  1. Mark, I suspect that you have a problem with the strip heat. Conventional heat pumps have electric back-up heaters for weather like we're having now. Heat pumps are great, but they do lose a lot of their capacity when outdoor temps get this low. A typical heat pump in a typical middle class house will have 10-15 KW (kilowatt) of strip heat. If properly sized, that should heat your house. I know you've had it checked, but I think you need a second opinion. Call RNG tomorrow, and maybe one of our guys can help you out. I would do it myself, but my mom is in poor health and I've
  2. Probably $100 or more for a real professional to come out and do a thorough job. People with the proper training and experience deserve to be paid well. But, there are plenty of hacks around that work for peanuts. You get what you pay for. It could just be a thermocouple, but it typically isn;t if it will relight. It may just be a pilot flame adjustment, or it could have a serious problem like a cracked heat exchanger. Some furnaces have a high limit safety that will kill the pilot light if it overheats...like because of a clogged filter. Make sure it has a clean filter in it before
  3. RNG let a burp so big, it skeeered the cat in the warehouse. That was kinda funny
  4. Here are some helpful tools http://www.fitday.com/ http://www.freedieting.com/ http://www.realage.com/ralong/entry4.aspx?cbr=GGLE806&gclid=CJuondz-ip8CFZAN5Qod-zvRMQ FYI......a lot of the commonly held beliefs are just bull. Stay away from the fad diets, stay away from the chemicals. Just eat healthy and exercise, and you'll lose weight the healthy way. And don't be concerned with weight only, go for overall fitness. Don't go by rules of thumb where caloric intake is concerned. Run the calculators on these sites and see how many calories YOU should be eating.
  5. Just a different take here....... Years ago when I first started exercising, I also did it with a buddy. I figured, as you are, that the support system would help. After he quit, I went through 3 other workout partners and finally quit working out for awhile because I didn't have anyone to workout with. Moral of the story; most of not all of the people who you start exercising with will back out on you at some point. If you are counting on them for support, you may also fail. If you want to workout with people, fine. But don't count on them. Go into this with enough drive and deter
  6. Great thread. Very telling about where the real problem lies. Carry on.......
  7. Sigh.... I guess Guard mom will have to pull my finger.
  8. We just got back from eating Mexican. Anyone wanna pull my finger?
  9. Congrats! Generally speaking, this is the way to go...especially in the current economy. Cash is king, and debt can take you down when times are tough. One good thing that I hope comes from this mess is for people to reign in their debt. Personal debt in the US is staggering and disturbing, it's no wonder we have such high loan default. I have had excessive debt in years past, and I saw what it did to me. Now, I use my credit much more sparingly. Aside from big-ticket items such as home of auto purchases, I don't buy it if I can't pay cash for it. Even if I use a credit card, I pa
  10. Expanding on this....every time you get a JAVA update, it wants to push a toolbar on you. You'll need to uncheck the box to avoid installing it.
  11. Not sure how to clear it. But if I was you, I'd delete the Google tool bar. Those things are notorious for spying on you.
  12. Didn't get to read all the replies, so sorry if this is redundant. Sounds to me like they just want an excuse to bill the insurance company for two office visits, instead of dealing with both issues in one visit.
  13. Agreed. It makes us cynical and can cause us to not help the people who really need it.
  14. Several times, and at Racetrack too. Smells too much like a scam.
  15. Yeah, it really is. Ford is making good cars these days, but some of their styling is hideous.
  16. LOL We have both ford and GM vans in the bit'ness, and the GMs have been the better of the two. But I admit that I'll have a tough time on the next purchase because of the government and union thing. But thanks to the crappy economy, it will probably be awhile before we need to buy another truck.
  17. But you have to pull the finger, baby!
  18. Not with how business is right now. If it gets worse, we may learn to like Alpo.
  19. My biz partner had straight propane heat, was costing him a fortune. We put in a super high eff dual-fuel system, saves him about 4 grand per year. Big house, but still.
  20. Change to a heat pump for your primary source of heat. Then your tank should last months, and you can fill it in the summer when rates are lower. Propane as the primary source of heat is no deal.
