We as teachers, are not allowed to teach or we must teach to a standardized test. Teachers have become secretaries and babysitters who must make sure they follow the IEP of all students, provide differentiated learning to all students and make sure we get everything in the kids need to know by CRCT's or EOCT's. In addition, I'm teaching 4 different social studies subjects, three of which I've never taught before. Teachers can do a good job if put in a position to be successful but that is happening less and less each year.

The news organizations of the 50's and 60's didn't report the sexual lives of politicians unless it had bearing on policies; Eisenhower cheated as well. I rarely eat beef anymore but I picked up some rib eye steaks and shrimp from the store and grilled steak and had shrimp cocktail, washing it down with some Sam Adams.

They are working if they are that dedicated and focused; they're not just sitting on their ass and when the time comes to get a job they'll do just fine.

This fine young man also had parents who cared and were able to get him the help he needed. I see many kids in my alternative school who have horribly f**ked up parents; no wonder the poor kids are so screwed up. So, as a teacher I want to thank the parents who try to manage their child's disabilities/disorders. It makes our lives a lot easier and also helps us know how to work with that child.

I think that ADD and ADHD are diagnosed too frequently. However, I also see kids who have managed this condition with medication and have shown marked improvement; you can tell when these kids don't take their medication. I think the school day is too long; when I was going to school, the day was shorter and we still learned. I remember when I was in junior high being able to sit where I wanted in the cafeteria and being allowed to go outside after we finished eating.
