  1. Having run out of patience, I set out this morning to find me a Greystone Supervisor. Having worked some with these folks I knew that if you ask them the question in their language, your apt to get a better answer. Well I found one. If you are in south Paulding and still without power rejoice, for they have started on the tap lines.

These are the service lines running off the mains. That's the upside. The downside is that damage is harder to spot, spread out and labor intensive. But hey, at least I know they're a mile down the road and headed this way.

  2. I am so screwed. A tree fell across the line AFTER the power went out in the area. They fixed the wider outage and moved on. The automated system doesn't differ between that and a wider outage. That means we'll be down until at least their secondary sweep.

So now there is a pickup (not mine) stuck in the middle of the driveway (don't ask, it may cause me to go murder someone) so that I can't leave, no power in an all electric house, and I've eaten two apples and a hand full of nuts since Thursday.

That murder is sounding better and better.

  3. I'd like to apologize to Greystone. Looked out and discovered that at some recent point the power was back for everyone but me. 2nd tree down took out the power line up the drive. Lucky me.

In the 20 or 30 minutes I was out there trying to see if there was anything to do there had to be at least 6 or 7 trees breaking at the trunk around the house.

  4. Large amount of stuff going on yesterday, in and around the neighborhood around Nebo and the golf course.

About 11 am I look out to see some random guy standing in the backyard talking on a cell phone. Go out and run him off. 11:30 look out the bedroom window and there's a deputy, gun in hand, walking thru the front yard. Figure it's about the random guy but no, he's looking for an entirely different random guy who has apparently run thru my property. Just about noon half of the deputies that had gathered up in the hood take off lights and sirens. I'm thinking this has to be one of the two but apparently it was this mess on Campground which is maybe a mile as the crow flies.

I could do with less excitement.

  5. Confused. Not many store parking lots on Nebo Road and it doesn't look like any of them???

To "stage from" is to meet at a predetermined location for organizational purposes prior to embarkation, just with many fewer words.

The place in the videos is on the nw corner of the I20 - Chapel Hill interchange. Right next to what everybody in D'ville knows is a middle class predominately black neighborhood.

  6. As big as paulding is, they really thought that 56 beds was going to be enough for a hosiptal? and they think that adding 56 more beds will be enough?

sometimes all i can do is shakemyhead at the leaders of this county... and this is one of those times. :nea:

Lord now you've gone and made me defend county leadership.

For once, and I'm talkin' just this once, this ain't them. This is all WellStar. Entirely their decision(s).

  7. Every bit of the back and forth so far seems to assume (on both sides) that what the end result will be is what Blake Swafford says it will be. A couple of commercial flights a week an the rest Areospace R/D and private usage. It ain't.

As earlier pointed out in another thread, most of the secrecy was to get this by three groups, City of Atlanta, Delta Airlines and the electorate that voted against the airport to begin with. Two of those three groups have something in common. They together control the World's Busiest Airport literally right down the road a piece.

There is a great deal of profit and prestige that comes along with that control. Decades of forward thinking and planning have been done by both under the assumption of the current airport being the only game in town. Look back at the statements made by Mayor Reed and the Delta CEO right after the news of the deal broke. When is the last time you remember the CEO of a global corporation making that negative of an open threat against a potential competitor? Much less a little piss ant airport out in the boonies, not even a competing airline. A politician sure, but a CEO?

Both these folks have seen and recognize the camels nose inside the door of the tent. The tent is here, the camel is here and the nose is here. If the rest of the head comes thru you can stop the debate and start deciding if you like this tent still or would you prefer another.

I figure you have about a decade before Paulding stops being a county with an airport, and the airport ends up being the county. It's not an if, it's a when.

  8. I saw the pictures of all your biker friends on facebook. Looks like ya'll are going to turn into just another biker bar with beer and wings. :(

Hope it works for ya and I am sure they bring in some money but once there it is a point of no return and not what PC needs - another biker joint. Just a thought to ponder.

Let's see. I pay my taxes, so that can't be it. The thought of stealing anything from anyone is foriegn to me, so it wouldn't be that either. I'm kind to children, old folks and animals, don't see how that could be the problem. Every time I've ever seen someone in real trouble I've done my best to help any way I could, probably not the issue here. I've physically defended the honor and safety of complete strangers when they were under the immenent (sic) threat of bodily harm, up to the point of risking my own life, not a reason for demonization. Most of the folks that have been in my life fit that description too, so I'm probably not hanging out with scum, so both they and I wouldn't seem to pose a threat. As a group we really hold only one predjudice, a deep seated aversion to folks whose attitudes and actions would lead one to describe them as sphincters surrounded by a void.

We do own, and enjoy the freedom of, riding a motorcycle. And on occasion we do like to gather together with folks of similar character and interests. Some business folks have recognized that this desire could lead to profits for there establishments if they were to cater to it on a slower night or two during their week. Bet that's the issue!

Oh well. I guess there will always be a segment of society that needs a group or groups of people to look down their noses at. I reckon it's better if that group is me and mine because as a general rule we don't care what that segment thinks of us, reckognizing the fact that since we are generally and independent bunch, it really doesn't affect our lives.

Theres an age old saying that goes "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand." So I won't try any further. The aforementioned segment should know this though, should the occasion arise when they look around and find that they are surrounded by me and mine, be it in a bar, restaraunt, sidewalk or where ever; you're probably safer that anywhere else you could be. Just remember to "Avoid the Void". Oh..........and stop watching so much TV, it's make believe based on the 1%, not the 99.
