Our condolences and prayers for the Newton family. -
BCBS has been in bed with our state legislatures for years. Off and on most of the state employees have had it at one time or another. There is also a huge difference in premiums in the states that took the federal Medicaid money. Our insurance commissioners do have some control over what insurance companies can charge and what they have to pay for. They kept more of that control by declining the federal Medicaid. One would think that insurance companies would be glad to have premiums totally or partially paid by Medicaid, it is my guess that it was more profitable under our state rules and r

You trust corporations more? An insurance company is not needed to hand your money to a doctor. They have been allowed to legally manipulate our system for profit until they are bankrupting us. I don't trust them even a little bit.

It has to do with her age. They still allow insurance companies to be punitive according to age. The argument was that they would go bankrupt if they were not allowed to charge more for older people with more health problems. Forcing the youngest demographic to pay for insurance was supposed to offset this so it was allowed. Now they can show that insuring older Americans eroded their bottom line they can raise the premiums which is what we are all feeling this year. Their bottom line is not our problem, our problem is affordable care and getting our doctors fairly reimbursed. What we hav

I believe the Rebublican party is behind taking down Dr. Carson and Donald Trump. I wonder who their real candidate is going to be. They are going to reveal Trumps sordid past now. Hillary disgust me, she is so smug because she has the democratic party soundly behind her. I saw this on facebook and said to myself, Unlike Jackie and Hillary, Michelle would be under arrest for attempting to assassinate the president rather than sitting there primly as though all was good in the White house while their president husbands banged everything in a skirt. By the way t

From what I understand from reading, the copay goes to max out of pocket. It looks like a lot of what you pay goes to the max out of pocket and this is where I am having trouble. They are not clear about what what they do pay until the deductible or out of pocket is paid. I have heard that some don't pay anything until the deductible is paid. I am looking for a split where I pay 20 or 25% of the visit or procedure until the ded is reached. I know you can call and talk to them but the last time I did for my daughter they hounded me by calling. I must have told about 10 agents I had already foun

Premiums went up because insurance companies have a lot more they are forced to pay for. Your physicals and mammograms may be free to you but they are not to your insurance company. A lot of the changes were about preventing medical bankruptcy. Many people were buying catastrophic policies, some knew that was what they were buying and others did not understand the terms well enough to understand just how little coverage they truly had. My premiums have also gone up every year before the changes, I didn't get more coverage for the same money until the reform. It drives me crazy to hear peo

Obama was right to pull out. We don't belong in Muslim countries fighting radical Islam. It is a Muslim problem, all of the Muslims have to decide for themselves to support or embrace the radicals. If they don't want to support it let them eradicate it. It is no different than if we had large numbers of radicalized Christians here. First and foremost they would be Christians and many would defend their beliefs, they would be American Christians which would invoke their protection. We would as a whole see them as our problem and would never allow Muslims to contemplate doing anything to them.

I think that is the political answer. Not sure how they will cover their losses at todays fuel prices. I suspect that some way the American taxpayer would have been on the hook for some of had the pipeline been in production when prices dropped. I wonder if the Canadian people will be forced to buy oil from them to keep them afloat. It does not seem to matter how expensive getting oil is out of the ground we will pay it. Oil and gas are all speculation, how much can they get and will we pay it. The answer has been we will pay almost anything. That has changed over night almost. It is amazin

If I am not mistaken the Canadians just withdrew their application, mainly because it is not economically feasible because of oil prices. Not sure why this article was written, maybe it is old. The head of the Arab Emirates has already said we won't tolerate being under sold. They enjoy their luxurous western lifestyle and have no desire to police the Muslim extremist, they depend on us to stabilize the region. They are a breath away from having the radicals turn on them. Hence they want the American tax payer to continue to support military involvement to stabilize the region. As far as

The most important thing I think for me is to figure out what will go to my deductible. A plan where all my copay go to a deductible would be good. I am not sure if a plan does that. I know that there is a cap on yearly out of pocket. I guess I will have to call when I am doing better and can follow better. As a side note I blew leaves for a few hours this afternoon. I may pay dearly tomorrow but it was good to be out of bed and outside for a while. Some of the plans say 50.00 out of pocket then 20% after that. Does that mean I pay I pay 20% after that or they do? For those that love

I guess I am going to have to educate myself on how PPO's work. Can someone give me a little synapses? I have been with Kaiser for so long. My doctor is leaving and I am looking to follow him. I don't want pain management from a clinic or a doctor I don't trust and does not trust me not to abuse my medication. The Lyme has also gotten progressively worse and I had a horrible experience with their infectious disease specialist. I have always been afraid of getting a serious cancer and being forced to use their doctors or bankrupt my family. The reason I am looking at HMO is the frequency

Do PPO's pay anything before the deductible is met?

The most amazing thing to me is that a lot of the rhetoric is coming from their own parties. Both parties have become tyrants that want to decide who the candidate will be. I am a fan of Sanders, I think he is the most practical when it comes to identifying the biggest problems with our country and the solutions. All countries have a certain level of socialism. You have to look at it and see what parts improve a country and put it in a better position globally and which programs are bad for the people and our global standing. It is in the best interest of every country to wrestle away con

If you really think about the health care industry you will realize there are serious economic repercussions to the absolute curing of cancer. Most of the people I talk to feel that the cures are being withheld for profit. If they are then I think firing squads are in order and I am not even kidding. It would be a crime against humanity right up there on the scale of the Holocaust. The American people have been paying the largest percentage of the profits to medical manufacturing and pharmaceuticals for years. Countries with socialized medicine give the companies a take it or leave it choic

I am looking at changing insurance. I know I want an HMO that pays before deductible. I am looking for one that works well with the Wellstar system. I need an HMO because I am followed for chronic conditions. I am looking at a BCBS plan. I think the majority of doctors take BCBS because it is the dominant insurance company in Ga., not especially the best but I need access to a larger pool of doctors and specialist than my current insurance company offers. So I need the pros and cons of their HMO, especially as it pertains to Wellstar. I did not see where the Wellstar system is offering

I respectfully followed your link and read the information. I went beyond it and as usual found links to those discrediting the people and the research. It is a silly game where mere clicks can prove and refute endlessly. I guess I needed to see if others were alarmed and seeing an uncomfortable trend. We can look back at cultural trends and say wow who didn't see that coming. We are like a van full of people traveling down a dark road and a deer appears. The driver sees the deer, keeps his eye on it to prevent hitting it by evasive action. Others in the van say they see the vague outl

Do you think that all the accidental and intentional shootings are not committed by those permitted. There are 2 different types of murders, one is you have what I want give it to me or I will shoot you. The majority of them are you are not doing as I want you are a problem I am solving with this gun. And then there are the accidents frequently now multiple a day. It is a good thing right, at least they were armed, keeping the criminals in check, so there is a little collateral damage. Better that than a single criminal getting away with a crime against someone. You say blame the people not th

Based on what you have stated on a message board about yourself I should feel comforted somehow that you carry a firearm everywhere. You are the good American right, I should feel good about you exercising your rights. I don't need to know anymore than what you have presented here to be comfortable. On the other hand you could be my neighbor that I hear constant fighting from, sometimes hearing gun shots from. I know you are dangerous and out of control most the time. The gun is on you every time I see you. All I can do is wait and worry until the worse happens. It is no comfort that the

I made the most amusing observation yesterday as again the unruly violent videos of teenagers all black by the way, filled my news feed. All the remarks about someone should have whipped those asses. Their parents are incompetent. I am sure we are all under the impression that we have thousands, if not millions of young people in our schools raised improperly. The only limit we have have on ownership and permitting is a criminal record. Think about those people turning 21, purchasing a fire arm and getting a permit to legally carry. What bothers me is the culture that has evolved around th

I don't know of any personal observations you have other than articles on the internet. It is one thing to read about the 1000's of killings with guns in this country that have little or nothing to do with a criminals preying on someone. The numbers tell us how many people are arming themselves. The reality is being surrounded by 1000's of armed people everywhere you go. The criminals are not dying in record numbers from gunshots. The criminals are still only scared of going to jail. Those that are not afraid of being shot by a fire arm owner aren't living in reality. I am trying to figure

What does hanging out have to do with anything? What a childish answer. Society is full of people with an improper mindset arming themselves because they can. These people are scary and dangerous. We can't call them out because the inferred threat is they will shoot us if they don't like what we say or do around them.
-
I really don't want this to dissolve into an anti or pro side arm argument. Here is an article on the surface that seems to not have anything to do with the side arm issue. I can find 1000's of articles that represent this situation and a gun was used. I agree that a gun can't harm anyone or anything by itself. It is always the human which is what makes the gun potentially one of the scariest objects that exist. Here is an example of problem solving with violence and death. It is happening at an alarming rate. I have already read a few articles that have gun killings in them, but it is

So your gun has one function. The thoughts that surround it are about need. You also don't seem obsessed with the need to carry it at all times. How would you feel if that mind set was increasingly forced on you. That is what I am getting at. It is not as much the criminal that is pushing me into that mindset, it is the proliferation and the humans behind it.
-
Because everything he wrote can be reversed and shown the opposite is just as true. More importantly is are you the least bit concerned about the social implications of the proliferation of side arm ownership. Do you feel safer or more threatened? Do you think that there is a proper mindset and etiquette that is missing in the frenzy to exercise one's right own them. Should we seek to address the social problem? Social issues are addressed through education and social pressure not especially through legislation. Rational people as Al said seek to have protection if needed. Simple concept,
