I see nothing wrong with home protection. I think for those that own a gun that is the exclusive use of it other than hunting for food. I think there are other things more suitable for toys and entertainment and that is my issue with what we are seeing in our society at the moment. Just how often do you have to practice with something that you literally have a 1 in a million chance of using for protection depending upon your environment. I know there are hoods were those odds go up and when you look at those hoods gun possession is extremely high and used as a problem solver for everything fro

I was not under the wrong impression about the unintentional part at all. Most gun deaths are intended. Most people also know who shot them, most don't live to tell about it.

I think personal danger from criminals is way over hyped. I am honestly becoming a lot more frightened of finding myself in a situation of improper fire arm use. I was genuinely concerned for the safety of my friends and family during the social gun fun episodes. More concerning was I was the only one concerned enough to leave immediately without expressing my concerns out of fear that you would offend the gun owner. It won't be accepted in my home ever. Leave it in the car or don't come in the door.

Something I read this morning made me think that everyone needs to arm themselves because it is so common to come home and find an intruder behind you refrigerator waiting to attack you. I did a little research and it seems there are thousands of cases of people catching intruders in their refrigerators helping themselves. Lawd help a society protect itself from people stealing beer and food from refrigerators.

The reverse of that is such a simple argument as to be ridiculous. It sounds like a 20 something thesis. A bad one.

I am basically looking for discussion and other opinions. Most people know I am not anti-gun, but guarded in the face of current proliferation of them. I grew up in the rural south. There are 2 different types of firearms in my mind. There are long guns, for hunting and what I would call emergency protection. I didn't know any teenage boys that didn't own one. They all hunted, you would pass them on the bus coming back from hunting. See them pull into the school parking lot in racks on the back of the truck window.' I was also aware of side arms. These were almost never seen and kep

CNN: Outrage grows after South Carolina officer throws student in classroom
LPPT replied to ITMFA's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It's violence and it is reflective of our society as a whole. We are entertained by it. We see it portrayed as a solution to many problems. The ultimate authority is the gun. Whomever owns it gains control and authority over others. We have parents that abuse their authority over their children, we have teachers, school administrators, police and courts that continue the abuse. We are a nation of might makes right even up to our foreign policies. We have created a very narrow pathway for children to walk and as a result more and more are finding themselves with one or 2 feet off the con -

I would have stiffened up if he was reaching for me too. Admit it you enjoying seeing her get what you think she deserved for for running her mouth and being defiant. The violence didn't bother you one bit. Maybe he should have slugged her a few times. That would have taught her and the other kids a good lesson. It is a social problem that nobody has any interest in solving any other way than the way it was solved in that classroom. The sooner we can get the little thugs in jail the better. -

His size is relevant because he never tried to accomplish what he needed to with any less force. I don't think he even really thought about it. He lost it, snatched her out of that chair and drug her across the floor like a dog. I saw all the videos from all the students. I am not taking up for the girl as much as I am condemning the officer for the amount of force he used. He never belonged in a school, out arresting hardened criminals maybe, but not around children. I am starting to think some people enjoyed watching that girl being treated violently for running her mouth. Maybe folks need -

I didn't see the girl doing anything violent, she was showing out running her mouth. It was over kill to snatch her out of that chair. I don't understand all the different situations being thrown around. They are not relevant to this situation. I watched the videos from all the angles more than once. He was out of control, as far as I can see. He was not reacting to a child that was physically out of control which would have made a big difference to me. I dealt with 4 teens, they were mouthy and plenty of times it took all my control not to shut their mouths for them. Just because you don't -

It is all about an adult officer being out of control. The teen was obviously well punished for her bad behavior and now the officer is being punished for his. My mother always said 2 wrongs don't make a right. Neither one deserve excuses made for their behavior. Both have had their lives changed forever. We can only hope they have learned their lesson. Still the idea that people are not sickened by watching a teen girl being used to mop the floor with by a 200 pound man is beyond disturbing. -
Updated Model for Climate Shows that CO2 Contribution is Much Lower

So the extreme right disagrees and the left is intolerant. I see no evidence that the right as a whole is more tolerant than the left. For the most part things seem to go more along with the right and they never stop blaming the left for every problem we have. Under the Bush administration every theory of the right was taken to the max and it resulted in disaster, yet you still blame the left for every single problem that came from that time. Should we have just kept on in that direction perhaps given long enough it would have finally resulted in some type of utopia? It's not intolerance it i -

Thak you LR. At this point we want him to have as much quality time as he can get. We also accept that it will be very limited. I continue to pray that little window to be as good as it can be.

Use google earth to do a time lapse of the poles shrinking. Of course google might be a leftest organization making it up. Everything that the Koch brothers don't like they pay their propaganda machine to fire up and claim it is leftist. Many of you are way to smart to be crying lefty as the answer to all the worlds problems. Little blogs and websites are popping up all over the internet claiming Carsen has been a liberal all his life and registered to vote for the first time in 2007. So is this from the left or the GOP? Gonna have hard time with that one aren't you. The blogger claims to be -

I had the same horrible feeling in my stomach as when the cop put his knee in the back of the little 95lb black girl at the pool party fiasco. Men are very strong, most can easily snap a women or child's neck if he wants to. Neither officer needed to use that much force to subdue the girls. The question is why so much force and do we as a society really want to rationalize doing it. We all have the opportunity to use force to correct our own children, do we smack them on the butt a few times or slam them into a wall over and over again? Should we rationalize parents doing that to a naughty -
global warming Muslim's committing slow genocide with oil
LPPT replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Nice way to start a philosophical conversation Pubby. Nothing wrong with exploring the what ifs in life. Considering how Islam blames us for the ills of this world we may not want them to read this article. I am sure there would be mass migration. Considering their intolerance for other religions it may cause genocide but not of them as it seems you are insinuating. It is however more proof that life in extremes becomes more and more intolerable no matter what end of the spectrum you fall. The Arabs have declared their stance that they will not allow themselves to be undersold ever again i -
I did not realize how tough until I took over for my middle sister. She does commercial and home cleaning. She has been able to arrange her schedule around dad's treatments and many Dr. visits. My other 2 sisters were taking time off from their jobs to help out. I miss working to a certain extent even though it became too difficult towards the end. I was telling a friend how much I miss all the work I did with the local businesses and helping with their marketing. He reminded me that I would not have been able to help my family and my dad had this not happened to me. Taking care of dad w

Did you notice the 10 and 15 day forecast? No killing frost that far out. I think we are going to have a strange winter this year. That is so far from the norm I can't remember when we did not get the first killing frost a week before or after Halloween. I can't imagine the damage a storm like that can do.

Wow! Melissa and I were just talking about you today. We both said what a sweet person you are. It has been a while since we ran into each other, I hope you are doing well. Maybe we can do a lunch one day.
