Has scouting made an impact in your life?
Coppertop's Pop replied to Jeanne O'Halleran Law's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was in Boy Scouts and LOVED it. -
Losing the birthday gifts and party is a GREAT idea. If that's what it takes to get his attention, then don't give in... and don't let your wife slip him a surprise when you're not looking. Wives have been known to do that. Sorry for butting in... but sometimes it takes a complete stranger to tell your when your breath stinks ...many times your own best friend won't.

Breaking Bad in Buchanan - HPDTF busts meth distributor

Meth is some dangerous stuff. They need to shoot the drug pushers and send a message! -
Price of chicken feed has already risen sharply
Coppertop's Pop replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
In either case, the President isn't going to eliminate the ethanol mandate anytime soon. Folks might wise up and start preparing now for the rise in food prices, gas price, etc. I suspect it will hit us particularly hard in the winter and next spring. Folks who aren't prepared might find themselves in a financial jam like they haven't ever seen before. -

Here's an article that seems to refute your contentions that the ethanol mandate has caused the spike in corn priices. http://www.farms.com/FarmsPages/ENews/NewsDetails/tabid/189/Default.aspx?NewsID=42674 Ethanol production also helps the livestock industry, Schott noted, because when corn is converted to ethanol only the starch is used. Distillers grains is a valuable coproduct that retains all the non-starch food and feed value of the corn used for ethanol. it provides all of the protein, minerals, nutrients, and oil from corn and returns it into the livestock feed supply chain. -
According to a report on WSB, The Georgia Agriculture Commissioner reports that Georgia has a $5 Billion poultry industry and because of the severe droughts, Georgia farmers are paying an additional $1 Million PER DAY in feed costs. The prices of theses chickens will rise sharply in the next few months. I might suggest stocking up your freezer and maybe even stocking up your cupboard on other goods as well. The cost of feed for beef & pork have also risen and will result in higher prices for that as well. Have you also noticed the rise in gasoline prices too? At the BP gas stat

A lot of folks were lined up on Wednesday (me included) to get a Chick-fil-A. The real question is how many of us have lined up to help an orphan or widow? Ouch!

Gambling is completely voluntary, so is paying the "sin" excise tax on tobacco and alcoholic beverages. I voted for the casino gambling, but I've never even steeped into a casino. If your gambling can help pay for my son's college education, I'm all for it!

My kid is definately not a bully, he was punched without provacation by one of these Ritalin kids. If your Ritalin kid hits and punches other kids, if your Ritalin kid acts out in class and curses at the teachers, if your Ritalin kid is constantly poking and pinching at girls boobs and fanny, and the only excuse you can say is, well he hasn't been taking his meds...then YES!!! He needs to be segregated.
-
Use a belt to change his behavior...duh.... the harder you hit, the less likely the kid will be to show out. But again, you'll whine and moan and give him another pill so you won't have to whip him. Bad behavior = corporal punishment It's pretty simple!
-
I wanted the students who take psychotic behavioral controlling meds to be segregated from the rest of the class. If they have to be sedated just to attend school, something ought to be done so they don't disrupt class.

Board of Commissioners Decide to Raise Tax Millage
Coppertop's Pop replied to kp527's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Commissioner Todd Pownall voted against the tax hike! Way to go Todd! -
Start by flushing all of his mind altering drugs down the toilet, then grab a belt and DARE him to nut up on you nor anyone else. For every action, there will be consequences (an old fashioned consequence too not just a loss of a cell phone or internet). Oh after a couple of hard licks, eventually he'll figure it out that you mean business. Man up and be a dad! But you won't take my advice, you'll get all defensive and ask a doctor for even more pills.

The following quotes were taken from Neal Boortz web site... type in www.boortz.com and do a web search. Amazing. THE NEXT HUGE HEALTH CARE FRAUD Lilly Pharmaceuticals is running an ad on television that portends the next great health care fraud. These advertisements encourage adult Americans to consult their doctors to see if they just might be suffering from ADD. And just why would Lilly be running these advertisements? Could it possibly be because they would like adults to run to their doctors for a nice prescription of some ADD drug? Many of these psychotropic drugs, Rital

Nearly everone I voted for lost...coroner, school board, county commissioner, etc. At least I was correct on the TSPLOST! I voted NO on that one.

A quote from neal Boortz....."Try to understand that we like our cars. We aren’t going to get in our car to drive to a parking lot to catch a bus that will take us to a train that will take us to another bus that will get us about two blocks from where we work. We’ll drive."

http://money.cnn.com/2012/07/25/investing/corn-food-prices/index.htm http://buzz.money.cnn.com/2012/07/30/corn-soybean-prices/ Economists are warning of record high corn prices as the drought in the midwest continues. It makes sense to start now to prepare for the coming spike in food prices. Folks might be wise to hold off on big ticket items and start getting their finances in order. Who ever thought the land of plenty will come to want? It's happening right before us and we need to get prepared and not wait.

My wife and I both voted NO! I hope this debacle fails and fails by a WIDE margin.

Obama wasn't running against an Incumbent! So your statement is quite untrue, isn't it? Bottom line is our local, state & national politicians have spent and spent and now they want even more of our taxes to spend. I say ENOUGH already! I proudly voted NO on the TSPLOST and I voted against those politicians in office who are trying to raise my taxes even more. What got Obama elected was a stock market about to crash, automakers were broke, the banking system was in turmoil, we were being overrun with illegal immigration, we had two wars and the list could continue for a while long

I'm sick of all the junk mail and phone call from Heath and Carruth both. Each on says the other is lying, etc etc. I voted for Rogers just because he hasn't irked me like Heath and Carruth. Also, I don't want to pay one cent more in taxes. Those vultures already have enough of my money!
-
I simply don't trust our elected officials and I don't want to vote ourselves a tax hike. If they vote for a tax hike, we can vote them out of office, but if we vote ourselves a tax hike, they get a free pass. I voted early and I Voted NO! I travel down Macland road quite a bit and it does need to be widened, but gasoline taxes are for roads, not sales taxes. There is a difference and I wish people would learn just how many types of taxes they are burdened with before voting to increase taxes on themselves.

the boycott thing doesn't seem to be working
Coppertop's Pop replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thanks for the history lesson, however, school's out and it's time for supper. Who's up for a Chick-fil-A? Yum! -
I went to Chick-fil-A yesterday and the place was very busy. The drive thru was backed up too. The boycott wouldn't hurt Mr. Cathey anyways, he's a Billionaire. If it were to hurt someone, it would be a student trying to work his way through college or maybe a single mom trying to work a few extra shifts to make ends meet.

http://news.yahoo.com/u-midwest-drought-fears-worsen-grain-prices-jump-191921587.html Another article where the financial experts expect food prices to rise beacuse of the drought. In the article above, "The U.S. Agriculture Department forecast that food prices would now out-pace other consumer costs through 2013 as drought destroys crops and erodes supplies. "The drought is really going to hit food prices next year," said USDA economist Richard Volpe, adding that pressure on food prices would start building later this year." While I understand no one can predict the future

I have ZERO confidence in our local school board. Especially the Zero Tolerance rules regarding discipline. I don't particularly care for your attorney, nor the superintendent either, nor that pot-bellied campus cop at PCHS either. As far as the budget, the Board gives furloughs to teachers because the budget is so tight, then wonder why test scores are low. Duh! Furloughs for teachers, then you award multi-million dollar contracts to your contractor buddies? Stop screwing the teachers over please. Thank you! If you need more money, have the political guts to adjust the millage rate
