  1. I couldn't even begin to tell you what I have been called out for. The general rule for 911 though, is if someone calls 911 for any reason asking for help and it is not PD related then send Fire. Even then Fire responds to many of the PD calls also. I had a call where we went to help an elderly man with blood in his stool. We arrive and the family is all there having a trivial pursuit game. NO KIDDING!!! There were at least half a dozen drivers and vehicles available. Anyway, he had abdominal surgery 2 days prior. They told the daughter (Dad was living with them) that IF he had 2 bloody st
  2. We actually carry Aspirin now. But it is for our heart attack protocols. Just, please do not call us to open yours. It has happened before.
  3. That was funny. The bold face part was picked up by my Skype as a phone #.
  4. I think the pricing was an issue. My problem was how I was treated when I went to the office to discuss it. There was no excuse for that. But I guess you missed that the 2 or so times I clearly stated that earlier though.
  5. I told my sister and her husband when they built their house "put in a sprinkler system". It may save your lives and could save your house. They are about 3 miles from the nearest hydrant but are only about 5 miles from Station 6. They can't get the truck down the driveway, it is to narrow winding and steep plus about 800 feet from the road. There is only 1 way that a fire attack will take place there and that is hand laying lines. Even then you will have to shuttle water in on a .7 mile long dirt road. They elected not to. In short, if lighning strikes the house and gets a hold they WILL loos
  6. The FedEx hub behind station 8 in Kennesaw has employment sign out.
  7. And here I was thinking this topic was about little fishies ticling SCUBA Divers...
  8. a 750 gal tank of water will supply almost 5 min of fire attack with a 1 3/4" hose. (150 GPM) that is great for a fast attack and especially for search and rescue. But if you need to put out a fire that has advanced you WILL need hydrant water. Which means personel to make the hose connections. There is the pssibility of utilizing civilians but that is not always so. I am proud of the advancements made at the PCFD. They have come a long way in a short time. But the county is still ISO 6/9. I read where we were getting an improved rating but I just can not give the details. It will take mo
  9. Not gonna be snooty cause great apparatus is a must. But I will say If I had a choice between great apparatus with no extra manpower vs. good apparatus and extra manpower, I would take the extra manpower.
  10. Trust me, we know where most of the "deadbeats" live. And oddly enough we have many more EMS calls there than say Brookstone or East Cobb. In the field we really can not determine who does and does not have insurance though and the FD does not even ask. And our response to "I do not have any insurance" is generally we do not care about that. Let's get you to a hospital and taken care of and then you can discuss insurance with the hospital.

    BEWARE

Retribution for evil deeds is more fun to think about. Plus it provides a learning experience for the bad guys.
  12. I hope the above tirade was not directed at my simple question. If you have any further questions for me I suggest you PM me.
  13. Which leads to another question. If we go to a single payer system, does the county FD then get to bill Uncle PIBO for all the Stercus Tauri (sorry, had to do it) EMS calls that we run? Further, does that make me subject to Fed HC laws even though my primary job is Fire Fighting?
  14. I'm sorry... I do not see the political connection. Sam isn't even running for coroner right now is he? Not to say that someone else may not be grinding an axe for personal reasons.
  15. I have made the request since that incident. And the costs would likely be about the same. Mile charge is only used from the scene to the hospital. It would be about 6 miles for Clark to the school and half a dozen from Puckett anyway. But I like the professionalism shown by them (Puckett) hands down over all the providers I work with. And 2 of my friends run GA EMS. Again these are my own PERSONAL views. On a side note. I was thinking that if Sam was following this, he might have followed up with me about my previous issue that I commented on. I can say that as of right now neither
  16. It has been a long day at the station. I am going to my bunk now. You "ladies" are gonna have to send this to the Tonk without me.
  17. What?!? Mini-Kilts?!? Ohhh Gray_Wolf... Are you reading this?
  18. I think there is some kind of county ordinance that prevents them from hurling those logs inside though.
  19. Especially at the Tilted Kilt in Kennesaw.

    BEWARE

New suggestion... Take that 2 gal GASOLINE CAN. Fill it with Diesel fuel. Again they will take the easy fuel. That will not ruin their engine but it sure will make it feel really bad for a while.

    BEWARE

Well in theorey anyway. A little research indicated that while it would harm the engine if it got to it, the chance of it getting to it was very slim.. Darn...

    BEWARE

edited to say never mind.Sorry that happened to him.
  23. If you call 911 in Cobb and ask for an ambulance, they will send at the minimum 1 Engine and and ambulance. If it is determined that it is an ALS call you will get that PLUS a Rescue. The first arriving apparatus will determine what is needed and either ask for mor or cancel responding units. Sometimes the Ambulance cancels us most of the time if the need for transport is nullified the FD will cancel the ambulance. We use different providers based on territory. Puckett in and around PWD SPGS / Austell. GA EMS in Kennesaw. Metro in the rest of the county. If all units are busy it is possible in
  24. Welcome to my world... All I can say though is... J.O.B. Security. Most of today's citizens would be totally lost without 911.
