  1. file a complaint with the Marshall's office. There is a form and process. The home is owned by someone and they should keep the property up.
  2. You have to first cut services and then see how that affects headcount. What service do you want to cut first? Remember, as a commissioner, that by cutting services you are going to affect your constituents. Do you do what it takes to balance the budget or say "well, that is what we are left with - the last administration screwed us...." How long will that excuse work? The simple tree farmer either leads and makes tough choices that may affect his vote count in the future or takes the easy road and blames stuff on the other guy. Where is Whitey this time when there is an impe
  3. "can't keep a black man down" I guess cameras are rolling more often when a white officer is dealing with a black man with attitude (ala Rodney King)
  4. value may not have representative of the market over the past years. You just have to look at the area and see what similar houses are selling for. If you are in the ball park, then you are paying your fair share. If much lower, then keep your mouth shut. If much higher, then appeal using the appeals process.
  5. I think they are just doing properties that are on their list. I did not call anyone. The taxed assessed value will go down, but my guess is that the $ amount of taxes that I pay will stay just about the same or go up depending on what millage rate is set at by the BoC and BoE over the summer.
  6. the only reason they are doing that is so they won't see a decrease in the tax digest. They make it out like they are doing you a favor, but they are really only trying to protect their revenues.
  7. Last week, the assesor stopped by to look over the property. He made one correction. Got the updated assessment today showing a 5% decrease in value.
  8. I think the "in charge" EMS guy caused the problem from the beginning. Jumping out of the vehicle put the officer on the defensive. Had he kept his place, the officer probably would have just ran his mouth at the driver and been on his way. Simple "yes, sir" and "no, sir" would have diffused the situation. The problem is that this doesn't follow with the "can't keep a black man down" attitude displayed by the EMS "in charge" guy. This resulted in a "conquest of wills" and all parties looking like asses.
  9. for your reading pleasure: http://www.municode.com/Resources/gateway....1409&sid=10 see section 46-61 and following
  10. the car heard the RLS behind and pulled over (yielded to the trooper), as required by state law. The EMS unit should have done the same (by pulling over behind the car) and there would be no problem. The EMS unit takes too long to pull over and apparently shows the trooper what they think of him by delaying their trip (by giving the trooper the bird).
  11. that is an interesting question - if the EMS unit was RLS, then who should have yielded? My guess is the trooper has the faster vehicle, so the EMS unit should have yielded? I guess this is one for TOW.
  12. seems like the EMS unit would have been RLS if the patient was really in dire straights and need of a hospital. It doesn't appear that they are as the trooper comes up behind them. the trooper was on a power kick and the EMS man "in charge" was in a "can't keep a black man down" frame of mind. They both end up looking like asses.
  13. SG, do you know the official statute of limitations regarding blaming other administrations?
  14. If anyone is interested, here is a link to the, once again, unsearchable budget document: http://paulding.gov/files/finance/2010%20C...ed%20Budget.pdf If they want to save $500,000, then drop the cash subsidy of $375,000 and fuel subsidy to the private EMS zone provider.
  15. thankfully, they have the fire tax funds to pull from.
  16. tax and spend? I thought we were working on the simple tree farmer's budget? He can't balance a budget?
  17. I am sure the K-9 officers will appriecate the extra space.
  18. I didn't know that about spring hill. Good old union - all for the workers.
  19. I haven't had the scanner on in months. I drove past the Cartersville airport yesterday and didn't see the Emory Flight chopper at its usual place. Looks like the crew quarters for the flight crew is now a Pheonix air building. Anyone know if EF3 is still in that area?
  20. The Spring Hill plant, I guess, is still state of the art. I wonder how much the sale is for? Can you imagine a Saturn at the Indy 500?
  21. I doubt the Chinese Hummer will make it to the states - too much lead paint.
  22. "...assets of $82.3 billion, and liabilities of $172.8 billion." Do the math. I guess it was long over due - mismanagement strikes again.
  23. I'll stick with my built in America Toyota. I never liked the Mexican or Canadian built "American products."
