Paulding County Georgia Election Results here
The Sound Guy replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
If you get bored waiting, there are some interesting options on the SOS site. For example, it shows that of the Dist 19 race, The 2200+ ballots currently counted are all early voting or absentee. According to that report, no votes from today's voting have been counted yet. The reports on voter turnout are interesting too. Some counties are reporting over 60% turnout. Sure, they are smaller counties, but dang, what would it be like to live where people actually care about their government! As I recall, it was that way also in the last election. Kinda sad when the guy that -

Paulding County Georgia Election Results here
The Sound Guy replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
I think we used to get faster results with the old punch card ballots. This is the fraud proof electronic election gadgets. What in the world takes our county so long to process? Anybody involved with the process that could tell us? PS. Hi to the 372 visitors currently on the site. Ya'll log on and complain with the rest of us!! -
Paulding County Georgia Election Results here

Anybody know if the early voting ballots are reported as part of the precinct the person would normally voted in or are they lumped together in a early voting precinct? -
Oh really? You think they will see the benefit of Paulding paying only 12% of the taxes but getting 17% of the road money? Oh yea, I would always vote to send my tax money to another county... NOT.

I wonder if they are using that line above as part of the pitch for this in Polk, Rome and the rest of the region. "Tax yourself and send part of your money to Paulding, 'cause they sweet talked a better deal for themselves!!" Yea, I'm sure that would go over well. Another rob Peter to pay Paul scheme. Gonna be interesting to see how the shortchanged counties vote. Also, haven't seen the little provision that is tucked into the bill discussed here: Regions that approve T-SPLOST will only have to match 10 percent of GDOT local maintenance and improvement grants, while regions th -
Re-Elect Martin Valbuena CHEIF MAGISTRATE
The Sound Guy replied to chevz71m's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I'll admit, I only did a quick search and found secondary references to them. I was in a hurry to get to the polls and didn't look too deeply, I was just wondering why a judgeship had 4 contenders when the incumbent was one of them. In any case I suspect this will be a runoff and Judge Valbuena will be one of them. I'll give him another look for the runoff. Thanks. -

Anybody here had to have a Garage Door Spring Replaced?
The Sound Guy replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thanks to all. Wanted to get it fixed quick and ended up with Overhead Door. For those interested, (i.e., yours hasn't broken yet) it was around $250 to have both springs replaced. Talked with the tech about that, he says newer homes are required to have a safety cable that runs down the inside of the spring and is tied off at each end of the door track to make sure the spring doesn't fly all over the place when it breaks. Well worth the money in my mind if you are concerned. It appears ours broke in the middle of the night. The tech said that is common with south fa -
POLL ON $100 LIMIT ON LOBBYIST GIFTS

Agreed. Heath will be short one vote this election that he got last election... mine. -
Anybody here had to have a Garage Door Spring Replaced?
The Sound Guy replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You know, it was broken when I went out, I have to ask my kids who was going out when it broke. I almost lost an arm to a side spring door 10-15 years ago when it dropped unexpectedly, I think this time I'll find an expert to fix it. -
Hardwood floors need humidity control also.

POLL ON $100 LIMIT ON LOBBYIST GIFTS
The Sound Guy replied to Mason Rountree's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Heath's argument is it is meaningless since lobbyists will just split the gifts into chunks that are under $100 each. (Take his family out to dinner at a fancy restaurant? Pay for each persons separately) I'd prefer a Annual cap of some kind where each lobbies can only give a certain about per year to anyone. As Whitey said, it's supposed to be about arguing the merits of a bill, not who can buy the most stuff. -

Ahhhh... the Republicans in the legislature passed this bill out, then you say it's the Republicans that are fighting it? What? I said this in the other thread and will repeat it here: I think I'm still voting no. It's a band aid. How many times have we been told that adding a lane to I20, I285, I75, I85 etc would fix the traffic problems. And what happens? Because it's now easier to get to Atlanta, more people build homes in the suburbs and traffic goes to crap again. You guys like paying high property taxes? Well then the TSPLOST is for you. BOC votes to increase Fire Tax millage rate
The Sound Guy replied to FreeBird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The way I understand it, the rollback is mandatory if the tax base rises, UNLESS, they declare it a tax increase and have the three public meetings on the increase. Since this is a rollup, i.e. the actual taxes being collected is not increasing beyond previous years, I don't think they legally have to have the meetings. It will be up to us to push them into the rollback when the property values start rising if they get tempted to leave the rates the same. Since I'd see my taxes rise (like I have this year) I'll be watching closely for sure. JMO, and could be wrong. -
Another issue with over-sizing is that it won't run enough to dehumidify the air at normal temps. We had 2x6 inch walls with R-19 insulation when we built but the A/C guy sized the unit assuming normal 2x4 and R-13 walls. Add to that it's the North end of the house, little to no solar load, and that the unit has to handle all the bathrooms and I find that unless I keep it at 75 or below, it doesn't run enough even on low 90 days to keep the moisture down and it's not comfortable at all in that part of the house.

Interroll to Open New North American Regional
The Sound Guy replied to LPPT's topic in Paulding County NEWS
*THIS* is what I'm talking about. This will be 70+ people that do NOT have to drive to Atlanta to work every day. If we had enough businesses that all our people could work here, we'd be helping Atlanta's traffic by NOT BEING ON THEIR ROADS. Heck ya. Now I don't know what property tax incentives may have been given to them come here, but depending on what they were, a 10 million dollar plant could be helping keep the tax rate down too. -

I'll have to say, I don't have a problem with this. My MIL had a major stroke while at our house last weekend. Paulding 911 was great, EMTs were on scene in less than 5 minutes (I think Station 6 on 61 responded, not sure, we were pretty freaked out) and Clark was on scene less than 5 minutes after that. They got her checked out and then to the Hospital in time to make a 95%+ recovery. Heck yea, they are worth it. (I still think it sucks that Sherin stole their funding when the tax went through) -
The sad truth about the regional tsplost

Because it's now easier to get to Atlanta, more people build homes in the suburbs and traffic goes to crap again. You guys like paying high property taxes? Well then the TSPLOST is for you. By widening 278, it will make it easier for more homes to be sold here in Paulding that are a drain on the school system and they will have to increase the tax rate to pay for it all. More Bonds to build more buildings bec -
Mine had that problem once... When I looked, I found a big bug inside the 220V contactor in the unit. Appeared he was crawling by the contacts when the thermostat said "Power on!" and ZAP he was fried and blocked the current. Hopefully, it will be something simple like that. However, I don't recommend you look yourself....lots of power under the hood.

I guess my biggest problem with the whole thing is it's just a band-aid. Every time a lane has been added to I-20, I-75, etc, it's been promoted as fixing the traffic issues. Now the supporters are saying for more growth, we have to fix the traffic issues. Guess what, if we do, we'll get more growth and be back where we started from. This is nothing more than a band-aid that everyone pays for. From what I saw, the biggest improvement in Paulding was widening 278 to six lanes. Wow, what a nightmare that will be for 2 years or so! By the time it's finished, all it will have don
