  1. Kingswood estates was one of the first really large scale subdivisions in the county developed by someone not 'from Paulding.' A fellow who had been successful in Cobb came over the Paulding back in the early 1990's and they negotiated things like the water tower out of the developer. Today, because that development did not involve any 'rezoning' - everything in the county was and had been R-2 - it would have simply had to meet specific engineering benchmarks and would have been given automatic approval ... but back then, the idea of an 'outsider' coming in to build meant they ha
  2. First, there has to be a pretty serious suspicion to compel a person to appear in a line up. I would suggest that if they were wearing a berka at the time the crime was committed, it would be pretty stupid to try to identify them dressed in jailhouse orange. Similarly, no court would recognize a right to religious dress if the demand was based on such a exigency. I.e. if they were dressed in a berka at the time of the crime, the lineup would require them to be dressed in a berka. Indeed, the determination of whether a person shed their berka for the explicit reason of committ
  3. This has been a project of the county since David Austin came into office. They had a rather large get together at the Chamber offices back in March, if memory serves. I think I had covered it in the news a couple of times. I do know that the original proposal from GT was a bit more expensive ... and I suspect, as we go through time, there may be more expense on this project. Regardless, the county needs to engage some to the top folks in the state to generate interest in businesses locating here. The reason is that suburban sprawl with long vehicular commutes like we've e
  4. There is another topic that discusses some alternate times for the PCOMFUN bingo games. Click here to vote: http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=217533 I'm simply interested if those here would be interested in getting an online delivery of their bingo cards in exchange for a mayberry. FYI: We plan to distribute a new set of game cards at the Paulding County Rodeo and the cards we have now are good until then. pubby PS: I've got nine PCOMFUN bingo cards that I can email folks.
  5. Great poll JMD. I'm going to add one thing to it and start another topic with another related poll. thanks for starting it. pubby
  6. Yep, accuracy, LR. I actually signed up Miss Ninja ... (aka: faraday) ... but figure this might put some context to the newest name. pubby

  8. This is not affiliated with the Engage Atlanta event but it is worthwhile none-the-less. The First United Methodist Church is taking donations of food for all the free food pantries in Paulding at Texas Roadhouse in Hiram Saturday from morning till about 1 p.m. We know that the free food pantries are always in need; particularly as we go through this recession. Anyway, good work and good luck on the community makeover projects and we'll be out there at Sam's Sunday evening as well ... so smile. pubby
  9. More that the folks here will be watching including He who grants the prayers we ask. pubby
  10. Will people be walking through or driving through? Are we supposed to integrate the 'scare-station' into the junkyard theme? How dangerous is it on the grounds... If we really scare someone and they bolt (the thing that I'm considering would be capable of this.) are they likely to get hurt because ... well junk yards are relatively dangerous places. pubby
  11. Look for the karaoke get togethers at MacFarlanes in Hiram would be a good idea. If you can play bingo at 2 on Wednesdays you might win a $10 gift certificate at MacFarlanes to boot. pubby
  12. I'd call around to a couple of dealerships in places like Carrolton, Columbus, and even Athens and ask to speak to the title clerk ... and do your own survey. Alternately, I would figure the costs of employment, including travel and if necessary, day care, ... a portion of the household expense, a bit for saving - the cost of existence if you will and come up with the hourly rate that you would work for and be happy to come to work if you didn't get a raise for a year. i.e. also determine the amount that if offered that, you'd smile, stand up and walk out. Average the two figures and
  13. why you want to rag on us ... We're trying to determine if we can make that kind of committment ... paid or free. FYI, do we have access to juice ... electricity? pubby
  14. True... and the results speak for themselves. Of those send from Atlanta 'back home' where they have relatives and support, 85% are living independently and successfully six months after they were 'sent home' with assistance. Doing that is obviously less expensive on the taxpayer than putting them up in a shelter. pubby
  15. publish the number and ask your friends to call them back and tell them not to call (need at least your first name). If they are inundated with 3 dozen calls every time they call, they may get the message ... which is that they can make more money bugging someone else. pubby
  16. http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=217298 IS WHERE WE ARE KEEPING TRACK OF THE NUMBERS. PUBBY
  17. Hopefully yes... Yes, we hope to list the numbers but the folks viewing the show will have at least a minute or two 'advantage' ... i.e. those watching will see the numbers before they are posted on the site. We want folks to watch! I'm going to do something else. I'm going to create 10 card sets in PDF format for distribution via email. Send me a PM and I'll try to get them out by 2 p.m. One card set to a customer. pubby
  18. [flash=720,203]http://www.paulding.com/ads/pcomfunonpcomtv44.swf This time the CLICK WORKS We hope to do two games ... faster calls ... use the cards you've got or stop by the office from 11-2 to pickup cards ... or get with the PCOM Commerce members who have them on hand. NOTICE: Don't have a card ... I've got 10 that I can send! PM me your email address and we'll send you a pdf with four cards on it. pubby
  19. Where is the location? (Roads ... close to... ) I.e. Apartments are typically in one of the 'cities' - Dallas, Hiram or Braswell ... oh well not Braswell I just don't know where those apartments are. pubby
  20. I promise that we'll move the topic (or the photos) if they're too racy to the tonk. Oh, and if one of the mods bullets you for going too far in the cafe, I'll fix that ticket pubby
  21. Not so... just use the ["youtube]5sQhTVz5IjQ[/youtube"] (without the "s) and it works. pubby
  22. Fortunately, Braswell spans Paulding AND POLK counties ... we can say it is a POLK County thing pubby
  23. Weatherboy: It is not suicide. The reality here is that two-thirds of the money spend on health care is spent in the last two to six weeks of life. I.e. if someone is terminal - it is inevitable they are going to die - they are often offered when they are in the hospital, a 'no-code blue' option. That means they don't run in, hit you in the chest in an effort to shock your heart back, hit you with the paddles, turn on a respiration after cutting a hole in your throat to put in the ventilator an buy you another 36 to 240 hours of life ... spent probably in a comatose state with y
  24. Folks... They've got PCOMFUN CARDS at Pack'nPink and a bunch of other pcom business members ... and we'll be having another edition this Wednesday at 2 p.m. so you've got a couple of days to hunt up some playing cards... 'cause we'll have more prizes including (at least) another gift certificate at the Book Worm, another trip for four kids (2 tics each 1-3 and 4-17) a $25.00 play card at Stars and Strikes ... and some other stuff we'll be coming up with ... so get your playing cards and tune in. pubby
  25. Thanks for the updated info. I thought that Richard Fennell was still Mayor. I didn't know that Marla was acting Mayor or that there had been a change at City Hall. I know that the TV station will put them in the spotlight. pubby
