  1. I figured it was cancelled due to bad weather. Who knew?
  2. Looking forward to it!! A friend plays in Men in Blues and I'm been wanting to see them play and yes, I'm old enough to remember the Little River Band, I think I still have a cassette tape of theirs somewhere in the basement.
  3. LOL, gotta love it. Two different worlds....
  4. Obsolete my butt. Check out the optical world. My company designs state of the art optical DWDM equipment and manufacturing was moved out of North America to China and other Asian countries 10+ years ago. Just about anything electronic is built over there unless it has government (defense) connections and export of the design is illegal. Granted, most of the movement is ROI based, because they can build it over there and ship the stuff here for less than what it would cost to built here due to labor rates and regulation costs. I will grant that some of the regulation is good, su
  5. So just what is manufactured in this country that will sell in China? Iphone, IPad, DVDs, all manufactured in China. That helps the Chinese and the top 1% in this country that own the stock in the company, but does NOTHING for the average worker here. Manufacturing builds group wealth. Ideals can build individual wealth, but that's about it. Why do you think China *is* a developing nation? Because they have all the manufacturing!! They are creating value and wealth like crazy! Please explain to me how Joe Montana will benefit because an IPhone manufactured in China is sold i
  6. I can agree with this much of it. Until we control goods flow across the borders, we will be dragged down to the lowest standard of living of the supplier of goods that we purchase, as the jobs will go there. But neither party wants to enter that briar patch.
  7. Yes, the simulators help a bunch - esp when you want to practice and don't have time to go to the field. Fire up the simulator and in 5 minutes you are in the sky. No fueling or charging of flight batteries to worry about. If you can get one that can be customized for your flying area, it's really neat. I did that for our club flying field and while practicing kept flying into trees at one end of the field. I thought that the simulator had a bug, as those trees couldn't be that close. Next flying session, I'm coming in for a landing following what looks like the same flight path as
  8. I dunno. If the city is going to pay for it, they can use whoever they want. However, if I am going to pay for it, then I would expect to use whoever I want. Sounds like there is a kickback going to either the council member (reelection campaign funds) or the city itself. Vote 'em out. Until you get somebody that remembers who they work for.
  9. As one who has voted Republican for much of my life, I'm disgusted with this kind of carp. The GOP party line just sucks lately. It's useless grandstanding to pass something that has 0% chance of ever becoming law. Total waste of time and energy and the tax money they are so fond of saying they'd rather not spend! It's total and complete carp. They need to spend their time on something that will actually *do* something. They screwed up and let the Dems take the senate, they need to man up and live with it. Do what they can, don't waste time grandstanding the impossible. And BTW,
  10. [Off Topic] - I love that song of CD's.
  11. Hmmm have to write this down. Love library sales, nice way to get hard backs cheap...
  12. Yep Trekkie for sure. Have watched it since the early seventies reruns. Watched the Saturday animated series in the middle/late 70s. Have all of James Blish's novel adaptations of the original show and the animated series. My physics teacher took our class on a field trip to watch the first Star Trek movie when it came out. Even better, the new reboot has even captured my wife into the franchise. I know the original shows are on netflix for download, I have to find the original episode with Kahn (Space Seed, I think) and let her watch that. We watched "The Wrath
  13. I remember the first big dry summer we had, at least 10 years ago, Lake Allatoona fell to levels that it hadn't been at in years... and someone noticed a car shape under the shallow water next to a bridge. Turned out to have a missing person in it from years before they put the guardrails in.
  14. The difference between men and women.... Let's say a guy named Roger is attracted to a woman named Elaine. He asks her out to a movie; she accepts; they have a pretty good time. A few nights later he asks her out to dinner, and again they enjoy themselves. They continue to see each other regularly, and after a while neither one of them is seeing anybody else. And then, one evening when they're driving home, a thought occurs to Elaine, and, without really thinking, she says it aloud: "Do you realize that, as of tonight, we've been seeing each other for exactly six months?" And th
  15. Yep I boil the mix until the sugar fully dissolves. Then pour it in the pitcher I keep it in while still hot to make sure it's clean.
  16. We use A clear solution of 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water and the birds fight over it. As long as the feeder is red they will zero right in on it.
  17. Yep. These are not like guns or planes or regular weapons. We can't just bomb them or you will spread them all over the place and if they are around populated areas (which I can see them doing easily) will kill tens of thousands if not more. The only way to attack and destroy at the same time is use a large nuke, which kinda destroys all those people anyway. To get them out and safely destroy them would require many boots and tanks on the ground and put thousands (or tens of thousands) of our troops at risk. Who is to say that whoever is holding them now is not a fanatic and will relea
  18. If you are in the north Paulding area, Wild Birds Unlimited have them. They are in the Seven Hills Publix shopping center.
  19. I agree that it was important and with my parents and parent in laws all being in their 80's now am becoming familiar with the needs of the disabled. However, that doesn't distract from the original point that the way the ADA is written *requires* that the state ignore any disability they are in granting the permit without allowing common sense to be used.
  20. The people who pushed for the disabilities act and demanded that the law of the land be that no one can be rejected *just* because they have a disability. *They* thought it was a good idea. No common sense allowed! Once again it's unintended consequences by a bunch of legislators who pass crap before they read it and understand it. On a realistic note, I would note that "Blind" does not mean you can't see anything, it just means you less than "normal" vision. I have a friend that is going blind due to a medical condition, who still hunts, he just has to do it under "monitored" condit
  21. I was looking up my representative and found this comment on Tom Grave's page: If anyone is going to go, let them send themselves.
  22. We've been using this style of feeder from WBU: No leak and it has an ant moat in the middle to keep them out. We have one in the back and one in the front. We had our first bird within hours of putting the feeder out last spring and both are really busy now. Though I don't see the point of having multiple stations on a single feeder. Most of the time the dominate bird will sit on the hanger and try to run off all newcomers. That is the main reason we have two that are out of sight of each other.
  23. ^^^^ THIS The only thing I would change is that it's both parties that have been screwing the pooch.
  24. However, as you have pointed out, if they work full time, with the rules we have now, they take a huge hit on their welfare payments. So rather than do that, they will either just quit and live off the welfare, or find a job somewhere else that pays part timers. You can't make part time work illegal everywhere. That would be the stupidest thing *ever*.
