  1. Years ago when I was struggling, I also had some unpleasant dealings with GMAC. Seems like there may be some federal programs available for this sort of thing. Maybe a Google search would prove helpful. Hope things look up for you Glen, I'll keep my ear to the ground for you.
  2. That's usually what happens when government starts meddling with laws, they create more problems than they fix. Oh and, put me in the "marriage is between one woman - one man camp." It is a legal contract sanctioned by the state. It extends certain financial perks and privileges that were mainly designed to encourage family and procreation. Certain, procreation isn't required; but it was one of the main factors that was considered in the design of marriage benefits. I really don't care what consenting adults do in their own privacy, I do not want the government in any of our bed
  3. Watchcritter won't let anyone get close to my house.
  4. I am not a fan of the wireless systems, better to hardwire it. Bose makes a quality system, but the audiophiles (that's me) don't usually care for them. Reason being; they use some trickery to get that kind of sound out of their tiny speakers. A trained ear will know that the sound is a bit artificial, however it will be pleasing to most people. If you like the way it sounds, get it. Same with the Bose 321 or the soundbar systems. They are not true surround sound, they use electronic time delays to fool your ears into thinking some of the sounds come from behind you. Again.....not disp
  5. Having gone through a couple of other brands; spend the extra money and get an actual Apple ipod. They are quality devices and all the accessories are built around the Apple product. Apple pretty much owns this market. I use an 8 gig Ipod Nano at the gym, and I really like it. As a rule of thumb, you can get about 150 songs per gig or memory. They will tell you more than that, but the real numbers are less. As for formats; any music can be converted to the mp3 format that these players use. The itunes software will do that automatically. There are lots of ways to get the music, you ca
  6. I think......he is doing all this to get attention, and a lot of people are allowing him exactly that. Rockysmom is correct, he's just a fart in the wind. True talent does not need to use such flamboyance. And I, for one, do not appreciate entertainers who think it's their high responsibility to advance their social agendas. OK, I have just used more words than he deserves.
  7. The retailers will probably be pulling out all stops this year. A lot of them are hanging by a thread, and MUST have good holiday sales if they are to survive. Look for another round of business failures after the first. This time there will be more small businesses drop.

  9. They can still be used by anyone with DTV service. They would have to buy a new access card, about $20 if I recall, and call in to activate it. The benefit of this is that they wouldn't have to enter into a contract to add a receiver. A friend gave me some of theirs a few years ago, and I have used a couple of them when I added service to a bedroom and I added one just to play music in the back yard. I currently have six receivers, 2 of which are DVR's.
  10. I would rather pee on a spark plug than be in the stores Friday.
  11. She can outdo me anytime.
  12. Star Trek, it's a Feringee (sp?) And I thought you were my buddy.....
  13. You get to pull my finger
  14. Maybe this will help explain. http://www.mansfieldct.org/schools/mms/staff/hand/convcondrad.htm Conventional ovens use radiation to transfer heat. Obviously, most of this type of heat comes from one direction. Convection ovens surround the food with near-equal heat, giving faster and more even cooking. Convection ovens have been used in commercial applications for many years.
  15. Lost my dad about 3 years ago in very similar circumstances. Prayer for your family TBAR, may God give you peace and comfort at this difficult time.
  16. Depends what kind of drive you have. If you have a CR-RW drive, you need a CD-R. If you have a DVD-RW, you can use either CD-R's or DVD-R's. DVD's will hold about 5 times the data that CD's will.
  17. I'm a master at the barter system, I've done it for years. I am skilled in a lot of areas and I trade my skills for things I need.
  18. With mower repairs slowing down for the winter, Subby takes a temporary job as a clown to supplement his income.
  19. Check with Johnboy to see if he has the code reader. If he doesn't, try Nick's Automotive. BTW...different cars require different types of fluid these days. I hope he used the right kind.
  20. Nah, I had to put a waterpump on it instead.
