a little more but no more real details other than that he was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center (AMC).

Drove back to cul-de-sac and the house was surrounded with yellow crime tape... My teenager goes to South Paulding High School and I think she may know a little more when she comes home... A teenager may have been the victim... Some rumors were flying around on her twitter this morning...

Will post if I find out anything further...

  2. Someone made mention of Wendy's (again) as well... That was the rumor as well last time they started clearing there... But I heard the same thing that part of it will be an Advanced Auto Parts store...

  3. I remember reading in the paper over a year ago that part of this widening project was to build an underground tunnel to go under the railroad tracks in downtown Douglasville (at Brown St./Hwy 78 NOT Hwy 92/Hwy 78) . Finally alleviating this traffic bottleneck (although it has improved drastically with the left turn signal at Hwy 92/78). I think the "meeting sign" mentions closing 3 current railroad crossings as well.

The new Hwy 92 is to divert from the current Hwy 92 southeast just below Davis Park (when going south on Hwy 92, this park is off to the left as you go down the big hill with the firestation at the top; about a mile or so north of the tracks) and loop around back to Durelee Ln (near the Racetrac/Chic-Fil-A inersection on Hwy 92 at I-20).

No telling how long this will take and how many logjams it will create but is much needed for the future of Paulding/Douglas.

It is designed to be SIX lanes with a 24 foot high median! wowzers :o

  4. so relieved you are safe

the officers expressed concern during the pursuit that he could possibly kill some one with his speeding

I know when I was on West Hiram Pkwy (@ water works), 3 of'em passed me and the one talking about his speeding musta been the 2nd one... He had to be goin' close to 90 and that was with traffic (cars on the side of the road on both sides)... Quite dangerous...

Glad they got the job done but they need to realize not to create additional havoc as well... Guess they kept it to as much as a minimum as they could...

Once they get that adrenaline goin', I can only imagine...

  5. Is there any reason the red light at Hiram Sudie is setup the way it is?

It seems to me it'd be better off if the Hiram Pkwy direction should not go one at a time but concurrently.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but was wonderin' what everyone else thought. I assumed it was a temporary solution until the intersection or parkway was completed but I guess they figure it's the best way.

I can only assume they think the left hand turn lane will get backed up too far and affect the traffic going straight.

Also, isn't the plan to make this 2 lanes going both ways? I know when they originally did West Hiram Parkway the paper mentioned this. It'll probably be like the funding for Taylor Farm Park. "Yes, there will be a phase two to include the aquatic center and additional tennis courts." Yea right....

I can't see how the new roadway will be any quicker coming up south from Hwy 92 the way the Hiram Sudie light gets backed up every morning.

  6. Seems to me a lot of the problems on Nebo Rd. are the dropoffs (shoulders)... They are way to steep...

Seems like all the accidents lately are people going off the side of the road and overcorrecting... I'm in the process of teaching my 16 year old how to drive and I will purposefully have her go off the side of the road to get a feel for it...

  7. Anybody know if the Carrolton office is A LOT less crowded than the Marietta (County Line Rd.) office...?

I'm taking my daughter to get her learners and didn't know if I needed to plan on it being an all day affair or 1 or 2 hours...

Any help/suggestions/past stories would be helpful...!

    Thanks in advance,

    FW
