  5. hey there....my thoughts and prayers go out to you! My dad was diagnosed a couple of years ago, he is now 86, (he was exposed to asbestos and smoked till his 40's), not sure if any of this was what caused the COPD. I talked to a physical therapist that recommended the shower stool and a walker; my dad absolutely refuses to use these, saying, "I am fine"!! The therapist says while showering and standing, he is using too much oxygen. A walker, if only used in the privacy of the home, would help conserve energy and oxygen. My dad is 500 miles away and by himself, and I worry constantly. Th
  6. yes and this is a step that she had to learn to do, now when she does it I ask her if she is pucking up to kiss me lol I try to make jokes with her about certain things she has to do now, just to make her smile.. sometimes she will say I have been thinking, and I will say mama did you have your oxygen on while you were thinking, and she will laugh at me.. and sometimes if we are talking and I say *I forgot what/were it was* she will say * do i need to hook you up to my oxygen to help with your memory* so we are trying to make the best out of what we have been handed. Thanks I h
  7. Thank you for all the advice Riograce.... bending over for mama knocks the air out of her,(her words) she has learned to squat but sometimes she forgets and will bend over and wham it hits her. taking a shower she trys to time when she is feeling ok.. but it wears her out.. she does have to wear her oxygen all the time, the longest she can go with out it now is 20 minutes, and that is sitting down doing nothing. we never got her an oximeter she decided against it. (another of those * I have to pick my battles with mama deals*) plus the doctor did say that sometimes if you get to much carb

  11. I wanted to update y'all on my mama, she is in the last stage of copd/emphysema her lung capacity is low, and Riograce she has mild pulmonary arterial hypertension the Eco Gram that was done when she had the stress test in the ER showed it up but the doctor said it was so mild that it would not cause the chest pains she is having. she is having a CT scan tuesday morning on her lungs, we get the results on wed morning when i take her back to the doctor.. I am just afraid of what they will find with the CT scan. with her coughing up some blood. and being so short of breath, this whole situ

Mama's appointment has been moved up to this morning to see her lung doctor... she has coughed up a little blood this week, not much, and not every time she coughs. but enough for concern, her appointment is at 10 this morning. so say a little prayer, no make that a big prayer that it does not turn out to be what i think it could be.
