I wonder if this is the same plane that we saw in Carrollton as we were leaving the band competition. I told my hubby that it looked like it was flying awfully low.
I remember seeing quite a few of them at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, and over Carrolton could be the flight path of one travelling from south Texas to Dobbins.

LOL all of the guys at my duty station(ROTA) loved going to Athens $$$$$$
I probably would have stayed in if I could have been stationed there!

I said no, but in the NFL on "any given Sunday", an upset can occur.

Lockheed was actually doing a C-141 mod program back in the eighties(because the smiley pops up on eights!!!). I am sure they are still flying them in and out of Dobbins for certain repair work.
Where are they flying out of now? I thought the C-17 replaced (and enhanced) the capabilities of the C-141.
-
The C-5 has a very distinctive whining/roaring sound to it. Lots of people often mistake the C141 for the C-5. It is almost an identical "mini C-5".
I worked on the C-5 program in the 80's. Front fuselage.
Isn't the Starlifter retired? I could be wrong (experience with C-17 and C-130), but it sounded like a C-5 and its tail structure (didn't have my glasses on, but I saw the tail lights) seemed to be a C-5.
I was never lucky enough to break down in Spain or other places with high per diem. Those pilots...
-
I think that was a C-5 that just flew over...very low (Hiram, Waters cross-street Nebo). Definitely flying lower than most military aircraft...

Authorities arrested Alabama head coach Nick Saban in the predawn
hours Monday at his home in Tuscaloosa on animal cruelty charges.
Saban, 56, was charged with 85 counts of animal cruelty in an alleged attack which occurred
Saturday night in Athens, Georgia. Police said that as many as
92,138 witnesses saw Saban and a large group of violent young men under his control hit, kick,
crush and destroy a large pack of mostly-docile bulldogs. One officer was quoted
as saying, "I haven't seen bulldogs treated this badly since the Michael Vick case."

One of the funniest things I've seen on here. My wife hates football, and even she found that hilarious.

Wife just answered...she got her diploma for her BS in Psychology last week. I'm very proud of her!

It would be interesting to know how many Democrats and how many Republicans each of these cities have sitting on the City Council since they are the "Congress" of city politics.
Thats a fair point. I'd still imagine the Democrats to have the upper hand in total numbers, but the cities receive much of their funds from the state level, really making the mayor about as important as a local congressman.
I doubt most people can name 5 mayors of large cities off the top of their heads. Heck, I'm a political science geek, and I can only think of Villaragosa (LA), Newsome (SF), Nagin (New Orleans), Nickels (Seattle), Bloomberg (NY), Franklin (ATL), and that former idiot mayor of Detriot (Kwame something). Everyone else are really just minor political figures who don't mean nearly as much as the state governors, senators, and congressmen.

Maybe Coach Richt should have been putting more time into keeping his players out of trouble, recruiting players who don't have histories of getting into trouble, and developing a better gameplan instead of becoming a corporate shill. I sincerely hope he is donating the proceeds to the school, as he wears his public institution clothes on TV. Is he the highest paid public employee in the state?
-
I wasn't going to put my two pennies in, but while that list does point out an interesting tie to the poor and disadvantaged with the Democratic mayors, here are a few caveats:
1) The general consensus of mayors is that they have ultimate power within a city. This isn't entirely true, as there are different types of interactions a mayor can have with the city council, often limiting the mayor to the amount of power they might actually wield. The strong mayor - council version is on the way out, in favor of the city council - manager form. The mayor is often times just a mouthpiece for a city, an ambassador to the state congress in an effort for more funds.
2) Some of those states listed have had very strong Republican governors over the past few decades, including the Bush brothers (Texas and Florida), and Rockefeller, Pataki, and Spitzer (NY).
3) Urban cities usually lean towards the Democratic candidates.
4) Cities with large immigrant populations lean towards Democratic candidates (Miami, El Paso).
5) Some of the cities on the list are "rust-belt" cities; cities damaged heavily by the "rust" of the steel belt.

What will "they" complain about next? Looks like the Democratic Congress isn't worried about retirees.
.
I'm confused. The Democratic Congress prevented the President's and DOD's plan to raise medical premiums for retirees. If everyone's premiums have gone up (mine went up 26% this year), it seems that by blocking an increase in medical premiums, Congress acted in the best interest for retirees by keeping costs, at least temporarily, stable.
Also, the House approved a pay increase of a half percent more than President Bush's plan.
What am I missing?

Well, hey, when all else fails, blame the government! Don't blame the people around you who all freaked out and went and bought gas in a panic, creating the shortage. Don't blame all the folks who got loans on homes they really couldn't afford, creating the giant mortgage debt.
Or blame the banks who ignored standard and intelligent financial principles and GAVE the loans out.
We are all to blame.

In rememberance of Airman First Class Liz Jacobson, who died 3 years ago today along with Army Sergeant Steve Morin when her Humvee hit an IED in South Iraq.
Great airman, great outlook on life, great person. Liz, the world isn't as bright without you, but we are all better for being a part of your life and legacy. Rest in peace.

......and that's why I stayed in. It's safer and you know where it's coming from
Exactly. Why didn't you tell me this before I left???

USAF, 1 tour active duty with 1 trip to the sandbox. Brother in USAF (deployed once, going again), brother in law USMC (not deployed in 12 years...WTH???).
Trying to go back. I miss the military very, very, much. I do not like being a civilian. The civilian world is much more dangerous .

Great tip! Just came back from there with full tank. Short line, only a 5 minute wait (if that!). $3.97 a gallon for regular. Better than the chaos and $4.19 at the Shell on 120/92.

The word "whuppin" comes to mind...

Must be done. You can't have a insurance giant like that to fail. It would affect all economies worldwide as it has over a trillion dollars in assets. Much like oil, much of our mutual funds have AIG tied to it one way or another, so we are all taking a hit.
I would love to see those C level employees of AIG dragged around town behind their Bentleys and Rolls for this financial mismanagement.

I can't think of anything to say that wouldn't get me permanently booted from this board...

Or maybe it means all the crazys or Democrats!
These "riots" have nothing to do with the democratic party. Zip, zero, zilch. These "protestors" are simply animals and need to return to the scum from where they came. They have no interest in solving our nations issues with diplomacy, rather, they want to destroy all our nation has worked for.

Knight Rider (although I heard it is coming back), Hardcastle and McCormick, Airwolf and Cheers.
Knight Rider was filmed in my hometown too. Covina was also home to Jason David Frank (the Green Power Ranger). Wait. Can I take back that last one?
-
Where is your hometown?
Covina, California. It [was] kinda like Mayberry, but CA style.

A favorite when I was a kid...M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand). I had all the toys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.A.S.K.
Love Quantum Leap. It was filmed in my hometown!

Agreed. I was expecting A LOT MORE...the Hiram Days are much, much better. There wasn't enough "to taste" and I was disappointed by the lack of small business participation. Downtown Dallas can be a great venue for events like this, and it was such a nice day. Maybe include a chili cook-off, or a pie eating competition. SOMETHING!
