  1. Surely you did not empty the entire tank in just 1 month. That fill usually lasts about a year.
  2. Nope, I'm sitting in the bay next to my fire truck right now. We just got back from a chimney fire though.
  3. We have gas heat. I supplement that with oil filled space heaters. In the morning when I shower I turn on the heater in the bathroom so I do not have to heat the whole house.

  5. Do you have a heat pump? Have you been running it in Emergency mode if you do? Heat pumps do not function well at all in the cold weather we have bean having. There has to be heat outside for them to pull inside.
  6. All I have to say is "ooohhhggaaa boooogaaa boooo!" I escaped!!!! And you can't catch meeee... na na ne boo boo...
  7. Since they are usually too young to really grasp the concept of the pain that THEY are inflicting on someone else it has to be relayed in a different manner than speech. BITE THEM BACK right away. No ifs no ands no buts. Do not use all your bite strength and do not draw blood. Then when they calm down explain to them that the pain they just felt is the same as the pain they inflicted. I did this with both of mine. Both stopped almost immediately. My son was harder because he is just mean. He knew what it felt like but still did it. Several bites later (still fairly quickly though) he figured
  8. The founder of Air America... Al Franken. Rachael Maddow got her start at AA.
  9. Outlets can be wired many ways in a sequence. I think what was meant was the sequence rather than series. but yes each outlet is wired Hot (+) to Hot and Neutral (-) to Neutral and Ground to Ground. That would be Parallel. They are not wired + to - as would be the case in a true series.
  10. I paid $35 / week + mom kept my scholarship money from Germany (about $300 / month). So all total about $400 /month with food and board in the late 80's. What a deal! And I paid for most of college (my college fund consisted of $6,000), bought my own car, gas insurance and repairs. Any wonder why I am intolerant of the gimme gimme folks.
  11. Dagmar is my sister... But it is not the one here or Midcap. (Darn the luck)
  12. When I remodeled my basement it required me to revamp the wiring. No problem... Yeah right. Off... check disconnect the outlet where I want start. Check.. Everything down circuit is now dead... Check... well... maybe not. Engage breaker, Hey I have to have lights to work right? Go to supposedly dead breaker... ZZZAAAPP!!! Holy crap Batman!!! Alrighty then... Let's start again, something ain't right. Now try to follow me on this. My basement contains, basically the garage and 2 rooms. Directly over them is the living room ( over room 1) and kitchen (over room 2). It took me about 2 hours of t
  13. Me too!! How do I get rid of the stupid things. I can not navigate.
  14. We always clean up, usually before the wrecker gets there. Good news is, tempered glass will not harm the tires. You could slide a little though. If they left a mess, I would be moore cocerned about a stray screw.
  15. Lights and outlets do not have to be on seperate circuits. The lights will come in first on the circuit because they are not protected. All the outlets in a wet environment are required to be GFIC protected. To save money they will only use 1 GFIC outlet. That one will protect the outlets down circuit. the GFIC outlet will be the first outlet in the circuit after the lights. Your GFIC outlet has been tripped or is bad.
  16. Coming from 10 years in remodeling, You are officially required to get a permit and have inspections. Framing, Rough-in and final. That offically allows them to make certain that building codes are followed and the structure is safe. It will unfortunately lead to a tax increase. Permits are inexpensive. If you use a contracter he will take care of permits and inspections. As the homeowner you do not have to be certified to get permits for plumbing and elect. You will still have to follow code. Over all it is not a difficult process. On the flip side, if this person is on good terms with the ne
  17. Until it feels better... Sorry, could not pass that one up.
  18. I have. Healing time varies depends on how much you walk on it and your age. The more you stress it (walking) and the older you are the longer it takes to heal.
  19. It AIN"T my wife!! My bills would all be late. I tried that already and my credit score took a beating. Not because we had no money, just because she forgot.
  20. We always went in Sep just after Labor day. We planned our wedding (Sep 9)for that time for a reason. So it is usually hot then too. We flew there for our Honeymoon. So when we left we were sweating in shorts and t-shirts but needed a coat when we got back here. That was a shock!

    MLK Day

Given the Choice of my Birthday or MLK day off, I think the choice would be clear. Given the fact that after 16 years I still lack the seniority to get Memorial, 4th July or Labor day off, I would pick my BDay over them too.
  22. I have been in Apr, May, Jun, Aug, Sep and Oct. There are good and bad things with each. Let me first say under NO circumstance do you ever go in Aug. We melted. My favorite time is October. The humidity is low and the days are very pleasant plus there is MNSSHP. September is still very hot and humid but there are far fewer people to deal with. Apr and May were both nice but even in May the Temps were rising. The humidity is not that bad in May and Jun. The mid day heat can be bad though. The best part about the Jun stay is they are at full operating capacity and longest open hours. If you sta
  23. I'm better versed with on property stays. Since there are 5 of you, your choices for single room stays will be more limited. Not all of the Value resorts can accomodate 5 people. I belive the movies has a suite section & possibly Pop Century. The Moderate Riverside does have trundle beds in some rooms to cover 5, but the mains beds are full size. Here is a link to where I get most of my info. WDW info You can go under the Budget & Family forums. There are many topics on saving money and getting discounts. Discounts depend greatly on time of stay. You also have to consider the "
