You still have not explained exactly what you meant with your comment to me about "bigots". If you meant no offense then what DID you mean?
-
I will never forget them. May they rest in peace knowing that most of the US will always remember and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

Here is a good link to the duties and responsibilities under the Constitution http://www.constitution.org/powright.htm

I've told you before, in general terms when discussing a federal government plan within a topic, and someone refers to the "government" without being specific, they will almost ALWAYS be referring to the FEDERAL Government unless they specifically state otherwise. It is only logical to make that deduction. It is illogical to suddenly jump track and involve the local governments. But go ahead with your petty arguements about "you did not state Federal". We understand the source from which it came and apologize in general for "confusing" you with an implied notion that you failed to grasp.

Does that change the facts as I have presented them? No. SS is paying out more than they take in. That fund has ZERO cash and is full of IOUs. Right now they are getting paid when they are requested and we the taxpayers and the current creditors are paying for them. Fine. But what happens when there is NO MORE CREDIT. HOW HIGH do you think we as a nation can run up our debt before no one ese will give us anymore money? If SS was not operating at such a large deficit I would not be anywhere near as concerned. I suggest you take those rose colored glasses off for a while and look at the situatio

So now you are calling me a bigot?

That fund is full of IOUs NOT ACTUAL CASH MONEY from a government that is almost $15trillion in debt and shows no sign of stopping the debt from rising. If you can not figure out what that means then you are nowhere near as smart as you. Let me ask you this TP... If you had a mortgage and you had a job that paid you money every week. As long as you work and get your pay in cash every week you can pay your mortgage. But if your employer suddenly says that he can't pay you cash anymore but he would be happy to give you an IOU. Do you really think that your Mortgage company would take that IOU as

Right now the income through payroll taxes is less than the payout through benefits. That is to the tune of about 40%. Yes there is a 2.5 -2.6 trillion asset ballance but that is in IOUs. In order to get that money the government must first collect it as taxes or loans then give that money in cash back to the fund. It all works fine until the US says "sorry no more money to give". Answer these questions before you say we will not default. Are we as a nation currently spending more than we take in? Are we making any real progress towards fixing that imbalance? Are we able to just forever increa

That fund is not just full of cash dude. It is full of IOUs from the US government. Right now we are getting 40 cents of every dollar paid out through SS directly from the US government budget. That means either from tax revenues or fro borrowing it from outher countries. The US is Broke... Therefore SS is broke. What will happen to all those IOUs in that account if the Federal government goes bankrupt and cannot pay it back? You are not getting the big picture here. No scare tactics. Just facts dude. Go back and read the links. If not go stick your head back in that hole you have

The only thing "i'm cooking" here is the fact that SS is a joke. It is broke and will not be functioning in the near future without a major redo. And that means MANY of us who have been putting into will be told basically "we are sorry but you will not be able to get SS because you have too many assets. We know that you have paid into for your entire life but that does not matter. Oh... and by the way, you have to continue paying into it even though you know you will never see a dime of it back. Sorry" I would much rther take my chances with an investment group than the Fed. Governm

No... 40 cents of every dollar paid out is paid by the government funds taken from taxes not the SS system. I believe you will find that data in one of the links I posted in the other topic. That data does not suggest that SS is solvent in a way form or fashion in and of its own.

My inclination is to say that SS, as we know it right now, would never pass in today's society. We (most citizens) know too much about finances, we have too much access to the tools required to manage these finances without the government's "help". There is sufficient access to insurance policies that will cover us financially due to long term injury. In short there is absolutely no need for SS to be the MAIN form of retirement planning for so many people. There is a need for a government plan for a very small minority of the population that just can not do this without "big brother's" hand on

To those few that have already voted... Question #5 was reworded to better get the point of the question across. If you would like to, please tell us if that would have changed the way you voted and to which answer. Sorry for the confusion.
-
So what is the deal with a "public poll". It never shows that Mr.Dis voted like this. But it shows the tally of votes. Any Mods on here want to explain that. I changed it to no public in case someone was afraid that their speciffic vote was made known.

Discussing SS in some other topics got me wondering about what it would be like in today's economic climate. With the knowledge of investment accounts, easier access to controlling one's own accounts on a daily basis, More and better accessability to economic research, Access to insurance plans like AFLAC for disability and injury and a myriad of other things that allow us to better control our own destiny without government interference or taxation. REMEMBER THE KEY THING HERE IS THE ASSUMPTION THAT SOCIAL SECURITY HAD NEVER BEEN STARTED AND WAS NOW BEING PROPOSED. As of now NO ONE

not to get Religious and all but this seems aprapos Footprints PrayerFootprints in the Sand One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest time

I like to think that I have at least a normal amount of common sense. Well one can hope anyway. So my DD has soccer practice at Brailey fields and it is over 20 miles each way. So I can use 3 gallons of gas in the truck ORRRR... he he he... We can jump on the new motorcycle and use less than 1. I'm telling you, I had it all planned out. So being the good meticulous dad that I am, I tell DD to wear extra clothing as it would be cool on the way home. I put on a sweatshirt & t-shirt and have my mesh riding jacket with jeans to keep me warm. I am new to this whole dressing to ride thing and I

That is correct but he has the duty to check his vehicle before driving it and he has the right to decline any vehicle that he feels is unsafe. I check my truck EVERY shift before I drive it. The county maintains it but I check it and sign off on its drivability everytime I begin my shift. The county only services the vehicle on its given schedule. Any other issues are handled as we find them in the field and then notify maint. of the issue. At that time a decision is made as to whether the issue justifies removing the vehicle from service or not. If I check off the truck and miss a brake issu

With out a doubt, if he tried to brake it would be much more likely that he might loose traction. And there is also a VERY brief time when the brakes are applied to when they reach 100% capacity because of water on the actual braking components. But that will be gone very quickly. Point being that a big truck like that will not likely loose traction with the roadway near as fast as a car will. And until that traction is lost he will be operating at up to 100% capacity. Treshold braking on dry pavement and wet is very different in limitations but until you exceed them there is no difference.

It should be noted here that he was driving a dump truck. That requires a CDL (comercial driver's license of a class B or F or better now ) and the state is far less forging of violations while driving for business. The penalties for violations and the underlying requirements of CDLs are much greater. With that said, it would take very little to have your CDL revoked thus an extensive prior history is not very likely. His maneuver and reasoning are sound. I personally have reason to be more skeptical of his remarks. But I am not the investigator and I can only go by intuition and my own person

Has anyone heard or know of a wreck that happened

It was in Cobb. We worked the wreck. -
I agree.. to protect and serve I'm sure she felt safe. From the angle, I have no clue about whether or not "protection" was in use. But I can sure as heck say... He was indeed serving her needs. Now with that said... I have a "quickie" story. While on patrol behind the old Kmart in Acworth. I saw a vehicle parked there about 0300 in the morning. I called in the vehicle and began to check it out. As I approached a woman dressed only in a coat and negligee exited the vehicle. After conversing with her and taking in the entire scene, I concluded that her story was mos
