This is mostly due to theft. Companies package things so they can not easily be opened and pocketed. I have noticed a new trend at stores where they locking peg hooks to keep items from being taken somewhere opened then pocketed after discarding the package and security device. Sad isn't it. It also costs comsumers more when purchasing the item. Just gotta love thieves.

I'm confused by this statement. I kow nothing about the case you speak of but just how things work. So you are saying that since they were not legally married, that one got stuck with the tax bill of the other simly because they were not married? I know that when you ARE married, the surviving spouse is still legally responsible. I would love to live off the grid. Get a 40 acre plot of land in and around the mountains. Get solar panels and geothermal heating. Have my own well.
