  1. My heart goes out to the family and also our LE who who worked long and hard to try to make the outcome better than how it tragically ended. It is hard for us to understand when someone's emotional pain becomes so bad that they can no longer deal with the pain. The family and friends will always ask themselves if they could have made a difference. I hope they are comforted by knowing they could no more cure this main of the pain in his heart than they could have cured him for cancer. You can not force anyone to seek or accept treatment for any illness.
  2. Funny you brought up SPLOST. I like it less and less. It generates higher and higher taxes every year. I have no issue with the purchase of new equipment for county services. Way too much of it is spent on more money pits to create a better and more attractive bedroom community. This is good for those in real-estate and service industry. Ultimately our millage rates will rise to cover the county employees needed to keep up all the pretties the SPLOST buys.
  3. I love you too Low and I remembered so much you told me to expect. It helped me take much in stride and cope.
  4. Thank you Pubby and all those that are praying and have been with me through the journey. I realized that the loss of an active social life and job I loved allowed me this time with my father over the last few years. It was a blessing in disguise as they say. I know God's hand is there through the ups and downs and losses.
  5. Larry Joe Clement, 77 Millington, Tn passed away in his home May 3rd surrounded by his loving daughters. Joe was born in Crockett Mills Tn. but spent his adult life living in Memphis Tn., Tipton county Tn., and finally settling in Millington where he remained until his death. 6. It will take big changes to turn downtown around. It has to become a destination to bring in steady customers to an upscale restaurant om a steady basis. The city may want to look into a grant writer that will look for money that allows them to purchase the old buildings to preserve them as historical. There may be enough money to help some owners with upgrades to the facades. The old town has some good bones but needs to be fleshed out. The return is to make it a tourist destination. They can get more tax revenue that way. A big draw would definitely be the ability to serve food at tables in
  7. You got my meaning as in we tend to be too busy to realize what is truly important. My dad and I did not have a great relationship when I was younger, we did not speak much for many years. My revenge is to make up for it LOL! I know there are no do overs. . Love beyond the grave is different, in some ways easier, simpler, I almost embrace and cherish the complexity that is human to human in all it's imperfections.
  8. Our beliefs are very much the same. I won't even sit in my mothers recliner. There is no doubt she is right there in it beside dad as it is a love seat and they were 2 peas in a pod in it. His pain is very hard to deal with, As you well know I am a doer and something has to be done when he hurts. I give him multiple massages every day. That is how I finally got him to take the 12 hour morphine by refusing to give him one until he took it. The nurse was so impressed by his breathing and activity when she saw him today. This is very rough on my family, but they are supporting me and all are visi
  9. I am going to remember that, I have won round 5 of the pain control battle finally!. We had a great few days now that he can breath deeply. He is puttering and enjoying himself. I know it won't last so I may use that one for the next round.
  10. Thank you LR I know you have been through this. We all face this and some point. I want more than anything as many good days as possible. I agree that we may think about our last days, but we don't know until it is real. I am hoping that it will be peaceful. I have some suspicions about whether our last days are peaceful or not. I am hoping that he feels he has earned peace and not needing to earn his passage. I am not exactly sure how to put that in a way that others can understand. I am not trying to shape his journey with my needs and wants for him. Sometimes we love them so much we want to
  11. We all think about it from time to time. The idea of a bucket list has become popular lately. We want to see or experience things before we go. I have been with dad since the day he was told there was no more treatment. I do not want him to be alone in the last days of his journey. Of course you have no idea what to expect. I am just along for the ride, whatever he wants or needs I am here. Amazingly there is no bucket list, he seems to want less of some things and more of others. Some of it is subconscious I am sure. He spends a lot of time dozing on the couch watching or listen
  12. It's really not that confusing if you understand the basics of human behavior, which comes down to us all having the same set of emotional needs. The difference comes in to how we go about getting our needs met. 2 of the most basic needs are to feel in control and to feel we fit in somewhere. Once you apply these you can almost always figure out where someone is coming from. The less people have these needs met especially when very young the more dysfunctional they become. There are people that will go to extreme lengths to conform and others that will demand acceptance at all cost. They

I have known them for many years, read the reviews. I have personally known many people that bought from there. Jason will not sell you anything he would not sell to his own mother. He will also actively look
  14. Downtown is missing ambiance. The facades are low and dark or non-existent. It just does not look all that welcoming. I can understand the reluctance for small business to invest in it. I hope the brew pub will turn it around. It would be nice to have small art exhibits on the weekends. Small bands and maybe small food vendors in the little park. Downtown Cartersville has something every weekend in warm weather. You can plan a day trip and know they will have something that day. There needs to be some marketing that brings Silver Comet bike riders every weekend. Down loadable coupons from th
  15. No it is not fair. It is very clear that our constitution is an effort to make life as fair as possible for as many as it can. This is why so many immigrate to this country and why we were looked up to by people all over the world. This is just another issue in a long line of them the the far right has sought favoritism through manipulating legislation. They seem genuinely bewildered by the backlash against the the Christian right.
  16. https://www.yahoo.com/news/mississippi-senate-passes-house-bill-211300662.html?nhp=1 In Mississippi on Thursday, the Senate voted 28-18 in favor of House Bill 1523, which protects the refusal of service to LGBTQ people by anyone, including religious organizations or businesses, if it conflicts with "'sincerely held' religious beliefs," according to Buzzfeed. Those beliefs include marriage being between a man and a woman and that gender refers to the genetics someone is born with, New York Magazine reported. The bill protects a multitude of services such as performing a marriage, servicing
  17. The article is purposely over simplifying the issue of the state laws and exactly what the intent of passing the laws in states. We will find as time goes on that challenges in individual states will show the clear intent was for individuals to discriminate against individuals claiming it is their religious right to do so. article does not change fact that it is vote pandering.
  18. This is vote pandering at it's worse. I will never understand why people embrace this obvious manipulation. The bill allowing medical marijuana to be grown and dispensed here is dead in the water. The feds and many states have gone soft on the issue, yet we are letting people suffer here. Under current laws people bringing it in for medical use can be arrested. Churches have always been legally allowed to discriminate against sinners. You can walk in any church and legally discriminate against all sin. As far as transsexuals,in restrooms we have laws to protect us against sex crimes and per
  19. Yet another election that revolves around the airport. I have one question, especially for the anti- commercialization folks. You have rallied around the group of people that are the most severely effected by the airport. They are the core of your campaign. Say you get people in there that stop commercialization, are you still going to stand behind and help those people that will never have quality of life if anything flies out of there? These people have been trying to get help for years before Propeller came along. Are all of you going to continue to fight for them? will the lawyers fig
  20. My condolences to the Hunt family for their loss of such a wonderful lady. I admired and respected Vera so much. I always got a kick out of watching her organize and run Hunts Meadow with her family. She was energetic and feisty, I know she will be dearly missed by all that knew her. I owe so much to her and her family. They provided a wonderful marketing venue that we built our fledgling practice on over 20 years ago. I wish I was at home I have some great pictures from the event we participated in and enjoyed all those years ago. Heart felt prayers for comfort from the Penney"s
  21. Love, love, love those ladies! Country music was a big part of our lives growing up. If they were on tv, we were sitting around it. Singing with it in the car and going to Jamborees on the weekends. I even turned my kids on to the old stuff and they love it. Of course they like the new stuff, which for us old timers is pop music, not true country that came out of the Appalachian mountains and the cowboys out west. I stopped by Loretta Lynn's dude ranch after passing it by at least a thousand times over the last 45 years and it was beautiful. If you are ever traveling down 240 you really s
  22. I guess you are assuming I was talking about the anti-airport folks or you would not have jumped to conclusions. You folks are not the only people that think they are special and in need of a commissioner taking up your cause.
  23. The Paulding AA pursued Propeller. I am sure they were told that they would be welcomed with open arms to a county that desperately needed an industrial tax income to offset the residential and small business burden among other things. I would not be surprised if they were told the only opposition were a handful malcontents close to the runway that could easily be dealt with. A common theme here in the county. I don't believe that the opposition to the commercialization would have gotten off the ground if it were not for this handful that had nothing left to lose. For those that supported co
  24. I am glad to see Ron in an elected position here in the county. I have admired him for a long time. He is strong and independent. I know that he has intended to go into politics for a long time. I hope he will not change in his first position. I have seen him stand up against rhetoric that didn't always make him popular in the circles he is in. I don't think he will be a puppet for any special interest groups, if people voted for him based on that they may be disappointed. I hope he has not changed and will go on to have a good political career if he continues to be truthful and to exercise
