  1. I have just started "A Heartbeat Away" by Bremen physician Dr. Kele Sewell. I enjoy reading books by local authors.

On the back of the book it states, "He has authored two novels and is currently collaberating on a third novel with Dr. Neil Shulman, author of 'Doc Hollywood.'"

have you ever read anything by ferral sams, he's a graduate of emory, a recently retired physician (pretty local) ....

Run With The Horseman, Wisper of the River.....wonderfully humorous books....., there is also Cold Sassy Tree, can't recall the authors name right now

  2. Much of the Paulding I knew and loved is gone, but the courthouse and the traffic signal at the square always trigger memories. That light was the only one in the county until I was a teenager in the late 70s. The Braswell Mtns. are another place, since I used ride dirt bikes there all the time.

when I was a little girl we would go camping down at racoon right at the tressell, c-o-l-d water....loved waking up to the smells of the creek, fireside cooking....such a good way to spend 2 or 3 weeks in the summer....nothing like it, we always stopped at the old chuch at Braswell, went berry picking every 4th of July

  3. I think she meant frozen peas and carrots.

My mom used to put some black gooey "drawing salve" on our bites. I haven't seen it in stores in years, though.

you can still buy it, behind the counter in the pharmacy (ichmanol ointment aka... drawing salve) do be watchful, as I'am sure you are for infection, had a brown recluse bite in March, several trips to the doctor, several injections and meds by mouth, and still got a scar....hope he does well

  4. It isn't Clayton county. It is unsupervised teens that are running around, out of school with nothing better to do, because there are no adults there to make sure they are in order.

Just like the other day, There where 3 young teen ( I say young teen because my 14 year old knows of them) boys riding there skateboards on hwy 120 playing chicken with the BIG trucks and cars topping the hill. I see the same boys on mulberry rock Rd. Where are these kids parents or there supervision? Have the parents just completely lost there mind letting there kids do stupid stuff like this. Do they not realize in one fell swoop there kids can and will be gone if they continue to skate on a busy hwy. I suppose god for bid something like that happens it will be all the truck/car drivers fault too..

It is really sad, how much Paulding County has changed over the passed few years. Kids these days don't get disciplined enough, and have everything just given to them.

    Sad sad situation.

I was driving from Villa Rica on 101 the other nite around 11:30 and two teenagers came wheeling out on skateboards at Wesley Chappel Road I would have stopped ( and sent them home:) ...) but there was a transfer truck on my bumper... some people must not like their children....

  5. Jekyll is beautiful but the hotels were not!

My advice is to stay on St Simon's and go spend the day or picnic on Jekyll. Bring snacks or sandwich stuff there is

really very little to eat on Jekyll.

We stay at Epworth on St Simon's it's the Methodist retreat.

    www.Epworthbythesea.com

Very clean and great prices. Family oriented and a beautiful setting.

We tend to do long weekend in that area. A week seems too long for us.

St Simon's village is very cool. Neat shops, restaurants, a pier, the lighthouse.

Make sure you go to the petrified beach area on Jekyll. It has a different name but I can't remember right now. :)

    Sunsets are awesome from there.

    driftwood beach....lots of shark's around .....

  6. tons of them, 45's included, some very old ones also, like a hank williams sr, early johnny cash, I've collected these from childhood ...in the cover, some like new....lots from 60's and 70's...eagles, red headed stranger, lynard skinner album that has the flames on it, lou rawls live, all kinds of music....

  7. I've had the chance to hear others (such as vet's and their staff, as well as folks from other area counties) make such nice comments about the county shelter and what a wonderful bunch that back the shelter....their adoption rates are higher from what I've been told than our surrounding area shelters....and the amount of effort from volunteers much greater, so I just wanted to tell you folks that give so much, that people from far and wide are talking about you AND ITS ALL GREAT!!!!! I also have to add how much I admire someone who gives with their heart knowing there is nothing coming back for having done the giving , heartfelt giving is what you folks do !!!

  8. there is a product called skin effects (cvs has it ) and there is one particular cream for wrinkles, it has peptides that "fill" the skin, its 29.00 a bottle and you can see it work (plus cvs will refund you money as long as you go back within 30 daysof purchase if you don't like the product) its good enough to see it work on your hand at the time of application, good stuff

  9. thoughts and prayers sent .....Emory is a good place to be when you don't know whats going on, they look till they find it.....I hope they find out quickly and get him on the fast track to recovery.....
