  1. The rise in the ppm of co2 from roughly 270 ppm to now just over 400 ppm is the proof along with its rise being not just coincidental to but the result of burning coal and oil which had lay untouched buried in the earth's crust for millions of years. Since no other creature on the fact of the earth has the capacity to use and control fire and combustion nor have used such abilities to create an industrial machine, that is pretty much self-evident. But hey, you and I both know I lost you when I suggested the earth was older than 6,000 years. I mean, what is the point, fossils, facts
  2. We'll see if anyone else contracted the disease before we do anything but say that God answered his prayer to see his son one more time before his death. pubby
  3. A bit of caution... because 12wmaz.com's servers are being hit pretty hard right now, it may take as long as a minute for the video to appear. I'm sure it will improve as time goes on. pubby
  4. Here are the segments in order from 13wmaz.com who put the debate up on line in segments. Because they are all set to 'autostart' and obviously no one wants to deal with that, I've put each of the videos behind a 'spoiler.' The video is in five roughly 12-minute segments. 5. What the climate change deniers fail to understand is that the value of oil as a commodity is and ought to decline. I know that suggesting that climate change is real and a present danger and that mankind ought to be much more careful in consuming the world's remaining oil, coal and gas deposits and instead move to adopt alternative energy sources with something more engaged than the all deliberate speed that accompanied school desegregation, is not popular. The fact is not popular and those who profit most from the extraction of the commodity from the ground have spent billions confusing
  6. You could also rub your eyes or you could bite your fingernail to the quick, get a paper cut or pop a zit. Any seemingly innocuous thing that people do habitually and without thinking that involves putting things in their mouth, nose, ear, or involves a cut or scratch can defeat the skin's ability to repel the virus. Taking off the protective gown or the head covering could transfer it to your fingers. Helping someone else do those tasks could as well. Washing your hands for ten seconds, not a full minute or two, could do it. The virus will survive on a doorknob for an hour or so allow
  7. I did say that would be a great way for it to be transferred. I think the doctor who survived it (treated in Atlanta) also said that he felt safer in the ward in Liberia than he did in the ER because proper procedures were not in place when it is virulent in the community and someone sick just shows up. The use of the term nun instead of nurse was based in part on the fact the person being treated was a priest and it was a Catholic Hospital in Spain. The infected woman was a nurse. The protocols for avoiding infection have a great deal to do with following them precisely. I made a c

  9. I watched your video link on self-defense too. I kind of liked it but I can't bring myself to post in that topic, not because of the content, but because the video is without controls for volume, rewind or ... considering in those kinds of things ... even an expression of the length. It would be a great post beyond that if were a youtube version. pubby
  10. Oh, okay ... I was speaking euphemistically or maybe even more precisely, sarcastically ... anyway I love it when you take things so literally. However, from your reaction, I still don't feel I should assume you voted for against Bush in 2000 and 2004 because of the campaign tactics of Rove Oh well. pubby
  11. I appreciate you saying that Sat. You do know I put a call into you yesterday. Can you return it??? pubby
  12. They may even more stable and reasonable than Pakistan as we go forward. Not a guarantee but certainly not within the realm of possibility. pubby PS: You do know Ron Paul and possibly Rand Paul have suggested that it is none of our business.
  13. That's true, the polio infection that laid FDR low at age 39, came from a group of boy scouts on a campout. pubby
  14. Interesting little video that asks questions, which the hosts try to answer, from foreigners about why Americans are the way they are. Topics include guns, cars, use/interest in foreign language, etc. You might be surprised how these liberal young people answer. pubby
  15. So you reacted to it differently then than you do now? Is that what you are saying? I just assumed you were consistent over the time ... my bad pubby
  16. And I'm sure you and I reacted to it differently then as well. pubby
  17. Stradial: People are capable of learning quickly, as you exemplify (and personify) cultures no so quickly. pubby
  18. Absolutely but in all things, it is a matter of degrees. Actually, we came just as close, although without as much public drama, in 1983 when Reagan was beating the evil empire drum and scheduling 'war games' that seemed very, very provocative to the Soviets. here is the first part of the story: The Western maneuvers that autumn, called Autumn Forge, were depicted by the Pentagon as simply a large military exercise. But its scope was hardly routine, as Americans learned in detail this week, for the first time, from declassified documents published by the National Security Archive,
  19. The good cops don't care, they know who they are and properly and justifiably proud of their profession and themselves. The second thing to keep in mind is you might not want the help of the bad cops. pubby
  20. I grew up in the time and saw the development of the code words, the innuendo, and reacted to it then just as I react to it now. I simply calls them as a I sees them.
  21. See, that is where we disagree. I think the GOP is in the pocket of the military-industrial complex and is doing their bidding by seeking to heat up and engage in perpetual war because it gives their donors big profits. Bottom line, I think that policy is the essence of national insecurity based on the manipulation of fear and distrust and in the end, leads to places none of us wish to go... hence it is not just a bad policy, it is a horribly bad policy. pubby
  22. Actually, I'm not particularly fond of being attacked personally - no one is. It is just not a good idea to personally invoke moderation powers, particularly personal sanctions when you are involved in the discussion. And to be fair, if you're in my position, you don't want to tell a mod what you want done either ... not only will the person moderated resent it, but it shows a lack of respect for the person doing the moderation. They are grown ups, they can make their own judgment. The only problem is that such an arrangement is somewhat inefficient. pubby
  23. I suspect that the Democrat voted for expansion of the debt while the Republican would vote for the sequester which, because it restricts the operations of both the DOD and State Departments, contributed to the challenges we faced in answering the issues. Further the rise of ISIS as a force is largely due to the policy begun during the GWB administration with the de-baathificaion of Iraq's civil service, the siding with the Shia factions and the fact we were there in the first place - all monumental blunders in the case of Iraq. The GOP, with its bomb-em knee jerk reactions with boots
