  1. Ok, the board is telling me I've used all the attachment space I'm allowed when attempting to post on a topic.   If I click on  Manage Attachments to free up space as directed, I get a list of 14MB worth of attachments, but no way to delete them that I can find.   Somebody want to tell me how to delete them?  I can't go to the post and edit it, because when I click on the post link, i"m told that I don't have permissions to view those posts.

    Sorry, there is a problem

You do not have permission to view this content.

    Error code: 2F173/K

Somebody want to explain how to do this?   (or wipe out all my attachments if no one can see the posts anyway?)

  2. As well, most of the cheap develop able land is gone.

It's a natural order of business, growth cannot continue forever.  You run out of good places to put homes.   Roads can't keep up.

Next big boom will be in roof, A/C and Water Heater replacements as all those crackerjack box homes put up with "builder's grade" equipment in the last 15 years begins to fail.

School system can use the break, that 1300 homes is over 1300 kids on average added to the school system every year.  $$$ for new schools.

  3. Nah.

Iran killed one too many US Citizens in Iraq and we caught the man responsible while he was in Iraq. (note:  NO attack on Iran has happened, he was in IRAQ planning the attacks)

Iraq did a face saving "vote" to evict us, then freaked out when one of the marine commands agreed to leave.

Iran got their hand slapped and have done a face saving "attack" sending missiles that hit nothing into another country.

However, you know Iraq is not going to attempt to retaliate, so should be back to business as usual terrorist attacks in Iraq soon.

  4. What we need is businesses providing good jobs here, so more people don't *have* to go out of county every day to work.

It would have another benefit of those businesses generating property taxes *without* generating any kids for the school system or anywhere near the public services needed for an equivalent number of homes.

If the BOC would quit trying to make a mint for themselves by making new business a county exclusive and work on making the county attractive to new business, instead of homes for Cobb and Fulton County workers, we'd be better off.

  5. My dad actually has a deal with Cobb mec that nighttime charging is free (midnight to 6:00 am as I recall). It makes a lot of sense from the power company perspective as it allows the power plants to stay running around the clock which is more efficient Than starting and stopping those huge plants.

since his solar units are running during the day, his bills are incredibly small.

of course, you have to be able to everything you need to with just one charge or it all falls apart.

  6. Atlanta United looked good, glad to have Josef Martínez back on the field.  On to the Playoffs!

The Braves had me worried, but came back like the Braves of Old!  Up 2-1 on the Cards.

The Falcons.... dang.  How can team with so much talent do so poorly?    I may have to become a Saints fan. They are winning with their backup quarterback.   Quinn taking over the Defense hasn't seemed to much good either.  Do we need to start a pool on when he's gone?

The US Women's National Soccer Team tied South Korea as well.

    Busy Sports day.

  7. I doubt any vote was involved, the facility has always been available since it was built and It's always cost money to rent it on the weekend.    We paid for the use of the large ballroom for our daughter's and a friend's graduation party in 2016.  As I recall it was $400 or so for the day to decorate and use.     50K seems kinda high, unless that was for the entire year and for the entire building.

The same thing happens when the school system rents the gym at a school for services.      I'm happy that the county facility is being used.

  8. Been getting that feeling that your water bill has been getting higher no matter how much water you try to save?

It's not your imagination. My bill this month said new rates were in affect, so I had a look.

Turns out that per the Paulding BOC Resolution No 16-06 from February 2016, Water rates will go up another 4.75% this year (on top of the usual 4% annual increase from the Cobb Water Authority who we purchase our water from until Richmond Creek Reservoir and Treatment Plant goes on line) and the base residential rate will go up from $6.00 to $7.00.

Two more increases are planned for 2020 and 2021.

From 2017 to 2021, the total increase in the water rates is planned to be ~ 52% and the base rate will go up 25% as well.

These increases are to assist the water dept to pay towards the loans/bonds taken out to pay for the RCR development and the pipelines from the River to RCR and from the treatment plant down US61 to the rest of the county.

Hopefully once the RCR plant goes on line and we can stop buying from Cobb, we can use the savings from paying Cobbs overhead to reduce the rates back a bit.

Edit: Actually it's 8.75%, not 4.75 as I didn't add the 4% increase from Cobb in.

  9. If your friend has a Visa issued, they have at least attempted to do things legally. I have a friend in the same condition, he's heading to England in a few weeks and isn't sure if he'll be allowed back. Agreed that the process for legal visas, etc is more difficult than it should be. The concern is for those that are crossing with no intent to be legal.

Agreed that Trump screws up sometimes. He's much too impulsive esp with the stupid Tweeter account. I like his ideas, I just don't like him as President. However, the GOP as a party is about useless, so it was going to take an outsider like Trump to get anything done. I'm just not holding my breath that the GOP will produce a politician that will actually address the issues that the Constitutional conservatives want addressed.

    Oh yea, Happy New Year!!

  10. Looking at going in the morning. I have to be in Conyers for Election day and don't want to miss it.

The amendments and Referendum appear to be the usual special interest tax breaks put into vague form.

    1) Pulling sales tax from whatever is in the budget and pushing it to a vague "Parks and Rec" theme. The crap about not causing a tax increase is just that, crap. They will find another reason to raise the tax rate if they are running out of money. NOPE

    2) Do we really need to support another set of judges/courts when we have so many already? NOPE

    3) Tax break for the tree farm corporations taking money from the county's budget who has no control over it. Double NOPE (Paulding already has 10,000 acres that isn't generating property tax, don't need any more!)

    4) Holy carp, this one is so freaking vague it's not funny. NO WAY should that be an amendment! NOPE

    5) This one is silly. Must be one county somewhere that the city schools wants a sales tax and county schools do not (or vice versa). Work it out you idiots, don't screw up the state constitution because you can't negotiate. NOPE

    A) Tax break for certain businesses. NOPE

    B) This one *might* be reasonable if we were given the details, but as vague as it is? NOPE

Paulding Special: Sunday Sales of Alcohol after 11:00 AM to sometime after 11:00 PM. (It mentions two different times 11:30 PM and 12:30 PM, which makes no sense to me) I'd normally say OK to this, even not being a drinker myself, but since they screwed up the wording, NOPE.
