Since we have all seen our proposed tax bills we will see an increase of $29 on a $100K home. Yes, I think I started out at around $200 for the fire tax portion of my tax bill and it is down to around $125. I am not complaining about the "increase." I support funding and fully developing the fire department. I don't really approve of where the new station would be - to serve the airport area. Would rather see more improvements where we all live.

funding fire fire department has fallen with falling property values. This is a move to bump back up fire department budget and to allow them to expand services and personnel. The 2008 funding levels brought them 8.6 million and the current millage rate would generate only 6.2million. The increase brings the department budget back to 8.6 million and allows them to continue improvements to service which lead to lower ISO ratings (which mean lower home owner's insurance rates).

I was wondering about this one last night - 6% state tax plus %8 sales tax. In TN most areas are 9.75% sales tax. They still make it and have roads, etc.

Don't know if this one has made the rounds yet or not. Looks like Austin and Ragsdale (is he up for re-election?) only wanted to raise it 10%. Don't really follow this quote. If current millage is 2 and "“The chairman [Austin] did propose doing a rollback of 2.2 mills, but I (tax'em Graham) propose that we increase that millage rate to 3.1 mills” wouldn't Austin be proposing a 10% (.2 mills) as opposed to a "rollback?" This increase gets us back to funding at 2008 levels and an average $200,000 home (are there any left in Paulding?) would see an increase of $57. We'll see a new fire

I think you need to first take your beef with the elected officials that don't work hard enough for Paulding. Heath doesn't care about us. Braddock seems to be clueless and Maxwell is just a good ole guy that I don't think has done anything since being elected.

I took it as 10 million for our region, should it pass. 1-2% of the state wide funds would be more than 10 million - and you would then have "our" funds going outside of the region which is a "pro" for the region tax.

Another observation. Laurie points out that it would be good to have good roads to bring people into the county to purchase homes that are at a lower price. Longer commutes may offset that "value" that a prospective resident may see. I thought the goal of the BOC was to bring business into the county so we grow away from being a bedroom community? Do we want to be a more efficient bedroom community or bring industry to us? Or both? $10 million for oversight - whose brother-in-law will that be?

As I was searching for the house bill details on this one I got googled to one of the sites support it. At the bottom I saw that it was paid for by Yancy Brothers.... Hummmmm, don't they sell a lot of heavy equipment? Like the stuff used for building roads?

My bet will be a bad capacitor ($25 or so) on the outside unit. Pull the power to the outside unit and the remove the cover. You'll find a large capacitor - looks like a large battery - probably 6-8 inches long by 3-4 inches wide with wires attached at the top. If it looks like it has oil residue or appears puffed up, then it is bad. They will usually fail in the heat. You may just want to have a service call and have the unit checked out if it has not been serviced in a while. double the projected "gas tax only" from .29 to .58/gallon. If you are spending less on fuel because you are now getting 100MPG then you realize no increase, right? I work from home - I am not that big of the problem - I drive the DBR freeway a few times a week. I'll vote no.

I am really impressed with Mr. Rosenwald and his generosity. Just think back 100 years ago and how a business man helping "colored folks" may have been ostracized in that society. I am looking forward to taking both my sons to visit this place with the knowledge of what Mr. Rosenwald enabled by being a leader and visionary for many projects. And Booker Washington needs the credit too for asking for the help to start the schools.
