Here is an update recognizing the assertions that the raid didn't have anything to do with trump but the folks at palmerreport.com call bs on that statement. Again, we'll find out soon enough. pubby

A pundit on MSNBC just brought up this raid and said that it has nothing to do with the Trump investigation. It may not. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. What I did see is that these folks do what is called as tele-town halls for fund raising. The most obvious scam for money laundering is that with telephone collection of campaign funds collection can be made in a way. Whether or not it involved Trump is secondary to the fact that it most assuredly did involve the GOP - this is a GOP direct mail and fund raising group. pubby

When you have a campaign finance system that is allowed to keep the source of funds 'secret' and/or 'anonymous' ... those players who have copious amounts of cash in need of laundering that they wish to use to buy influence find the use of such entities particularly interesting. There is a Russia-Trump grand jury in operation out of the Manhatten district and it has reported to have issued warrants ... presumably including search warrants - in their RICO investigation of the campaign. I suspect that evidence of money laundering is at the core of this part of the investigation. Consi

This is the NYTimes live video feed, via youtube, of today's hearing on all the threats that the nation faces. It is a broad-based discussion involving Korea (both N & S), Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, Syria, cyber warfare, etc. FYI: while the live stream is going, you can return to the beginning of the stream and view it from any point from up to over an hour ago to 'live' ... pubby

You are technically correct ... there is only circumstantial evidence of collusion at this point and it is pretty overwhelming to anyone who removes their rose colored glasses. With so much circumstantial evidence and most likely thousands (or millions if you're counting dollars or tweets) of promising leads, the task of sorting it all out and condensing it to a clear picture is a task. It takes work to do that. Fortunately, in an effort to conduct that work, the Trump Administration has made our job easy by seeking to obstruct the wheels of justice by firing three key persons in the

The worst thing? Trump, who has been involved in money laundering investigations, was a confident and friend of mobsters in NY, has done a great deal of business with people with ties to the Russian mafia will be the guy naming the director of the FBI for the next ten years - a full two years longer than he is constitutionally allowed to hold office (and probably a few more beyond that.) This is nuts. pubby

Pulling the blinds on who sees/communicates with Donald Trump - they've removed the public contacts the president has - last month may have had a purpose. Saw this article in politico that goes on about the reasoning and also shock behind Comey's firing but ends with this rather odd set of events that may provide a little light. Despite the Trump tweet denying contact with Stone - there is no public record of any contacts of the President since early April - Jim Palmer seems free to opine the worst: pubby

Confusion reigns Jamie ... and having been a reporter I can tell you it is not at all strange for that to happen. For instance, you do know that OJ said he didn't kill his ex-wife and was consistent in that story even after he lost the civil case to her parents. I will add that spokespeople are rarely, if ever, witnesses to the actual events. They earn their stripes by the loyalty they give to their bosses as well as the quality of their performances. I'll even concede they are not lying for the statements they utter are what they've been told. Just know that all that they know is

Comey was not a popular guy. That said, he was not considered to be in anyone's pocket and his independence is something that most folks, hoping for an independent voice to lead the investigation, was better than any one that Trump would appoint. Considering that the timing of the firing seemed to coincide with a request for more money to expand the Trump-Russia investigation, the choice to fire him raises serious questions. Indeed, the knowledge in the executive branch that there was an ongoing internal review of Dir. Comey regarding his handling of the Clinton Email affair and that rev

They are all politicians and politics is very much about power and money. Given there is real concern that an autocratic inhabitant of the white house is a threat to our constitutional system of government, it is in no way a waste of time to express opinions on this topic... it is our duty. pubby

Who knows whom he might fire next. It is obvious his purpose is control and he wants to populate his administration with lackeys. One comment on CNN, which reported the existence of grand jury investigations in the Trump-Russian case today - this has been known for a couple of weeks but not widely reported by the corporate media largely because the FBI is doing a great job keeping it quiet and the corporate media is playing along - was that the noose is tightening. If you're interested in what an enterprising reporter has pieced together and put into a relatively coherent whole this PD

OK slashed taxes and now has budget crunch
gpatt0n replied to stercus tauri's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Actually earning money really is the issue. Folks that 'work' for a living are saddled with higher taxes than those who collect rents and tolls and benefit from loopholes in financial deals/investments. I.e. people who generally aren't considered to be expending any more energy in getting the funds they collect than sitting on their butts, often in the middle of the road, slowing those who actually do work down to pay the tolls. In a sense, I'd say there is 'more work' - physical exertion - performed by the average welfare recipient in getting their money than there is from the person liv -

I didn't mean to offend. I think that Trump likes the gays more than he likes the Muslims and he likes white gays and white Muslim's more than black gays and black Muslims and Mexican's of all kinds fall somewhere in between. I think you'd agree though that Trump is not much of a "uniter" ... but does a pretty good job of dividing, slicing and dicing. Actually it was a felony, as affirmed by the supreme court, until about 2003 - 15 years ago (not 40). In fact the case affirming sodomy as a crime was a Georgia case that was before the SCOTUS in 1987 as it was a topic of discussion in

"Kill the Queers" religiousity, has at its core, forgiving killers; which is the logical fallacy of the entire position. Still, despite its faulty logic, it is largely behind the right-wing's acceptance and even idolization of Vladimir Putin and his oft murderous ways. The New Testament teaches, at is most simplified, to love God, love one another and just do it. Killing is generally not part of that process. One part of our whole social disconnect is rooted in the fact that waving the flag of LGBT rights is like a red cape to a bunch of raging bulls. The raging bulls don't recog

SBRA: I don't think there would be any particular problem with leaving your property to a particular animal shelter/trust other than they may not be ready, able or interested in managing your property. It may be wiser to leave the property in a trust designed to benefit the animal shelter. The idea of the trust is you set up the trust with an executor and a way to define successors in that position as long as needed. The executor could either sell or even rent your property with the sale proceeds or even rental income going to the benefit of the shelter. If the shelter/anima
