  1. The wind created a few power outages in the area; the "bang" may have been a pole mounted utility transformer blowing up.
  2. if you drive around with "Truck nuts" hanging from your vehicle......nice.
  3. This is a "No brainer"; GO!!! Language will not be an obstacle; English is the international language and is taught in te Chinese school system. Shanghai is an international city and you should have no problems. But, as always in any case, use good judgement in your travels within the city.
  4. The argument against the TSA policies is laughable; do not fly if you have a problem walking through the scanner. The last I checked, there is no "Right to Fly". But you do have the right to make a decision to remove yourself from a process in which you are not comfortable. So, take a car, bus or train. Problem solved. PS-I'm on 20-30 planes a year and have no problem with any added security measures.
  5. let me guess; only Greek or Italian Dressing. Imagine that, at a "Greek /Italian" restaurant no less. Great food. Great owners. Great people.
  6. Of course I love my job! I'm paid to give my opinion; good or bad. I work independently, recognized for accomplishment, set my own hours, and my closest manager is in DC. And his manager is in SF. No, I'm not a book critic. Lets just say I work in IT.
  7. To answer the question; No, I do not worry about the gas/oil lines running underground. Nor do I worry about the planes overhead.
  8. Fanaticism, religious or otherwise, scares the crap out of me.
  9. We were down all last week. The only place we saw anything was on the news. Beutiful clear skies and clear water.
  10. Valid poll or not; the current SPLOST tax needs to stay. Short of throwing people out of the county, we have to keep up with the population growth we have seen over the last 25 years, and that requires taxes; in one form or another. I'd rather have a SPLOST tax thats spread fairly across the population, than a tax that only impacts home/property owners. Hell, I wish it was like it was in the late 70's; only one redlight in the county and no 4 lane. But youd have to be a damn fool to think that would work today.

    SPLOST

I'll vote "yes" for the SPLOST.Its a great way to "spread" the tax burden among the local population (Home Owners, Renters, 15 People living in one house, etc) and those from out of county.(although I doubt few from outside the county ever say "Hey, lets go to Hiram and Shop!)
  12. Much ado about nothing.....
  13. I'll be cremated; if I go before my wife, Ive asked her to mix my ashes in a gallon of paint and put it on the bedroom ceiling. I want to keep an eye on her.
  14. These tests/certifications have been around for decades. I've taken two in my lifetime. Lockheed and the electrical apprentice program, both administered by the state. I thought both were fairly easy, but you would be amazed at how "non mechanical" some folks are. I was shocked that people actually fail this thing.
