  1. We went trough the same thing with my Mother. Her Mother also had dementia and lived with us for a while when I was in high school. Stressful on all parties. Thank goodness when my Mom had advance dementia we were able to put her in assisted living. She lived in another state so I traveled every third weekend (3 children) and it was depressing seeing her in that condition and not the vibrate person I remember. My elder brother is showing signs. It doesn't happen to all members of the family. There is a place on MacLand Rd that is a day care for elderly. They might know someone who can help. Bless you and we will keep you in our prayers.

  2. I couldn't answer the poll because we haven't filed yet and don't know if we'll be getting money back or not.

You're pushing the envelope. Better file for an extension. You can do it electronically. If you get an extension you may have to pay interest on what you owe. Bad thing is if you get money back you won't get interest on what is due back.

Getting money back is not what they owe you its where you payed them too much. They used your moeny and you get no interest.

I do my taxes early so I can get MY money back quickly. If I find I owe I wait until the last minute to pay. Let what I owe sit in the bank drawing interest.

  3. I have a used Hotpoint we replaced two years ago because my wife just HAD to remodel the kitchen. Bought it new in '97 and worked good when I took it out. Needs supply line attachment (can get off your old one) and new front. You can have it for $50 cash. I replaced the motor bushing in 2000. Fronts can be bought from Lowe's. PM me if interested.

  4. We got a lot of shingles blown off. New roof coming. A neighbor had part of his chimney torn off. Vinyl siding. Several homes in subdivision have trees knocked down. This is down Old Cartesville Rd about four miles from New Hope. Lost power for over an hour.

Ant p.commers hurt? Hope not. Any tress on houses or other damage we could help Pcommers fix?

  5. just go in and reset your settings on it..

I accidently checked a box one time and my printer was printing in mirror prints..

but there is a box that you can check on how it prints..

it should be somewhere were the number of copies are .

Thanks a lot. I'll dance with you at your next wedding.

  6. Recent warm weather has gotten a lot of people anxious to plant a veggie garden or put out flowers.

Well, coming next week is a low of 34 one day and 32 the next. Guess what's going to happen to your plants unless you cover them.

KILLEDED! (Southern for killed past tense)

I was tempted to plant because I was sick and tired of the cold. I have a few seedlings I have in containers and have put them out in the sun but won't put them in the ground until after Good Friday.

  7. To the victor belong the spoils. There is a big difference in the Revolution and the Civil War. This is a stupid idea and another attempt to legislate bigotry. The Confederacy belongs in history and not modrn celebration any more than the Nazi party should be celebrated.

What an ignorate statement. No wonder you use your name. Did you sleep through school? The war was about states rights and really started escalating in the 1840's when the northern states wanted to control how the south operated. The south got more money from Europe for cotton than from the north so, the north being jealous, starting putting a tariff on cotton being shipped over seas. Also the Constitution at the time had no provisions that did not allow states from secession. Basically it was states right and economics which did cover slavery but slavery wasn't the main reason like they teach in schools today. And it is about part of American history which made this country great (except what Obama is trying to do to destroy it with socialism).

Fly the first Confederate flag to celebrate.

  8. Golf joke:

A lady was dieing and asked her husband when she died would he give his new wife her car. He said no.

The lady asked when she died would he give his new wife her diamonds. He said no.

She then asked when she died would he give his new wife her golf clubs, He said no. She is left handed.

  9. If your wife is your first cousin you may live in Alabama.

If you go 'mudding' on your honeymoon you may live in Alabama.

If your best man holds your beer while you put the ring on your wife's finger you may live in Alabama.

If you taking your wife to lunch is going to Sam's to get free samples you may live in Alabama.............oh, wrong, that's Hiram.

  10. In the words of Joe Pesci "Never order at the drive through. They always F@#$ you at the drive thru"

    Words to live by

This is good advice. Go inside and order. When they start placing items on a tray tell them you decided to make it to go. Drive through orders end up not as good as inside because they don't count on you coming back. Got a drive through order from KFC and when got home items were missing. Called and told manager problem and told how far I was from store. She apologized and gave my name and went in two days later with receipt and got full order for free with no questions. Not as freindly sometimes at Publix in New Hope. I bought my wife flowers (not discounted ones) and when got home to put in vase there was mold and grung on stems. I took them back and showed the young woman at service counter and gave her the receipt. She had the gall questioned if I had purchased them at their store even when she had receipt in her hand (less than an hour from purchase). I demanded to see the manager and she said he was on break. Loudly I demanded to see the manager because of her treatment. Needless to say he apologized but didn't want to make it good by giving me good flowers plus reimbursement for inconvenience. I said don't worry I'll call corporate and they will make it right and what is your name. It obliged but I still called corporate. They offered $10 coupon but I said no just teach employees respect for customers. Someone told me New Hope Publix was a training store is why they have problems. we now go to Seven Hills Publix. Friendly employees.

  11. We live in a small sub-division, only 16 houses. We have 10 pages on covenants and 9 of them pertain to water skiing on the lake. The Covenants do not state that we can not have a fence. One person started the whole it won't be harmonious thing, she was reading from the covenants and I did not have my copy. What she was reading pertained to buildings only. So after she started arguing that some of the other homeowners agreed with her. Of course the most of the ones who voted against us , don't like us because of the breed of our dog. Thats a whole other story. Now keep in mind we submitted our plans for a black Iron fence back in November. If they are going to default back to #9, where it talks about building harmony, then shouldn't the whole approval within 45 days apply? That would mean that we were approved because they didn't respond within the 45 days right? Here is the only thing in the covenants that pertain to fences:

    fencecov.jpg

#9 pertains to buildings so you can't use the 45 day claim. That probably was done for new home construction. #10 which states fences applies to your request. It does say your request must be signed and APPROVED before starting construction. As to cahin link or wire fences not allowed in front of lots does not state anything about your fence type. However #10 is the only thing pertaining to your request which states approval BEFORE starting. I suggest just requesting the fence up to the back edge of your home. Otherwise you are out of luck. Sorry.

  12. Do you have architectual guidelines or is it in the covenants? Some HOA have it in both places. Do the requirements state no fences allowed in the front yard or can't go past the back edge of your home. Does it say specifically what type of fence you can put up like stockade or picket? Are there any other homes that have the same thing you want to do? This is the key because if another homeowner already has what you want to do they can't deny your request. If they gave that person permission or waiver they can't deny you. That's discrimination. HOA's love to do this. Remember most HOA Boards have this surperior-than-thou attitude and are like little dictators. One other question is are there other homes that are in violation of the existing covenants? If they let others violate the rules you can still claim discrimination.

  13. I moved out at 20 and got married. When I lived with my parents I had a full time job. Paid for all my expenses. I kept up parents cars (wash/oil changes/etc.) and kept up the property. After I moved out they remodeled home - new carpet, expanded and remodeled kitchen. Guess they didn't want to make to comfortable or I wouldn't have left.

Sometimes when kids leave home to make it on their own they sometimes come back.............and bring extra baggage.......spouse and child. It happened to us and it took a year to get them out even after they had work and could afford it.

I thought there was a law it Georgia that at age 18 you had to leave home, get a job, get married and have children...........but not necessarily in that order.

  14. And Norton doesn't?

Norton is a resource pig a big fat one at that and then they tag the anti spam app on top of it.

AVG is pretty good and decent on the system memory etc.

I have Norton now and when I try to open an attachment on email it won't allow it. haven't figured how to over ride yet.

  15. Ok, last night we discovered where our male cat has been going to the bathroom when he is pissed at us. This must have started back in the Summer when my husband left for California. Anywho, my male cat apparently loves to pee on our couch. It is all dried but smells to high heaven. Does anyone have a solution to get it all cleaned up and get rid of the smell/marker so he hopefully won't do it again. Ordinarily, I would buy a new couch, but we have no room in the apartment.

    1. get rid of the cat

    2. take couch to dump. you can't get the smell out.

    3. buy another couch

  16. If there is a rule against it in the regulations of that neighborhood, then he should have to abide by it.

You can't try to change the rules just because it has an American flag on top of it.

IMO, that's just a person saying "I dare you to tell me to take it down".

True but the LAW over rides rules of HOA just like the satellite dish law.

  17. You have to remember that some of the leaders of HOA's have a superiority complex and want to dictate to the homeowners. They usually suffer from disorder because they never got attention so they use the HOA as their power trip. Our HOA president had a political sign in his yard and after his candidate lost the primary he put out a notice that political signs were forbidden. Same is true of chairpersons of committees like architectual control. Another power trip of the HOA president was running meetings, as he said in a news letter, strickly by Roberts Rule of Law. EXCEPT nominations for office must be submitted before the meeting and no nominatiosn from the floor. Also, submit request to speak and subject before the meeting and no new business from the floor. POWER COMPLEX. I am looking for a home out of a subdivision or is that snubdivision.
