+100 The liberals are so busy trying to "Take care" of the poor that they condemn them to that state by not leaving any incentive to do better. I'm glad I'm not the only one to see this. We have to get to a system without cutoff of services that build walls to advancement. Things like taxing govt benefits so that wages and benefits are on an even footing. Then as your income rises, you lose a percentage of the benefit, but not enough to make the change negative, i.e. the person still has more spending money than they did before. Then, when they finally get off the support, the

Did they discuss therapy with you? I have issues in the L3 area and have had it pinch the nerves twice for over a six week period. First time we did the whole MRI and test regimen to determine what discs were the issue, then after I told them that surgery was to be a last resort, I went through six weeks or so of therapy where they taught me various exercises to both strengthen the back muscles and to help push the discs back where they belong. They also taught me posture instructions and various other items to help control the issue. Many of the exercises can be done at home once you've

So if a Tornado hit's the Braves Stadium and heavily damaged it, would they bother to repair it? Weird questions you ask at 5:50 AM when you can't sleep all night....

While I love the idea of better batteries, modified viruses scare the crap out of me. What was that movie, I am Legend, I think, where they had a modified virus mutate and get away from them, killing most of the people on earth. Yea, I know, that is just a movie, but Ebola is real and scary enough thank you. It would be hard to convince me you can completely control a virus.

Suddenly have an urge to go back hunting again and add at least one more deer to my freezer. At least I *know* it's not been processed out of the country.

Paulding Water Dept. can't account for 25% of water?
The Sound Guy replied to FreeBird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that the infrastructure is being over pressurized in an attempt to compensate for mains that are too small. The Line that goes down Cedarcrest to Harmony Grove has a permanent booster pump that was installed on Harmony Grove Rd near the horse farm. They didn't need that boost until the pressure started falling during peak hours due to too many homes being connected. All that extra pressure will find every single weak joint and pipe in a hurry. We had a fire hydrant in our subdivision blow out just a year or so ago in the middle of the night. -

Teachers In North Dakota Are Among The Lowest Paid
The Sound Guy replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Every time I see any headline like this I have visions of a Math Teacher rolling in her grave since by definition, 50% of the <whatever job category you want to pick> will be in the lower half of the pay range. They could all make between 100K and 200K a year and the ones making 125K would be still be "Among the Lowes Paid". Doesn't mean they are getting less than they are worth. <Sigh> -
No more 404, 678 area codes given in Atlanta
The Sound Guy replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not surprising the numbers are exhausting so fast, we have a land line, 5 cell phones and an IP phone in our house alone. Going to be interesting when they run out of area codes... -
I would expect that it would be difficult to get someone to drive to your house for less than $150, much less do the work once they got there. Price sounds pretty good to me. The second door should be much less than the first one if they do it at the same time. I used Overhead Door to replace the springs on our garage door last year. Good service, reasonable price, but not cheap.

Retailer will not honor prices in glitch ad........
The Sound Guy replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If it's like my son's store, the pricing system is so cumbersome, it may be easier to give them away than to convince the home office the price file is wrong.... -
I find this to be an interesting accomplishment. Not as a practical source of power in of itself as the amount of energy in any particular amount of space is very small, but Science Fiction has though about power satellites for years and something like this on the receiving end might make it practical. Launch huge solar collectors into orbit, these can be very lightweight as solar wind is the only force acting on them. The power they generate is used to produce microwaves on a specific frequency, which are beamed down to receivers, usually in unpopulated areas due to the energy density. (D

Technically, the pull of a magnet is a Force, in this case, magnetic. The pull of gravity between two objects is also a force. The force does not create or use energy. If an object in that field is acted upon by that force, then it has Potential energy. Using the formula Force= Mass * Acceleration, the object in the field can use that force to convert the Potential energy into kinetic energy. As the force acts on the object, it does work on that object Work = force * distance. As WR stated, energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be concentrated or diluted.

Kennesaw State University and SPSU To Merge
The Sound Guy replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Well all I can say is that, I used to do secondary interviews for my manager of a systems engineering department of a major fiber optic manufacturer. My boss's first sort was to look at the stack of resumes and see what the school was and if he hadn't heard of it, the resume was chucked. Once you've built a reputation, name changes are bad. Try to change the name of UGA to something else and all heck would break loose. -
Kennesaw State University and SPSU To Merge
The Sound Guy replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It sucks for the Southern Tech students. One of the stupider things I've seen the university system do. I guess the Ga Tech people finally achieved their goal of killing SPSU. Good engineering reputations are hard to build for a school and take a long time to achieve. The SPSU name had finally gotten known for the quality of engineering student that they put out. "Kennesaw State University" isn't known for jack in the engineering fields. There are going to be a lot of resumes thrown out for engineering jobs when that name is on them. -
Lis Hasselbeck can choke on it...
The Sound Guy replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I suspect their law team will end up with 50% or more of that, then the victims split what is left. To me, that amount is a small price for the school to pay for a massive intentional coverup. -

I lost interest in baseball much less the Braves when they moved the Braves to a pay TV cable channel i can't get. Haven't seen a game in three years unless it happens to be on when I visit my FIL. Bah.

Just because the land runs up hill now, doesn't mean that the lines may not be there. They normally dig the trenches level, so they may be just a little deeper at one end than the other. Depending on how old the house is, you may be able to see a little greener grass over the lines because the dirt was stirred up more during the install. If your house was built post 1999 or so, you will want to have both sides accessed. The "clean" side will have a filter in it that needs to be cleaned and checked. We used Mike Kitchens Septic for my Dad's, my FIL's and my Tank a couple of years a

Power company wants to penalize solar in GA
The Sound Guy replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Bullcrap. They are free to disconnect from the grid anytime they want to buy a big enough system and supply their own storage to support themselves. People do it all the time in remote areas. However, they would rather use the grid as a free battery. Why should the power company support maintenance on generators, distribution, etc for people who will only pull full load at night or when the user's system breaks? Come on Pubby, you're smarter than that. You own a business. Would you enjoy having to pay for servers and internet capacity that can pull full load on election nights or the fe -
I just don't like trusting software with my life with no backup. Nope. I'd wait a few years before I'd try it.
