  1. To summarize, you do not know what is going to happen at all and find yourself scared by the speculative thoughts running through your mind. Got it. How about waiting to see what happens before screaming that the sky is falling? mrnn
  2. I guess I took you too literally. He should have been more forthright, for sure....I'm not sure which PR idiot in the administration thought that no one would ever notice the fact that some people would lose their insurance but I can only hope he was fired. While the number of people impacted is small, they still count as part of "everyone". mrnn I'm not sure we're speaking to the same thing here...are you saying that 7000 people you work with are being pushed to the exchanges or are you saying that your premiums are going up because your insurance was crap to begin wi
  3. It doesn't? He used the wrong language...the wrong words. mrnn
  4. They don't carry policies specific to those items and you know it...they're carrying universal policies that are designed to cover any number of types of care that may be of use to those within the same insurance pool. You using that complaint is akin to a young person buying the same policy and complaining that they're paying for rheumatology coverage. But they don't because most people understand that that's how insurance works. mrnn
  5. Some of this makes no sense to me... Obamacare is "socialist" -- what does that make single-payer that eliminates the capitalistic elements of healthcare? Super-socialist? Obamacare is causing health insurance prices to spike -- This is spoken as if insurance prices have been static for the last 30 years and had not already been increasing at alarming rates. If anything, they're been the most static they've ever been over the last couple years. People are losing coverage! -- Surely I'm not the only person who knew someone still using AOL dial-up service in 2008. Some people ha
  6. Holy hell this crap right here pisses me off soooo badly. When a cop rides my ass so closely that I can't even see his headlights in my rearview, I want to brake-check the living hell out of him and say there was a squirrel in the road or something. I'd never have the balls to actually do it, but I think about it every time they do that crap. I would be ticketed in a heartbeat if a cop saw me following someone that closely. It's extremely unsafe and yet they often do it. If I brake-checked effectively enough, I'd love him to have to explain to his supervisor why he rear-ended someone in a
  7. Here's an article about what they wanted to do in Gwinnett....assume it's something similar to Paulding. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/airline-flights-from-gwinnett-firm-makes-a-pitch/nQZz3/ mrnn
  8. What in the hell does "Obummer" have to do with local roadblocks conducted by local police who do so under protection from state law? Exactly. As far as the roadblocks, I agree...they're crap and need to be outlawed. Same with dangerous speed traps. mrnn
  9. Thanks for sharing your thoughts...they make sense. I'm a Chicago boy...O'Hare Field is huge. There's a second airport called Midway that is much smaller but still serves quite a bit of domestic commercial service...it's the SWA airport in Chicago, in fact. In that sense, and seeing how well having two airports has worked out for Chicago, your fears are certainly not unfounded that Atlanta could benefit from a similar setup. With that said, I think there's one huge difference and that is geographical location....Midway is still damn close to the city and a great location for folks livin
  10. They did that after the deal was closed, right? I'm not disagreeing with you at all, Stradial, just seems that has actually happened. The impression I'm getting from many posters is that they feel the negotiations themselves should have been out in the open...if our county leadership felt that was not prudent then, to a degree, we need to trust that their tact was appropriate, imo. If they really thought this was a sweetheart of a deal and felt that making it public would jeopardize it (perhaps cause other airports to lobby for the same) then it was absolutely well within their (and ou
  11. But how did you phrase it, Whitey? I respect you greatly when it comes to the local politics but I disagree with you on this one. Sure, you ask people if they want the airport to be commercial, many will say no. That's not a surprise at all. But what if you told them that it should only be a handful of flights a week? What if you told them that this deal will bring airplane and jet mechanic work to our county? What if you mentioned the potential for further industry to settle around the airport as a result with jobs that actually pay more than the retail crap in Hiram? From what
  12. Here's one of them at the 8:00 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj_9s5Iqcsc#t=489 mrnn
  13. He hedged twice on videos that were posted here on PCom...once at the BOC meeting where he confronted the other commissioners and the other at an airport function. mrnn
  14. I'm with you, LPPT....I know we're in the minority, apparently, but this county needs jobs badly...we need an industrial backbone badly...we need a corporate tax base badly. Yet it seems that any and all moves that the BOC makes to lure businesses is immediately poo-pooed by the "natives"...those who yearn for the days of dirt roads to magically return. That's what is so laughable to me about Pownall's reaction. He always clarifies his complaints about being left in the dark by saying he hopes it succeeds. No, you either hope it succeeds or you don't want it...you can't have it both w
  15. In military and government parlance, they are different levels of security. Confidential>Secret>Top Secret...these are the levels of access awarded to individuals as well as the common markings you'd see on documents. mrnn
  16. Perhaps it's because of my writing, but you've completely missed the point. It's a philosophical argument presented by John Rawls in "The Theory of Justice" which is considered the authoritative philosophical book on liberalism. You have no idea what characteristics will lead to success in this hypothetical society...as I responded to GoGators, it could turn out that it's a bunch of racist Asian people who refuse to purchase anything from, or give a job to, any white person. If not for trying to score political points, the obvious answer is that, yes, you would want to create a society that
  17. I understand that some people wouldn't be happier....I said that I, myself, wouldn't be happier. With that said, as a general statement, it's likely true that more people would find themselves happier than those that would find themselves unhappier. Median income in the US is like $50k for a family of four...unemployment is high....most Americans have little in the way of savings and are living paycheck to paycheck. So yes, you tell much more than half the population that they're getting a "raise" and a steady job, they'd be ecstatic. mrnn
  18. That's unfortunate...you chose wrong. Turns out you live in a country full of radical, highly-educated, rich Asians who hate white people and you spend the rest of your life eating rice out of dumpsters and live in a tent. mrnn
  19. While it'd be dull, it would certainly lead to a greater sense of serenity and happiness amongst the populace. I wouldn't want to live in that world but then our family doesn't struggle to put food on the table or a roof over our heads. Speaking of hypotheticals, here's one for you... You and 100 other people discover a new land and set about creating a form of governance and a way to organize society BUT you know nothing about the education, ethnicity, financial status, health, or industriousness of your peers or your future inhabitants nor are you aware of how those characteri
  20. I heard it was someone who didn't heed Tundra's post about being scared. mrnn
  21. Ya know, things reach a point where it's pointless to even try to talk smack. I've reached that point this afternoon. The SEC East is absolute sheeze this season, as proven by freaking Mizzou walking away with the division. If you need anymore proof how beat up the Dawgs are, just look at today's game. Freaking Vandy, man! Jeez...how embarrassing. Oh well, I guess there's always next season. Good luck to your Mizzou. mrnn
  22. Yes, because lowered demand always equates to higher prices. mrnn
