  1. I shouldn't even reply to this because it really has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand, but black on black racism isn't exactly "a thing". That's called infighting. mrnn
  2. I'm a pretty big NBA fan and I can tell you that Donald Sterling should've lost his team a long, long time ago. He's long been an embarrassment to the league and to the human race. The guy is scum. Former NBA commissioner David Stern was at the helm for 30 years and never did anything to penalize Sterling for being an openly bigoted owner. While current commissioner Adam Silver can't say that the fine and lifetime ban are due to past behavior, he was very open in saying that the vote by the Board of Governers (a group of other owners) to force Sterling to sell will be able to take his hist
  3. Of everyone I saw, he was the one that sounded like a robot with his opening and closing statements. Which is a shame because when he spoke off the cuff on his rebuttals, he did very well and sounded very natural. I don't know much about any of these guys but the guy on the far-right in that portion of the debate, the deacon, came across as very sharp...almost too sharp. You can tell he's had a lot of experience talking in front of crowds. Not that any of that means anything as far as their abilities as a potential commissioner, but impressions do matter. mrnn mrnn
  4. It's all much clearer now....sorry for being an ass. So if you get social security, is that considered income for healthcare subsidies? I'm wondering if taking SS at 62, while a reduced payment, if that income would qualify you for subsidies? If so, there may be a bit of a trade off there that might be worth exploring. If I recall correctly, those subsidies can include reduced deductibles which, from the sounds of it, would be a huge help. When you had the part-time gig, would that have qualified you? mrnn
  5. I absolutely agree, depending on the no-income person's situation. In your case, I think you should be fully or near-fully subsidized. If you guys are on SSDI as your sole income, shouldn't you already be on Medicaid? My mom was on disability due to MS and she was on Medicaid when my dad was unemployed. Is that where your assets come into play? mrnn
  6. Assets don't count...it's income. So go get a part-time job and save yourself some money. http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/16/will-premium-subsidies-be-based-on-personal-assets/ mrnn
  7. Dude! You're ruining my rep! I think it's a pretty safe bet that every one on here thinks I'm a total badass, liberal Chuck Norris type guy and they're all like "holy hell, I better not mess with that mrnn guy on PCom! He's a real badass!" and then you, a dude everyone knows is a great guy, have to get on here and say something very kind about me. Atleast that's the way I picture it in that warped brain of mine. mrnn
  8. I'm a 37yo white, male, professional with a very solid income....I had an EPO plan, which was eliminated by my company, and was instead offered a PPO, at roughly the EPO's price, or a high deductible plan with an HSA that included employer contributions at a much lower price. I went with the High Deductible plan due to our family being generally healthy. We're going to see how this year goes and reevaluate that decision when it's time to enroll for 2015. My premiums, coverage levels, and deductibles would have been virtually identical had I transitioned from the EPO to PPO (I don't even kno
  9. This is all very interesting considering the statistics coming out show that costs have declined and even the CBO has said that plan increases are nominal and well below historical averages. I guess it's just coincidence that all the people against the law (aka President) are those who just happened to have these horror stories that fly in the face of statistical data. mrnn
  10. You can thank that dayum Obummacare for not covering beds any more mrnn
  11. I don't work for Cobb County government so I'm unfamiliar with his coverage....I don't even know that it is a "cadillac" plan, I'm just going by what Dis posted. What you say could very well be true but, again, that's not the fault of Obamacare, that's the fault of Cobb County for lowering coverage....and if they did lower coverage, it's no longer a cadillac plan so the County decided to screw its workers by going to what is apparently a crappy plan (assuming that crutches are covered under decent plans, much less the cadillac plan he claims to have). You haven't been around much over t
  12. I get it. You'd call me princess...and I'm a dude...so it's like you're calling me a woman....or perhaps a young girl....and then you'd totally win the argument using an extremely witty, and original, insult making me forever question my manhood. Phew!...I'm glad you held back and only passive aggressively suggested I'm a princess. Crisis averted. mrnn
  13. I'd considered that, CMorg, but considering he has a "cadillac" plan there should have been no impact caused by the new standards. Those new standards were very, very basic and existed in a large majority of policies that weren't just purchased for catastrophic coverage. I mean if Dis calls BC and they blame Obamacare and give him an explanation of why, then by all means, Dis should blame Obamacare. But to just blame the program because his insurer screwed him over seems unfair. mrnn
  14. The standards made policies designed solely for disaster (i can't think of the right word) coverage meet minimum requirements. I'm not sure why you believe Obamacare would have forced BC to stop covering crutches....that's a decision made solely by your insurer. ETA: "Catastrophic" is the word I couldn't think of....so policies priced cheaply that didn't cover much at all, designed only for catastrophe. mrnn
  15. Sorry you're going through this and hope your daughter heals quickly, Dis. With that said, I'm unclear how this has anything to do with Obamacare? Sounds like you have an issue with your insurer. mrnn
  16. You should stick to whining about local stuff....your comments on national issues expose you. Let's break down your comment. "I give up." -- Most intelligent and informed sentence of your reply. "Mr. Bundy is not an idiot, his words were taken out of text. " -- Did you read his response when he was given the opportunity to clarify his comments? He essentially said the same thing...slavery=better than welfare. The man is an idiot. He's been to federal court twice and lost both times. His cattle now belong to the government. He rides around on his horse with an American flag bu
  17. And that has what to do with anything? He owes the US Government. mrnn
  18. Sure sounds like you've got squatters regularly using the house. Have you tried calling the police when you see either the current guy or some of the other folks? I'm pretty sure they have to respond being you know that it isn't the owner in the house and there's no power....they should respond as if it's a B&E, I'd think? As far as offering to help the guy, I'm with you...I wouldn't feel I owe the potential squatter anything. mrnn
  19. I also understand his point, but strongly disagree. The idea that slavery could be romanticized to the point that it's looked upon as good family time, raising chickens, and learning a trade is just awful. Families were broken up because of slavery, not brought together. Nevermind the rape, murder, whippings, and torture brought upon slaves. That someone could have the audacity to imply that antebellum slavery is in any way, shape, or form similar to today's welfare, ESPECIALLY COMING FROM A GUY WHO HAS MOOCHED OFF THE FEDS HIMSELF FOR 20 YEARS, is something no one but uneducated, racist b
  20. Sounds like a legitimate reason. With that said, I'd be concerned as well. Go ahead and call BofA, give them money order #'s, and ask them to verify they're legit. If they are, you're mind can be at ease. If they aren't, you'll be able to get the police involved that much sooner. mrnn
  21. You've seen my golf game.....it's imperative I can add up A LOT of big numbers quickly. mrnn
  22. I've always been pretty good at math. Ya know those situations that arise from time to time where you have a few people standing around and an addition or subtraction problem comes up involving larger numbers? I'm typically the first one with the answer...in my head, I'm using the common-core process. I started using it before it was cool That doesn't necessarily mean I agree that it should be the first method taught to smaller children but, imo, it is by far the quickest way to come up with answers to questions that you don't have memorized. For instance, I'm at a store and an it
  23. CNN and MSNBC are mainstream? Seriously? They constantly get whooped in the ratings by your "non-mainstream" Fox News. Take a look at the NYT Bestsellers Lists...Krauthammer, Beck, O'Reilly, Kilmeade, etc... How about turning on the radio? All kinds of liberal voices on talk radio, eh? I've got to hand it to you...you play an exceptionally effective pawn. mrnn
  24. Krauthammer must have selective memory. When progressives were labeled as "un-American" by the right for not supporting the Iraq War in 2003, did Charles write an article defending them? When the right labels anyone who voted for this President as a "taker" or "low information voter", does Krauthammer defend the progressives? An atheist points out that schools shouldn't be organizing official prayer because it's blatantly unconstitutional...."He's trying to remove God from 'Murica!!!"..I'm sure Charles busted out his copy of the Constitution to defend the atheist. When Sarah Palin said
